Been looking forward to visiting this place for quite a while - the overall experience was good, however a few little things could be improved upon
1. Service was rushed especially at the start
2. Taster menu (we had B) had to many courses, with a few not what you would have expected on a tester menu (seemed as they were trying to pack it out - but no need
3. Pairing drinks were not listed either what was coming or when to expect the next one.
really enjoyed 90% of the food, but a few divisions below the like of House of Tides, Raby Hunt etc, but about the same money
Another stunning, the new post lock down tasting menus are a lovely balance of flavours.
Simply the best place to eat in Newcastle, beautifully crafted dishes by highly skilled chefs who truly know how to bring the best flavours from locally sourced ingredients.
The extra measures put in place made us feel very safe . The staff and the food were amazing , nothing was too much trouble. We liked that the waiter explained all of the courses and gave us details of where the produce had been sourced , it was a lovely touch !
A wonderful first meal out after lockdown. Staff were delightful and the food was delicious.
Fantastic dining experience at Peace and Loaf. They have made the necessary changes without it affecting the ambience and the quality of the food and service. Top notching tasting menu.
Absolutely fantastic. We have been a few times, and this was the most enjoyable trip so far.
The food is phenomenal, the staff are professional, friendly, and attentive.
We will definitely be back.
Surely the best restaurant in Newcastle! Love the tasting menu and great friendly, helpful staff. So glad to be back!
As ever, lunch was a dining experience! The food, service and innovative menu were first class. The flavours are amazing and you can pick out each one without the food being smothered in one strong flavour.
My daughter, who was visiting from London maintains that Peace & Loaf is the best restaurant she has ever visited, anywhere.
The dinner here is one of he the best we have ever had. Yes it is expensive but we are happy to pay for such excellent food and service in a not too noisy environment when it is a special occasion; and in these post Covid 19 times we are happy to pay a bit more. We had the middle menu which was more than enough and all delightful.
Absolutely brilliant, what a fabulous experience! Extremely talented chefs and the service was to match - we opted for Menu C with drinks pairings and thought it was wonderful - would definitely recommend and will definitely be back! Thanks again!
Outstanding quality and superb delivery. Barely noticed any affects due to social distancing. Brilliant job by the team from of house and in the kitchen.
First time visit but very impressed - will def be coming again ! ! !
Nice lunch. Well paced attentive friendly service complimented the good food. Thank you.
Great to get back here. Yes the staff were wearing masks but it still had the same vibe it always had. Food exceptional. Wine perfectly chosen. Cocktails delish. Can’t wait to book again.
Back to our favourite restaurant after lockdown
Highly recommended Peace and loaf as one of the best if not the best restaurant in Newcastle
We had a fantastic evening - we can't wait to come again.
Fab place, the most beautiful food & perfect service.
Our First restaurant visit following re-opening due to COVID 19. Despite the restrictions the atmosphere was relaxed the staff attentive and knowledgable and above the food was exemplary. One point of note. Please raise the light at the top of the stairs!!😁
From walking in to leaving we were totally at ease. The staff were their usual calm, friendly and efficient selves. The food was exceptional, we had the larger tasting menu with wine flight. Everything was fabulous the presentation and quality and of course the flavours that the kitchen achieve were just superb.
We just had to book again as we left and can’t wait.
Thanks everyone for bringing some normality back to us after months of being able to visit.
We have visited P&L on numerous occasions and every visit has been outstanding. This visit was as good as ever, food amazing, drinks divine and the staff superb. 10 / 10
Had a great time, the food was outstanding. Have been many times but think the taster menu we has was the best yet. They have evidently worked had to ensure the ambience was maintained despite covid rules. Thrilled to be back. Amazing food and service. Can't wait til next time.
We regularly visit Peace & Loaf and it never disappoints. It was great to see it open again and the food and service by the fantastic front of house team was just as good as ever! You have been missed!!
we have eat here so many times it’s my favourite place not sure what happened this time re food as 50% was excellent the rest average the meat dish was over cooked and the separate mash dish didn’t make sense it would have approached less courses and maybe more structured dish - the macaroons were amazing and the pudding were both lovely - i think i like it best when there’s a menu you can chose from other than tasting menus as i come often and i’ll have to come less if that’s all that’s on offer - aperol spritz for me and beer my husband had was amazing the team were exceptional and the clean covid provision were brilliant sad i left without feeling the same as all my previous times x x x will defo go back
Amazing food, excellent customer service will defiantly be back. Would highly recommend such a lovely experience and taste sensation.
Our first visit - straight in, to table, and served promptly throughout the multi-course meal. Will be back as soon as the balance on our gift voucher is sent through to us
Great to be back and eat in our favourite restaurant again
Fab meal as always and love the new menu too.
Had an amazing evening. Food was delicious and wine pairing wonderful.
Usually, we are major fans of Peace and Loaf. This time, though - our first visit post-quarantine - we were disappointed. The menus were different from usual, which wouldn't have been an issue if this change was reflected on the restaurant's website. But it wasn't. In addition, the menus were more expensive than usual, with the most basic version costing £40 per head. Considering that it barely differed from the usual, 'prix fixe' menu, which normally costs £25 (check website) per person, it felt like far too steep a mark-up for pretty much the same style menu. We understand the changes were likely required due to the pandemic, but we nevertheless found the price too steep (comparatively speaking) and feel the website should clearly state the changes to service/menu. Food wasn't bad, but not as good as it's been in the past.
Thoroughly enjoyable especially post-lockdown
The staff were excellent and very attentive. Outstanding knowledge about each dish and the wine pairing was well worth the additional cost. I have booked to go back with other friends travelling from Lancaster and sure I will keep returning. Loved the inventive, imaginative and well presented menu, cooked expertly.
Perfect first meal out after lock down. Lovely atmosphere and delicious food (as always)
Amazing to be back at Peace and Loaf. The options were tasting menus, which was a lovely surprise. Usual incredible quality and service. Eating there felt very safe (given recent lockdown easing), as the staff had taken precautions very seriously both in their own protective equipment, and with new transparent screens between closer tables (which were also further apart than usual) amongst other measures. This put me at ease rather than disrupting the meal.
This was my first outing since the lockdown. It was a combined celebration of our anniversary and valentines. It was expensive for a lunch but when food is so good It just seems worth the price.
Every course was a delight, the service was excellent and we have absolutely no complaints.
Will be back for dinner soon.
The restaurant is set up perfectly to cope with social distancing and the food and service are top class
Extremely well organised, welcomed warmly by friendly staff . All of us felt safe and secure which did It not spoil the ambience . The food was excellent and the service was first class. Looking forward to going back again .
Have visited Peace & Loaf previously, and was not disappointed again!. First meal out after lockdown and it was a gastronomic delight. Food could not have been better and staff were amazing as always. We went for £65.00 tasting menu and each course was delicious. Can't wait to go back again - my mouth is watering as I type!
We enjoyed a great evening and it was good to be back after lockdown. The food was fantastic and the service was very friendly and quick. We felt very safe with all the new measures in place and it was good to see that things are starting to get back to normal. All the food is amazing and very tasty and we would recommend to anyone.
We always love Peace and Loaf and will be returning. We had a meal on the last night before lockdown and the first night of opening after lockdown. We were disappointed on our recent visit with the bread course as instead of the lovely mini loaves it was simply a couple of slices of sour dough bread. The other criticism would be the mashed potatoes and gravy as an intermediary. We would rather have this mashed potatoes piped with our beef main.
However, the food was lovely as always and our minor criticisms in no way detract from the fact anyone who visits will have a lovely evening.
