Peace and Loaf Restaurant
Great food and always very attentive but unobtrusive staff.
What a treat for the taste buds- utterly scrumptious.
Attentive but unobtrusive service. Innovative menu.
We had a lovely meal at Peace and Loaf. The service was impeccable, very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly staff. We ordered starters and main courses and there was a pre-starter delivered to the table which was a variety of delicious tidbits. Also a small dish served between the two courses. The serving staff advised and described what they were putting down to you even for the starter and main course. The food was outstanding, well presented, plentiful and very tasty.
Whilst the food was wonderful and the beef was the beefiest meat I have ever eaten we were the only guests in the restaurant which meant that it lacked ambience and atmosphere.
Restaurant lived up to everything we had heard. Interesting food from the al a carte menu and really lovely service.
It was busy but had a great vibe . Also offered a different wine selection from the usual.
Great service, food was superb - and very reasonable from the fixed price early menu.
Delicious and innovative food; all our party happily chose from the variety of dishes on the 3-course lunch prix fixe menu (which was a steal at £27) but the bread & little extras/ amuse-bouches were super tasty and worth a special mention too. The newly refurbished surroundings were stylish yet comfortable and all the restaurant team provided wonderfully unobtrusive service - we will definitely be back!
We had a simply, superb meal at Peace and Loaf. Which was made even more enjoyable as it was a special occasion and it did not go unnoticed with a complimentary glass of fizz on arrival. The food is fabulous, there's a very interesting and different menu, and it's beautifully presented and explained by the waiting staff. The service by friendly staff is impeccable. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Newcastle, if not the region. After previously trying unsuccessfully to have dinner there (you need to book at least 2 weeks in advance for weekend reservations) we'll be back!
First visit and will not be the last. Every dish was excellent. Presentation spectacular. A very fair price for an unforgettable dining experience. Thankyou
We have been before, it wasn't as good as the first time around.
Service was quite slow, we were initially sat at a table near a draughty fire escape and our reward for informing the manager we hadnt been charged for our drinks was to be given an adjusted bill which was about £10 more than it should have been.
Food was still really amazing though and the set price menu is good value for money.
Outstanding as always, our favourite restaurant in the region by a long way.
Absolutely superb meal with business visitors from Japan who were amazed at the quality of ingredients and presentation but most pleased with the marriage of Asian flavours (Low Tide & Lamb, Madras, etc) and our local seasonal produce. Will be back soon.
Absolutely loved our first trip to Peace and Loaf , cant believe its taken this long to book up but it didn't fail to impress. The Raw Steak Pie dish was one of the best things i've ever eaten.
Such amazing value for money too.
Utterly sublime food. Don’t be put off by some of the whacky ingredients; they all work.
The canapés are extraordinary and could easily replace a starter.
Third visit, fab as always.
Amazing three courses.
My friends first visit, she’s going back with her partner.
As a gluten free diner, nice to be told to choose anything from menu.
I’m a fan, it’s my fave restaurant in town.
An inventive enticing menu. The food is superbly cooked and the staff are courteous and friendly. I know of no better restaurant than Peace and Loaf. A jewel in the crown for the city of Newcastle.
The food was overall great, but I personally didn’t enjoy their take on steak tartare. Too thick & chewy for my tastes.
Visited P&L from the beginning of its journey and I will continue to visit regular for as long as they serve food..
Without a doubt one of my favourite places to eat..from the fabulous food to the relaxed atmosphere and not forgetting friendly staff, who always make me feel so welcome!
Fantastic evening food and service as always looking forward to going back already
Fabulous experience. Wonderful food and exceptional service.
Another enjoyable evening and great food on the whole. We loved the canapés! Lamb was very fatty. We had a few different waitresses which meant a message wasn’t passed on properly. Also we had to wait much longer for dessert than other courses which left us feeling slightly disappointed at the end.
A meal at Peace and Loaf is an experience... A very modern menu, each dish appearing as a list of ingredients rather than having a title, and choice pre-meal and between-course snacks sometimes stealing the show. I had a tasty starter of mackerel with autumn fruits, then delicious sea trout with beetroot. Disappointing that the only potato side dish was chips in beef dripping, but the chef did prepare some rosti potato at my request. My fellow diner gave his lamb sweetbreads the thumbs up, but found the rhubarb strips in his main course a bit much. The overarching fruit theme was perhaps overdone, but came into its own with a dessert of deconstructed Cherry Bakewell.
