Peace and Loaf Restaurant
The tasting menu was really good value: Beautifully presented food, with fantastic flavour combinations with perfectly matched (and interesting) wines, which broadened our horizons. The wines were a highlight, as it was a pleasant surprise to try things that we had never tried before, presented with such knowledge and enthusiasm.
It was the last night before the Govt-induced closure - but standards remained high and the friendly staff created a relaxed and positive atmosphere and ensured we enjoyed ourselves and had a good night in the face of uncertain times. We will be back as soon as we can.
Beautiful food and fantastic service as always!!!!
We enjoyed our meal although the main course was a bit disappointing
3 of us had beef it was a bit overcooked
Birthday treat from daughter and son in law.
Lots of new flavours above the norm.
We took advantage of the new £20 fixe price menu yesterday and we were delighted with all five of our courses. Exceptional food and attentive service throughout. Have recommended to several friends already and will be back.
Amazing food. Really helpful and friendly staff. Great price too.
Fabulous food as always. It always feels like a special occasion when you visit! Delicious!
Most disappointing meal I have had here especially with a cheese and biscuit dish being especially poor and draped in a savoury sauce. Trout starter also overly spoiled with a strong mustard sauce. Main pork belly dish was delightful and husband's veggie choices great. His rice pudding was beautiful. Service polished and friendly as always. Would go back but was disappointed.
Absolutely incredible in every way. Fine dining at it's very finest. Would recommend try this place (at least) once in their lives!!
Not one complaint, the staff were attentive , friendly and knowledgable, the food was amazing and every morsel was delicious . If you like interesting and fine food this is the place for you !
As always a wonderful dining experience, thanks Dave C and staff!
Great food and good service, wine was beautiful. Always a pleasure visiting
We booked Peace and Loaf for a special anniversary meal and to treat our son. From arrival we were made to feel really comfortable. The staff were faultlessly courteous, attentive and friendly, but also discrete. We had delicious cocktails on arrival while we chose our meals. We ate a la carte, ordering starters, a main and an assiette (sharing plate) of desserts. The food was exquisite! So much to experience, a blend of flavours, textures and colour that delivered both as a whole and where zoning in on each component still left us wondering at the care and delicate attention paid to every ingredient. The ambience of the restaurant was great too, and the music was pitched at just the right level not to intrude - at one point, savouring a mouthful I realised I was also listening to my favourite Bowie song, sat with my favourite people, and truly felt that life does not get better than this!
We live next door and for some unknown reason have never paid the restaurant a visit. The value was simply astounding. Three courses and two amuse bouches for £20. Lots of flavour and variety on the fixed price offering. In London, Brighton or any other major city, you'd be looking at £130 + for such an experience. Staff were lovely and keen to explain the dishes to us.
Had a great time as usual. Food was fantastic, always delicious. Only slight issue was getting our starter brought out before we'd finished the canapés, it made us feel rushed. It didn't spoil our time as the food was outstanding.
Amazing food and lovely staff! Nothing was too much trouble. Will be back
Interesting and tasty food, very professionally served.
The only downside was the lack of atmosphere. The restaurant was quite busy, but there was no buzz. The big open industrial style space is a bit stark and cold.
Maybe is they tried to develop the downstairs as a cocktail bar it would attract more of the Jesmond set and generate "the buzz."
Hi, I was slightly disappointed with our meal. I think we were perhaps unlucky as they seemed understaffed and the staff worked like Trojans; there was little delay in service, but it all seemed a bit frantic and my main course was luke warm - as if it had been standing a while. It was both my husband and my birthday celebration - and it didn't feel special. I've been before when it did feel like an occasion.
The food was good as always, but not as good as expected. (not hot) Also, and this might not be the restaurant fault - there was a general whiff of B.O where we were sitting - not sure if staff or people we were sitting next too! - it definitely coloured our visit.
I would try it again, but for the price, a bit let down this visit.
We went for the set menu for lunch. Food was amazing and such great value. Would highly recommend visiting.
Wonderful range of delicious dishes. Could not fault any of it. Great mixture of flavours, would definitely recommend to anyone...vegetarian or meat eater.
The food was phenomenal. We were going to go for the prix fixe menu, but the options on the a la carte were too good to pass up. We only got starters and mains but the meal came with many extra canapes and amuse bouches, so in the end we were stuffed. Would definitely go again.
Absolutely outstanding - second time for us and looking forward to getting the third booked in! Knowledgable staff who interacted with us - we like to talk! Nice and relaxed atmosphere- not formal in any sense. Couldn’t recommend it more highly.
Fantastic service, the best food we have ever eaten, an experience that makes all the difference to fine dining, can’t wait to return again
Heard rave reviews from friends so had high expectations. We travelled from the west of Durham for the experience and were not disappointed. We would definitely recommend anyone to visit.
Very good. All the issues we experienced previously were not experienced on this visit.
We were uncomfortable as there was no heating on and the place was cold.
Service was impeccable, and the food was incredible. A lot of thought and care clearly went into every dish.
Lovely meal as always. Good service and good ambiance for a Monday evening. Thanks to the team.
2nd time visiting Peach and Loaf for lunch, delicious food, lovely serving staff and the chef's attention to detail and flavour lovely, can't wait to go back
A great restaurant for all occasions and fine dining with friendly and attentive service
An incredible dining experience. Service is exceptional and food is outstanding. Worth the slightly higher prices for the whole experience
It was very, very disappointing. Table booked for 8pm yet did not sit down until 8.30. This would not have been a problem but meant the beef had sold out that we all wanted. We struggled to pick an alternative. Scallops were warm (they may have meant to be) but one of the fish main courses was cold (despite the plate being hot). Not sure why we were not offered the restaurant week menu which would have been far better.
On the plus side the lamb main course was excellent as was the replacement beef dish (offered as shin of beef but we think it was the beef course from the restaurant week menu), the staff were very apologetic, we were given a free bottle of wine and the bill was discounted by about £100. However, we would have much preferred a night to remember rather than one to forget.
We had an amazing meal during restaurant week. The dishes were excellent. Felt really full. Fantastic value
It was honestly outstanding and beyond my expectations.
From the minute you arrive you really feel well looked after and the chefs are in full view so you feel like you're an extention of their kitchen.
Throughout the meal you're given little treats to try all of which are unique.
For a special occassion this is definitely a place I recommend and would say it's one of the best resturants in the North of England.
Wonderful food and great atmosphere. Will be back very soon 🙂
Absolutely amazing, food outstanding. Staff welcoming and attentive but not overbearing. All staff knowledgable about food and drinks. Would definitely recommend to everyone
Fantastic food as usual. A real gem of a restaurant for the North East that is well established.
Our absolutely favourite restaurant, love to see the action over the pass, food is totally exceptional, great staff, lovely ambience
Creative, beautiful plating, seasonal produce and fantastic “treats” - the amuse bouche is to die for
Could not recommend more highly
Excellent food! The canapés in between courses were an excellent surprise too. Only issue we had was that we were too full for desert. Would definitely go back for the a la carte
I have a wheat and diary intolerance and they adapted the menu for me. It was beautiful. Fully recommend. We forgot to take photo of the main, which was amazing! The small dishes in between courses were amazing. Stuffed but just managed dessert!
