Very creative menu as well as being very tasty it included an element of entertainment. I was challenged with a couple of the amuse bouche offerings, on the whole they were amazing , I guess this is why we visit resteraunts like this, to push our taste boundaries.
The Seating was better on the two upper floors as there wasn’t much ambience in the entrance area which is where we were seated first, after a trip to the ladies I asked to be re seated.
Peace and loaf create food that starts conversation and stimulates all of your senses, I will return again for a special treat.

The food was of outstanding quality. Although the menu is a narrow choice with only 1 vegetarian option, it pieced together surprising ingredients successfully. The canapés were delightful and exquisitely prepared. Our waitress was knowledgable about the menu, but unfortunately had a heavy cold, which was not welcome, along with the £38 over charge for 2 bottles of wine, when only 2 glasses were had. Nice, but I don’t see us becoming regulars. Atmosphere lacking vibrancy.

Dave’s lost the plot!
I’ve been coming here since it first opened and always appreciated the superb craftsmanship invested in the menu. The pris fixe is usually excellent.
This time, however, as it was a birthday celebration we decided to push the boat out and go for the “a la carte”. What a disappointment! All 3 were cold. - Not intentionally.
I had the duck which was dry, chewy and over salted- hoisin can be salty but the main course of guinea fowl was equally dry, chewy and salty. We didn’t order a dessert and were out by 8pm. So a bad night all around!
And not only that but we each had gastro upset the next day!

The Prix Fix menu at Peace and Loaf must be the best value of any restaurant in Newcastle. The price differential between Peace and Loaf and another Michelin Star restaurant in the city is huge but the margins, in relation to the quality of the food, is very slim. Both restaurants are superb; Peace and Loaf offer exceptional value for money.

Friendly, relaxed service and willing help with items we didn't know. The food was delicious with nicely judged portions and interesting tasters between courses. The three of us thoroughly enjoyed our evening out.

Table for 2 for an anniversary.
Made very welcome by pleasant and helpful staff.
Very attentive service and there was just the right amount of time between courses and speaking of between courses there were some of the most tasty bites to try.
Food was done to perfection and the tastes were intense complimented with gorgeous textures. I did not want the meal to end. Heaven!
I recommend without hesitation. Not cheap but you can see and taste where the money's gone.

The food was amazing. There was 3 of us and we all had something different, yet each of us really enjoyed our meals. The canapes were also a lovely surprise. Would definitely recommend it if you like quality food.

My wife had been twice before with friends to have the tasting menu & was determined to take me for our anniversary. I am really glad that she did.

We had the most fantastic three course meal taken from the a la carte menu. Many extra samplers were brought before each course with some very unusual presentation (a 'marshmallow' on a desert spoon & seafood samplers in a plastic basket to name just two) All had absolutely amazing flavours & weren't too heavy or strongly flavoured - if anything they enhanced the main courses.

The low level music fitted well with the ambience of the place which is spread over three floors. Service was incredibly good with the waiters demonstrating their knowledge of all the dishes. They weren't too intrusive & knew who had ordered what.

Overall a fantastic evening & we will be returning for what I am sure will be another food tour de force.

I have been to this restaurant a few times and absolutely love it. My only reason for giving 3 stars for ambiance is because the restaurant was rather cold and my friends and I were freezing by the time we left. The food is always fab but think Mary must have ran off with the lamb that I was expecting in my hot pot starter. Having said that, the chefs do amazing things, the staff are lovely, and I would not hesitate to eat there at every opportunity, it is a gem.

My daughter and I had a most fantastic Mum's day lunch. My beef was so tender and succulent and the accompanying veg an adventure! You don't often say that about vegetables! My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Pork. Staff were friendly, helpful but unobtrusive. We were here with friend for 18th in Dec 17. It was amazing then and continues to be so.
A small observation but the loos could be a better higher, standard; as that of the restaurant. Cluttered with products and untidy. All you need is quality handwash and hand cream. Clear the shelves!
A fabulous restaurant. Thank you.

We arrived early hoping to enjoy a quick drink before eating and fortunately the restaurant has a small seating area for that. Even more fortunately the 6 people filling that space when we arrived were just leaving otherwise we'd have been disappointed. So we ordered 2 cocktails which were OK. It then turned out that a table had become available sooner than our booking time. Service-wise from then on it was disappointing. The overall impression we had was that the staff wanted us in, fed and out ASAP which is not what you want from a restaurant that probably considers itself "high end". One course was no sooner whosked away than the next was delivered. If we wanted fast food we could have gone to MacDonalds. Contrast this with the end of the meal when we needed the bill and following that when we wanted to pay so we weren't late for our taxi. At that point there was no-one to be seen. We waited 20-25 minutes before having to do that thing where you try to catch someone's eye across the room and ask for the bill using sign language. Then no-one came to take payment for ages.

Then there was the meal. Now all the food was perfectly well cooked. They brought nibbles on the house which were tasty but serving nibbles on a spoon was a bit odd. The starters were nice. The wife had scallopes and I had duck ham.

Each main course option involved an incongruous collection of things to put on the same plate. I went for halibut, chicken pie (in a cream sauce), mashed potato, marmite gravy and Shitaake. I wasn't sure how halibut and chicken pie would work on the same plate when I ordered it and was less sure after it arrived. It looked like the sort of plate you would end up with at a wedding buffet when you thought you might as well just put a bit of everything on just in case. Having said that the halibut was the most perfectly cooked piece of fish I have ever eaten. My wife had lamb with anchovies and rhubarb. Lamb with anchovies!? What's that all about!?