Food and service was as excellent as ever. I wish they didn't stipulate a smart casual dress code and then let people wear hoodies, petty I know but it annoys me.
Outstanding, imaginative dishes and really good service with the right level of attentiveness and enthusiasm for the experience. Expensive at first glance but the quality of the food and service made it a good deal. Spent £20 per head less at a similar restaurant but Peace and Loaf was much more than £20 better. Would definitely like to return.
Favourite place to eat in Newcastle. Found this place 4 years ago and just keep going back. Love it 😍
Very different to a “normal” meal out. Reminded us of something you would get on master chef and tasted amazing. The flavour combinations are excellent and makes you really “taste” your food. Our server Alice was brilliant, very friendly girl who obviously has a passion for food. The rest of the staff were great too and help you with the menu. Compliments to an obviously very talented chef.
Out for dinner with my wife, first time here and not disappointed: great service from the start, tasting menu with pairs wines was superb and get buzz in the place!
We enjoyed a fabulous evening to celebrate our birthdays. The food was excellent and staff friendly.
We had the three courses for £30 which I thought was great value. Portions were small and perfect with the all the extras.
Would like to go back!
We had a great experience trying the taster menu and wines, staff were incredibly helpful and made the whole experience very enjoyable. The music played was definitely my thing, just a really fun evening and by all. Restaurant is clean, modern and all tables have plenty of room around them. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.
Our meal was exceptional, the canapés to start were delicious and so were the rolls. We had the soft shell crab and the sweetbreads as starters, which were fantastic. The drink selection and pricing were both good. The star of the show was the main course - we shared the beef for two. It was the best cut of meat I’ve ever had, I can’t underestimate how good it was. The flavor was amazing and the consistency was spectacular. Absolutely recommend and can’t wait to go again!
Came back for a second meal (a year later). The first meal was excellent, memorable. The second was nowhere near as good. Table was worst location, at the back near the kitchen and by a door to storage. Unpleasant smells of drains and later bleach. Service was fine, friendly and helpful. The wine was excellent. But the food was okay at best and not very memorable. One dish had been on the pass for a while and the colourful smears had faded and been baked on. I suspect it was an off night (we booked at 9pm but it felt like it was already end of service).
We visited while on holiday and the service and food was spectacular! Everyone was so patient with our wee babe who decided to find her voice while we were there, so we were able to enjoy a fantastic grown up lunch date. Special mention to the person who made a rattle out of kitchen things to entertain our girl 😊❤️
Fabulous in every way .. no further words required
First visit since re decoration and very impressed.
Food and service very good as usual and definitely the go to restaurant in Newcastle for special occasion.
We had the set early evening menu and the Lamb was outstanding.
We did not have a sweet as the starter and main and all the bits in between were more than enough and went with a very nice Portuguese red.
We had the lunchtime special and I can’t even put into words how amazing every course was. This is definitely the best place I have ate. There was 4 of us dinning. Every guest agreed it was outstanding. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Explaining every course as they served.
Excellent meal and brilliant staff. Started with cocktails served by Luke who was very friendly and informative and it only got better
Started with cocktails though because of my only criticism- the new booths are too small and table too low so waited for a normal table. Well worth the wait
This wasn’t our first visit and it will not be our last. The food is top drawer. Our waitress was a little quiet and a bit miserable, maybe just a bad day for her. However it didn’t spoil what is always a great dining experience.
After I asked if they had soya milk for my allergies and they didn't, our server ensured someone went out to get me some especially. The veggie options also had dairy in them so these were reimagined slightly by the chefs and still tasted absolutely incredible. It's definitely a 'treat' restaurant, with our bill coming in around £120.00 between two but *absolutely* worth it for the quality of meals and truly exceptional service.
We went just after the refurbishment and it looks lovely! The staff were very welcoming and the food was outstanding!
We are looking forward to going back :)
