I took my other half here for dinner as part of his birthday present, and we had a wonderful night. The service at the restaurant as fantastic; all waiters and waitresses were extremely attentive and helpful. Most of all, however, the food was superb. I had a lobster tempura day (from the specials menu) and my other half had lamb rump. We were both extremely impressed by the quality of the meal, as it truly was delicious and the perfect meal for a special birthday.
It was a wonderful experience which my husband still talks about one week on! We went there for my husband's birthday, but didn't particularly mention to the restaurant. However, when we finished our main course, here came lovely ginger ice cream with a candle on on a decorated plate! What a brilliant surprise! The staff were all unassuming and attentive. We will definitely go back.
One of the best restaurants I have been in for a while, the place was buzzing which is rare now days. Staff very friendly and attentative and the food so fresh. The Oysters chilled to perfection and delicious as were the plump juicy scallops followed by the main meal of a crab salad. Sorry to say did not have room for dessert. We will be back. Highly recommended.
The cliff top setting gives spectacular views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and the food, service and ambience doesn't disappoint either. Beautifully prepared local produce is delivered with well judged, helpful and never intrusive service. The portions are generous and the choice varied with an excellent wine and bread selection to accompany the food all at a reasonable price considering the quality. All in all a first class dining experience that helped make my birthday celebration even more memorable.
Perfect venue, stunning veiws over the water, staff had a total can do attitude, thank you
Very welcoming on arrival. Plenty of space to have a pre dinner drink.
The menu had so much variety. Meat and Fish lovers will be in their element and the Vegetarian options looked interesting too.
Food arrived swiftly and the seafood platter was an amazing feast.
Best dish for me was the Monkfish and Prawn Stir Fry. I am hungry now just thinking about it.
No rush to make us leave either. We had a great time and it will be a fantastic birthday memory for my mum.
Thanks to all the staff we will return soon.
The only real downside to our evening is that the meals are rather too large - delicious though. Service very good and mostly friendly. One waitress was rather off hand but the others were great. It is expensive but because it is so nice, with wonderful views, we felt it was good value.
Very impressive wine list. Imported wines at a reasonable price. Food excellent and portions very fair. Can't wait to return.
This was the third time my wife and I had been to Pebble Beach. The food as usual was great and we had thoroughly enjoyable evening.
A perfect night with excellent food
Lovely view but the windows could do with a good wash. Expensive for just a lunch 2 courses just under £80! Only a few people were eating the price is probably why.
Not up to usual high standard, perhaps too busy with not enough staff on duty.
Very good meal. The table d'hote menu was easy to choose from. Dover Sole was excellent (although quite a lot of roe on the fish), and Duck was superb. Wine came a little too promptly before the main course had arrived. We hadn't finished our aperitif wine/fruit juice.
Very good sticky toffee pudding.
I went for lunch with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We had the fish and chips which were delicious followed by the rhubarb desert which was superb. Very attentive service and we sat at a table overlooking the sea, glorious. Only gave 4stars for service purely because there was a language issue with one of the staff who struggled to understand our request when asking to place our order.
My husband and I enjoyed a delightful evening meal on Friday night. Although not full, there was a good atmosphere. The food was delicious and I tried the John Dory which was the first time on the new menu. I was pleased when the chef asked for feedback. We did have to wait a while for the bill but I think it was due to a lot checking out at the same time. Staff were very helpful and attentive. There were a couple of families with older children who were well looked after. I would love to return for lunch to enjoy the wonder views from the terrace.
Following a disappointing meal last time I am very pleased that things are back to the normal experience of great food ,responsive service and warm atmosphere. My sea bass fillet was cooked to perfection and well presented, the chocolate based dessert was, as usual, to die for.
The only negative comment was the high cost but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for"
Great service, food, atmosphere, thanks to all at PB.
Enjoyed an extremely pleasant Sunday evening meal here. Good service, and excellent food. Recommend the "plate of desserts" for two; great choice of desserts and plenty of them!
We took my mother for a birthday lunch last week and the Restaurant made n
her feel very special. Food excellent as always
Dined on Valentines evening, service was exceptional, all the staff were extremely polite and pleasant, the food unbelievably good a little pricey but worth paying that extra for such good quality.
Set on the cliff top at Barton on Sea, this restaurant looks quite modest from the outside, but step in and you will find it extends back and back until you hit the view of the sea!
There is a bar area for a pre lunch/dinner drink while you peruse the menus, all explained in some detail by the very attentive staff. Once you have chosen, you are shown to your table, and they all have sea views, although obviously some better than others.
Service was crisp and friendly, food was plentiful and tasty, with a good selection of wines to choose from. We ended by sharing a cheese plate which was enough for two and some good coffee.
We ate inside as it was winter, but in the summer there is a large deck with views to die for.
A great experience and one I'd recommend.
Generally Valentine's day sees overpriced food and rushed poor service, not at Pebbles. Restaurant manageress was attentive and professional, service good and food excellent for quality and value. Nicest part was not being rushed and able to enjoy the day. Excellent.
Once again another fabulous meal from Pebble Beach, always excellent in all respects.
We've not been for a few years, despite having been a number of times in the past decade or more. It was as good an experience as it always was, in every respect. It's not a cheap meal, but by and large the price-tag is well worth it. Seafood is excellent, but so too are the other options. There's a good bar (they can make a proper Martini cocktail, without instructions, for example), and the service is just the right blend of attentive and unobtrusive. Although we went on a dark and stormy night, we know the setting can be magical.
