Fabulous food and service in a lovely location.
Kind and attentive staff, well timed and well presented food and drinks. Flavours delicious. Well done.
Terribly overpriced for what you get; yes the food is good but the quirkiness doesn't warrant to prices. It is still a garden centre!
Have been going there a long time and it is always excellent. Food is amazing with great seasonal tastes, the staff are very good at suggesting things as they have obviously tasted the food. Such a happy place with a lovely ambience. Have many happy memories and my daughters who went there when young can still remember the food Skye Gyngell gave them.
The Everest family are great fans.
My daughter and i visited the nurseries for lunch to celebrate 'international woman day'.
The setting is lovely, food was good but very overpriced if we compare to Italy (where we live), but in London they can charge a lot more than in Rome.
Only thing we didn't like, and couldn't drink was the coffee, (espresso) this seems to be very common in restaurants in the Uk, the food can be good...but very difficult to get a good espresso
Great place to catch up for lunch with a girlfriend who has her hands full with a set of twins!
Having been to the teahouse many times over the years i’ve been very keen to try the restaurant. I went there for a girl’s get together and it was wonderful. The food is delicious, great quality and the setting and ambiance amongst the plants and flowers and within a sort of greenhouse on a soil floor makes you feel like you’re eating outside. It’s really special in my view if you like beautiful rustic charm and quality ingredients. The weekend queue for the teahouse was incredibly long though and the restaurant could do with some dedicated toilets but I expect that’s down to planning restrictions. I would love to come for one of their supper clubs with the fairy lights on!
Nice food, amaizing location!!
Service a bit slow, but they helped us cooking the meal for the kid first!!
The most beautiful place with delicious interesting food and fabulous knowledgeable service
An amazing experience to dine in glasshouse among lots of plants. It is a very authentic place. Dogs friendly. Lots of space between tables so you can have an intimate conversations without a problem. Anchovies mayo dip was outstanding, big and good selection on wines, friendly and professional service. The only down side is that toilets are outside and just few of them for such a busy and vibrant place. Highly recommend to visit!
Fantastic venue, we had such a magical time! It defenetrly has got a wow factor as you walk in, and we were not disappointed throughout the meal either.
What a great place. Super relaxed and very elegant. Amazing service and great food.
They respect ingredients and treasure organic origin so it’s a must
Amazing....wonderful staff who really made my daughters 30th birthday lunch one to remember. So so special. Food delicious and visually exceptional.
As usual just perfect !!! It is always great food and service , we enjoy it very much every times
I am voting with my feet and not going back .There was a queue of people waiting for a table when we left so maybe I am in the minority. £299 for Sunday lunch for 4 ?
Not a patch on the French Table in Surbiton or The Glasshouse in Kew
Service was good though!
Outstanding service and ambiance for a special occasion.
This was a friend’s birthday treat and it could not have been better on this horrible rainy windy cold day! We felt outside in a beautiful véranda décor while nice and cosy under heaters. Our waiter was very dedicated and knew everything from the chef to the ingredients on the menu! A rare and much appreciated training nowadays...
the food was amazing from starters to desserts and we also quite enjoyed our Bellinis. We had octopus salad and sweetbread dish both very edgy but remarkably executed. The puddings are very British but again executed in a very sophisticated way with exotic flavours such us ginger. Loved it and shall come back!
Also loved the garden center were a wonderful Irish lady was very articulate on every plant we looked at so much so I ended up buying 2.
Not the same response however when we tried to speak to the event coordinator to know if we could organise coffee mornings for bigger groups... the lady was in a rush to leave and did not even take the time to give us her card;(
We had been looking forward to going to Petersham Nurseries for a while and, therefore, we were disappointed when it didn't live up to expectations. While there are some positives (the food was lovely and the setting is very nice); unfortunately we left feeling rather underwhelmed. It is clearly not a place equipped for rain - we had to walk through muddy puddles to reach both the restaurant and then again to reach the outdoor toilets. The outdoor toilets were freezing cold and, again, muddy. This all might have been bearable had we been greeted with a nice warm welcome - instead, the front of house staff were, quite simply, rude. Customer service is certainly not high on their list of priorities and we felt as though we were just an inconvenience to them. Overall, the experience did not live up to the price at all. In order to justify the (high) prices on their menu and wine list, I think Petersham Nurseries needs to rethink the whole customer experience. Although we liked the food, we still left feeling that the place was pretentious and overpriced. What a shame for the kitchen when it's all the other aspects that is letting the restaurant down.
Beautiful venue, even on a rainy day! Food is delicious
A calamitous Sunday lunch experience. Where does one start? A beautiful setting marred by a kitchen failing to deliver the food and service demanded by its menu’s prices. Selling out of roast lamb by 2pm on a Sunday is a consequence of the restaurant not ordering enough meat for what is obviously going to be the most popular dish on a sub day. Advising you of this 20 minutes after they’ve taken your order is beyond amateurish. All our diners courses arrived arrived at different times. A substitute grilled Dover sole for the lamb looked and tasted exactly the same as a baked Dover sole ate by a fellow diner. The kitchen had simply ignored the request for the fish to be grilled. The management’s derisory token gesture of complementary £5 roast potatoes as an apology for the problems we experienced wasn’t even taken off the bill! We escalated the matter on leaving after chatting with a senior member of staff who said our experience was completely unacceptable and an additional £60 was subsequently deducted. At over £75 per head I’d sooner eat my sole at Scott’s any day. Petersham Nurseries? Never again.
