Paternoster Chop House
We are bringing back the great British Chop House – harking back to a time when meat was king, portions were hearty and provenance was everything. Enjoy larger sharing cuts cooked on open charcoal grills, in Josper ovens or on spit roasts, alongside daily specials inspired by the best ingredients the British Isles have to offer.
Was good service and atmosphere
Had a lovely piece of fillet steak and the service was superb.
Table was ready as soon as got there. Staff very friendly, food amazing , drinks a little on the pricey side. Would def go back.
Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff and a very good menu
Had the black pudding scotch egg for starter and chicken Kiev for main.
We both ordered the fillet steak. It was delicious! For sides we had chips and creamy mash. Not a lump to be seen in the mash - absolutely perfect! I had a glass of the house red wine - very tasty. Also had a couple of cocktails - all very tasty. Highly recommend. We went on a Saturday night. It was very busy so booking in advance is essential. Waiting staff were attentive and very friendly and chatty.
Excellent food fantastic service (especially from Nancy) I would happily recommend people give this restaurant a try. Setting in the St Paul’s area is lovely and there are some lovely buildings to at.
Dining can feel a little “cosy” as there are far more tables than depicted on First Dates.
Overall I can’t fault Paternoster Chop House.
Give it a visit
We went as part of our silver wedding anniversary celebrations. It did not disappoint. Fabulous.
Always a solid safe bet. Had the fish and chips. Was fantastic.
Went on a Tuesday night, food was great and the service to match. Manager was excellent with catering for my allergy to nuts. Would recommend
The food was of an extremely high quality in presentation and taste. We had a mixture of set menu, sharing special and tbone steak on our table and they were all exceptional.
We experienced the "red roast" wine offer and found it to be a beautiful smooth wine.
Service from Adrian was brilliant - he was charming, professional and attentive.
decent enough but very noisy & the service could be better !
I had a lovely meal here with my wife for date night. In my opinion you can't got to a chip House and not have steak. The steak was magnificent, cooked just how I asked for it and the triple cooked chips were delicious. Wine list could be a bit more expansive for my tastes.
Lively Friday night, bar over-busy which didn’t help the 30+ minute wait for our table reservation to be ready (receptionist apologetic but we’d to chase up after 20mins so rather poor no comp. drink or whatever). Informal dining so all just a little haphazard but food was good & server was extremely friendly & keen to please.
Lovely place, friendly and efficient staff, the food is excellent, just be prepared for the rather large bill when it arrives.
I would recommend on the basis of previous visits and not this one, Staff extremely accommodating , my client was running late also staff helped me get a larger table as an unexpected addition to the party was arriving. Table service excellent throughout bearing in mind how busy it was.
Unfortunately the Rump Steak I had was very tough and I left more that half of it. My clients plaice went down well however. Didn't complain although table staff did query. I didn't have time to resolve and wanted t avoid embarrassment in front of client.
Will come back because it is convenient for some of my London meetings.
Great seated us early, super attentive, food great, cheap. Great all round. The girls on the door were really helpful
Food and service were excellent as were the cocktails. We started with a game pie, crab and pear and beetroot salad all of which were excellent. All 3 of us opted for the fillet steak which was the best steak that I have tasted. Desert was burnt Cambridge custard. Again delivered on flavour and portion size. We will be back..
I cannot recommend this restarant enough. The food was incredible and really well presented. Lovely ambience and even when it was quiet, the restaurant had great energy. The two courses for £20 was a really good deal from a nice selection of dishes. I would go back for the chocolate fondant alone, I really regret sharing it with my friend.
Excellent, attentive service, good food and drinks. A nice room in a good location. First Dates location was appreciated but they don’t make a big deal of it.
Very tasty menu but steak was over cooked. Not many gluten free options.
Good experience, food was better then expected
Obviously known as the restaurant where ‘First Dates’ is filmed, we thought it would be fun to enjoy a meal here after a wonderful few hours in St Paul’s cathedral. Actually had a wonderful meal, very attentive service and good value for it’s prime location. Couldn’t fault it, therefore I’d recommend giving it a try.
Pleasing, especially the monster suet pudding.
Had liked this restaurant so much on my first visit that I returned soon after to take my son for a birthday lunch. Received the same excellent service and lovely food. Very nice to get an amuse bouche also.
Look forward to visiting in the summer time to sit outdoors - perfect for people watching!
We ate from the set menu and thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience. Short rib was divine.
Liked the restaurant so much I have already booked a second lunch there. Lovely setting at St Paul’s.
Meet friends from Australia who had never been to London and took them to this place. It has such a warm atmosphere and the service and food was great.
Great way to share an experience at a notable eatery, good food and wine all aerved with a smile.
I had the cauliflower soup with onion bajis for my starter. At first I thought the combination wouldn't work but it was one of the best soups I have ever tasted. Full of flavour and creamy. The starter set the tone for the rest of the meal! Attentive service and good atmosphere
The food was lovely, and the service was good, but very disappointed that the restaurant wasn’t decorated with any festive decor considering we were there for a Christmas Day lunch it took away the ambience.
Super lekker eten! Heel puur, bijgerechten maken het wel een dure beleving, maar zeker een aanrader voor een speciale gelegenheid (als het eens geld mag kosten ;) )
Really good service! They spoilt my friend for his birthday and the food came out in good timing
Well what can I say apart from it was the best meal I’ve ever tasted.
Completely on the different level.
Thank you to all the staff and management
Excellent steaks although annoying to be charged for horseradish and mustard
Braised short ribs were HEAVENLY!
Was very noisy but expected that at this time of year, food was good , service was good also, would recommend.
I absolutely enjoyed the food which I ordered. The service was great and really fast. The restaurant is perfect.
Cool venue of the first dates restaurant
Triple cooked chips came unseasoned, very bland but saved by texture.
Burgers were cooked a grade or two rarer than requested
Amazing experience, food was excellent and could not find a fault at all. Staff were friendly and professional attended to every request. Brilliant service excellent restaurant
Great business lunch here with a colleague. The food its self was great. I had the Plaice and my colleague had the Turkey and Ham pie and both were excellent as well as the accompanying side dishes.
It was a Tuesday lunchtime and the restaurant became exceptionally busy. It took at least 30 mins for us to get our food but we were very pleased when it arrived and was so great.
