Decent Chinese food! Not the cheapest but nicer ambience than most!
Waited over an hour for the lobster noodles. When it came, it was oily and not well done
Lovely food as always. Can get a bit noisy, as it’s one big room but otherwise it’s a lovely venue to have lunch or dinner.
The food was nice...the service however left a lot to be desired....staff responded to us in an agitated manner, they took an excessive amount of time to ask for our drinks order, and then forgot simple items (tap water).
Drinks that were bought and served directly at the bar were charged a service charge on the sly, the barman didnt provide the receipt but gave the amount due...very very sneaky and underhanded.
It's a shame the service brought down the overall review of the restaurant
The service at front desk was appalling I was completely ignored for almost 15 minutes and had to find someone despite having previously made a booking
The lobster noodles were delicious as always! Pearl Liang is definitely my favourite Chinese restaurant in London. Great quality food at reasonable prices.
Lobster noodles and Peking duck was excellent. Veg was good. Service was attentive too.
Great Dim Sum and lobster!!!
Excellent experience. Waitress was so friendly - really on the ball and and managed to be enormously friendly also even though she was busy. Really enjoyed it. Been here twice now and on both occasions food was really good with huge range of options. Full house both times. Definitely recommend.
The food here is always very nice and I come here a lot. Today we had a mix of dim sum and main dishes and everything was delicious. I recommend:
- Prawn and chive dumplings
- Monk’s vegetable dumplings
- Paper wrap sesame prawn rolls
- Barbecue pork cheung fun
- Braised pork
- Asahi beer
The staff were pleasant and professional and the tables aren’t too close together.
The only downside was the noise in the room. Since it’s basically one big room and it was full, the noise levels got really high so it was harder to hear each other speak. Other than that, it was a really great lunch.
This place is good for any time and occasion but also good for special occasions (get the lobster noodle) and business lunches/dinners. There’s a section for larger groups which is partitioned by a glass wall so keep that in mind for celebrations or large get togethers.
Felt food not quite as top notch as have had there on previous visits. Dim sum good - but unfortunately was there for dinner, so alot less choice. Although would still recommend the restaurant, would advise that one go for lunch, in order to experience the full range of the outstanding dim sum.
Food was much better a year ago.
We arrived the restaurant 5 mins early before our booking time and told us to wait and the waiter was very rude as I booked this table in advanced. We had to stay outside the restaurant in the freezing cold as the waiting seats were taken. Also the food took so long that we wanted to cancel some of the dishes but they said that they were still cooking the food. We ordered the lobster noodles and they said they ran out of stock and had to get the lobster delivered which took them 2-3 hours just to make one dish. Disappointing.
New Year. Appalling service and took 2 hours to bring the main course, which was cold. We left and they still charged for starters, drinks and service. Terrible place
Best Chinese in London!!! I don’t know how many times we’ve been here since moving to London :) See you soon!
Great food, one of the few establishments that I’ve visited that offer some dim sum during dinner service.
The food was really good. Everything we ordered, we were impressed with
Shanghai Pork Dumplings
Baked chicken and Wild Mushroom Pie
Pork and Radish Dumplings
Wasabi prawn dumplings
Chicken and sweet corn Soup
Sea bass Steamed Ginger and Spring Onion
King Prawns in Szechwan garlic and chilli
Sizzling beef black bean and chilli
Pan fried noodles with bean sprouts
Easy walking distance from Paddington and really worth a visit if you want to have Chinese away from the crowds in China Town.
Birthday celebration. Excellent service, lively ambiance and fantastic food.
My family visits this place very often . Food and service are great, good value for mony as well. We enjoyed our dinner with friends this time. All were happy.
Very poor experience. Starters were dry (kept warm too long before serving. Then a 50 minute wait for main course. Despite complaints to staff and the manager. The staff have a bad attitude and and the manager could not care less. They only focus on serving drinks to large parties, other customers are left to wait. Food was poor and cold!!!!
Quite comfortable lovely location
Service without a smile! This may sound a tad patronising but it felt as if staff did not particularly want to assist us. Misleading food which looked and tasted nothing like its menu description. The setting is nice but definitely won't be rushing back!
Surprisingly wide range of choices of small dishes - great to sample and share, very authentic, everything has a unique and different taste (which is not always the case). Too bad we could not sample more. Shanghai dumplings are worth the trip.
This is my 2nd visit here but the service was absolutely ridiculous with only 2 waiters on a FRIDAY night, it was like lucky dip to get their attention to place your order.
Pearl Liang is tucked away in Paddington Central. The restaurant is dark but attractive. The service was reasonably prompt but not personal. The menu choices were slightly limited for my Chinese friend. The pork dish was too salty and the prawns a bit dry.
I go and have at least one meal every time I visit London as to me they provide a reasonable Chinese meal that are more authentic and not adjusted too much to local taste. This visit was not as good as before as the food seems deteriorated a little. Hope this is just one off and I shall return again on my next visit.
Great lobster noodles & aromatic duck. Reasonable prices for both. Decent small dishes too. I'll be back.
Fabulous menu. Superb sea bass. The restaurant got very busy in the evening but their service and and attention to our table did not change.
I took my mum, my brother, and cousins to eat out. Service is always good, staff always polite and friendly. There was never any rush from staff whilst we waited for my brother whom arrived late. Food came out ok, we had laughs and a lovely evening. Special thank you to the two ladies whom served us (Charlene and Pan) they were very friendly and took our orders accordingly. I have been here twice now in two months and will surely visit again.
Roast duck and lobster noodles is always a winner.
Overall good food
As usual amazing meal. One of the best kept secrets in London
It was beautiful, the food was nice and so was the service. This may be my new favourite chinese restaurant
Open table booking did not go through to the restaurant but they accommodated us inspite of being busy. Thanks.
I reserved the restaurant for my brothers birthday. I was not disappointed for the last time I came to the restaurant was 8 years ago. Staff who served us was very friendly, polite, she interacted with us and clearly took time to understand each individuals choice of food. My party really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere so I was very pleased. Food was delicious, service was fast and prompt. Price overall for the amount of food we ordered was also reasonable compared to if we went elsewhere to eat. I and my party would definitely will return again very soon. Thank you to the lady who served us it was a pleasant evening.
Excellent food and service. Never disappoints! We have been going there for the last 10 years.
favorite of mine