We have been to Petersham a few times when Sky was head chef. Unfortunately, we have not been back for a while. We were still impress with the service, food and our waiter. He was more than excellent. He knew how the dishes were prepared and while he was attentive, he did not make excessive fuss. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and our walk home.
I would add, the voucher we receive as a gift did not extend to more than a year. The person I spoke to when I tried to extend the expiry date would not expend it to more than a month. It would be helpful if Petersham could extend their gift voucher to more than a month.
Wanted somewhere to treat my wife and this hit all the right notes. The nursery and shop were great (albeit expensive) and the restaurants eclectic style was lovely. Service excellent, food options clearly explained and my wife loved it.
Delicious food in a lovely setting. I took my parents out for lunch and this was perfect as they are keen gardeners! Service was good and they were great at looking after my special dietary needs which meant there were plenty of things I could choose from on the menu.
Still a unique spot with great food. Nothing to touch it in the area
All great, pricy but service and food is really good. The ambience is amazing and something quite different that the usual fine dining restaurant. I would not order any coffee after dining though as the espresso was not good!
Beautiful place just difficult to get to.
One of my favourite places. An absolute gem. The atmosphere, the food and the browsing all wonderful. I drive 2 hours just to meet my friends for lunch I love it so much
Impeccable food in a beautiful countryside atmosphere
I first dined with my friends and enjoyed so much both food and the atmosphere, I decided to take my family. My kids being vegan and vegetarian (and having nut allergy!), I was slightly nervous but they made sure to replace any dairy on vegetarian dish to accommodate vegan, and also made a careful attention for nut allergy. The floor staff are fantastic. The reason I only gave 3 stars for food was because my lamb dish was a bit disappointing. When I was ordering I had thought to request to make sure that meat comes pink in the centre but decided to against as I assumed they would do so without asking as the restaurant like Petersham would know how to cook. But sadly the meat was served well done and it completely changes the flavour and texture when it's not cooked right. Though I know they use high quality ingredients, I felt what I got lamb with kale was fairly pricy (£25) especially when the meat was not cooked properly.
The both restaurant and cafe was completely packed and I fear the kitchen could not simply coop with the volume of dishes they had to produce quality food. Having said that, because it is such a magical place I think I will go back, and I hope the popularity will not let the restaurant compromise the quality any further. Or opening of cafe in Covent Garden may mark the end of attention to detail. I hope next visit will prove me wrong!!
Beautiful setting, but the food was a terrible let down. The risotto was watery, the Dover Sole tiny, and the lamb was fatty and stewed, not what was described on the menu. We had a half hour wait between starter and main, which was made more annoying by the heating system directly above our heads, which was almost scalding......we repeatedly asked for it to be turned down.
The staff were excellent however, and a 2nd small Dover Sole was produced after we complained. Sadly, our lunch was rather ruined by then.
Was a lovely pre Christmas dinner and was perfect for starting off the festivities. Very beautiful setting with good service and great food.
Warm welcome. Nice location outside town. You get a feeling of being in the countryside. Bellidrink super. Creative and good food, except the risotto that not all in the company appreciated. Will come back.
The idea is really cute but as there had been rain the road up to the restaurant was muddy and full of potholes . The restaurant is cute but the trip to the toilet again was outdoors and muddy and not pleasant . I had the lamb which was tasty although not much salt on the food and also was fatty.
The cheese and crackers were great though .
Overall I think that the restaurant was overpriced for what it presented. Two blini cocktails, lamb main course and artichoke for my daughter and cheese and crackers for me and the date pudding - total £92!!!
This was our second time to eat at the restaurant, it was truly amazing.
It was just perfect for a pre- Christmas lunch.
As my partner is Gluten Free, sometimes the menu can be limited , not at Petersham , the choice was fabulous.
The service is what really let's Petersham Nurseries Café down though: incredibly slow, not very knowledgeable staff, and I was quite rudely told my wine was 'not expensive enough to be decanted' - despite the bottle being full of sediment. The location is lovely, and the food pretty good - but it's quite easy to eat better food for less In Londo.
Sadly we left Petersham disappointed, over-priced chicken, over-attentive waiter disturbing conversation, over-priced wines, staff cruising around in white aspiring to be some glamorous diner, 12.5% service charged added to bill and a very rowdy table of mothers who appeared to care little for those around them. All-in-all, an unsatisfactory experience other than the food was good.
Beautiful in every way. A very special place with faultless cooking. Perfect.
The food is not bad, but worse than two years ago.
there are not available wardrobe room to put my coat, and the ground is full of loess, that's why coat is very easy to slip from the stool to the ground makes very, very dirty.
Very pleasant long lunch. Service was excellent and atmosphere unique. Made a special event for a family birthday.
Absolutely loved it an amazing food! The spiced pomegranate panecotta was phenomenal