When we have visited Pebble Beach in the past we have been made to feel really special, on this evening though we were not pleased with the experience. The food was well cooked prepared and presented but the intervals between arriving, ordering and getting the food and then the bill were extreme and unfortunately we left feeling sad that our most favourite local restaurant had let us down. Let us hope that this is not the norm. The absence of the discount vouchers for local regulars is regretted.
We always book a meal (usually lunch) at Pebble Beach whenever we are passing through the area and have never yet been disappointed. This time we were lucky enough to have a bright sunny day in January and the solar gain through the large windows kept us nicely warm as well as giving magnificent views out to the Needles. The food is consistently food and the service attentive but unobtrusive. We just wish we lived closer to be able to go more often.
Entertained a life long friend (42 years) to a meal with my wife and I, on a Friday when she was visiting us. We all thought it was great, however the prices have nudged up a little and at £42 per head inc a bottle of wine, we thought that the price was a little on the high side, we did not all have 3 courses - food is great well done!
I was always taught that if you have nothing good to say, say nothing. However I have been asked to review my lunch at Pebble Beach so I will. We live a short walk from PB but after a very disappointing experience a few years ago have not been back until last week when we decided to give it another try. It would be very handy to have a good restaurant on our doorstep. Sadly little has changed and nothing has improved. The restaurant itself is tired and dull. It was a beautiful day and yet the lovely view of the Needles is obscured by narrow windows and thick curtains. The place is badly in need of a revamp. Sadly the food is as dull as the place itself. Marinated salmon that tasted of nothing but the overpowering oil poured over it, a seafood cocktail which seemed far from fresh, a reasonably well cooked confit duck leg had dauphinoise potatoes which were tasteless and of an unpleasant texture. The real nail in the coffin was a totally overcooked fillet of sea bass, completely ruined and off-putting. We gave up and skipped dessert. Service was prompt and pleasant, wines by the glass good. The prices charged are very high compared to other much better restaurants a few miles away and, considering the poor quality of the food, represented very poor value for money. It will be more than a few years before we return again.
My wife and I were staying in the Christchurch area and found Pebble Beach on the internet.
We were blown away by the quality of the food and the excellent customer service.
We liked it so much we immediately rebooked for the second night.
We will definitely return!
The last time we ate at Pebble Beach was about 3 years ago. We had such a bad experience that we vowed never to return, and since have regularly eaten at other local establishments. However to mark my Wife's birthday we decided to give it another try, and are glad that we did, the service, food and ambience was excellent, we could not fault any aspect of our visit.
We love this restaurant. Fresh fish, great cooking and views of the sea. This was our third visit and we will go again.
We had lunch, and mixed items from the main menu and the set menu for the day. The Breton fish soup is outstanding, It is authentic and compares very well to the ones I have had in Brittany. The lamb was cooked perfectly, pink in the middle and tender.
The service was good, attentive but not too 'in your face' . The service at Pebble beach has improved tremendously.
The ambience, the view, and the location are just perfect.
We have been dining at Pebble Beach for some years, this lunch was excellent, probably the best we have had there. Our waitress Kirstie was superb, so helpful and efficient. In all a great wedding anniversary lunch!
Pebble beach offers Michelin quality food, and the modern restaurant offers fabulous views over the Isle of Wight.
The area where we were sat was very cramped. On the(very close) next table were three very loud youngish men who appeared to be the worse for drink. We had to wait nearly three quarters of an hour between the starter and the main course while others who arrived later were served before us. Later four gentlemen in working clothes were sat on a neighbouring table, they were perfectly respectable, but it makes you wonder whether dressing up for a special occasion at a rather pricey restaurant is worth the bother. The waiting staff were pleasant and the food acceptable but this did not compensate for a very disappointing celebration.
Went for pre Xmas family meal. Great food, wine, service and ambience. Everyone enjoyed it Bethany you all
Difficulty in obtaining a booking some ten days ahead of our hoped-for date lead us to believe that we were into something special.
We were not disappointed.
knowing of the 'fishy' reputation, our selections were pointedly, scaly!
My partner's Lemon sole, following prawn tempura, albeit somewhat generous in scale, was divine - I was even able to share a small portion.
My Sea Choucroute following the Breton fish soup, was all-encompassing with a satisfying variety but thankfully, not too over-filling. My only one small comment (trying to be helpful to the engine-room) was that I found the haddock(?) sausage somewhat overly salty.
All in all, a very satisfying night out!
Although it was quieter on arrival than previously, it gradually became busier and more enjoyable as the evening progressed. MY sea bass fillets were beautifully cooked and presented and my partners goujons duo were delicious as usual. The chocolate orange fondant, which is my favourite, just melted in the mouth but was so filling I could not have any thing else. My white wine had some white sediment which I was assured was not detrimental but nevertheless the cost was not included in the final bill. This is just the positive attitude that puts Pebble Beach at the top of our list of dining places in this area.
This is a great restaurant in a splendid location with fabulous views, fish is a specialty and the standard of food and service is very good and is consistent.
This dinner was good as usual, however portion sizes of the stir fry starters and the main course vegetables were too small. The vegatables that we had ware perfectly cooked and the fish was delicious.
Although we had a great evening there were a number of small areas where the food and service weren't up to the normal excellent standards (to be expected at this price point). This why I have scored it 4 instead of my usual 5.
I was bought a voucher for my birthday and was not disappointed. The staff and service were excellent and the food amazing. We were lucky enough to sit by the huge window so had a wonderful view too. Will definitely return in the summer to dine outside.
