Petersham Nurseries Cafe
It is a place of calm, away from the bustle of London, that respects and is in tune with nature and positive living.
The Boglione family, who own the nurseries and live in the adjoining Petersham House are rooted to their blend of British and Italian culture which remains at the heart of the business and is reflected in the style of the food that is served. Petersham Nurseries Café is inspired by what is growing in our kitchen garden and by the produce supplied to us by our sister company, Haye Farm.
Whilst maintaining their passion for simplicity, flora, fauna and responsibly sourced produce they have created an unparalleled setting just outside of central London.
Not cheap (even with no alcohol), - but perfect for a birthday treat - althou' I was miffed that some desserts came out bearing a candle and mine didn't (staff DID know as I was greeted with a "happy birthday".
Excellent attention to diets/allergies & food of very high quality and beautifully presented.
Waitress friendly and chatty without being intrusive.
Left with a big smile.
Lovely setting and delicious food! Would definitely visit again though felt it was a bit hot and cramped in there.
I’ve been wanting to visit Petersham nurseries for approximately 15 years! So happy to have had the opportunity and it was lovely to celebrate my fellow florist friend Emma’s birthday there.
Excellent food, wine & service! It was awesome, thank you very much.

Calm warm comfortable
I had heard good things about Petersham but it was even prettier a venue than I expected. It might be less so in very hot or very cold weather, but we had a perfect day for it and a delicious meal.
Re the restaurant - It is an enjoyable location but the food is just ok with small portions. I have not tried the cafe but suspect it might be more fun and similar food there. (and cheaper).
We loved our visit and lunch was very good although we did think it was rather pricey.
Our waitress was adorable and extremely efficient. Our guests had a wonderful time. We’ll be back!
Incredibly beautiful and idyllic setting. and great food
Everything was just perfect. You can see, taste and feel the passion of the chefs and hospitality staff. Our server Frankie was very good and helpful, the generally cheery disposition of staff definitely enhanced our experience.
I Love it more and more every time I visit! Genuinely it is soul food for me!
Always a culinary delight in unusual surroundings! Staff superb and friendly. I took my 88 year old mother for a new experience and was aware she may struggle with the uneven ground but we managed and she loved it.. car park attendant was especially helpful in finding us a space near the entrance. We were sat outside with threatening weather so would have been interesting to know what would have happened had it rained... it’s expensive in the restaurant but worth it for a special occasion... cafe would be a cheaper option. Love it there, always enjoy a day out at PN..
Beautiful setting, excellent service, very tasty food and relaxed atmosphere. Great for a special occasion.
Fabulous surroundings and beautiful ambience!
A few errors were made with our food but this was deal with so kindly and
efficiently by our waiter that we barely noticed!
The food was outstanding and complimented the beautiful plants and flowers that surrounded us!
Will definitely return!
Petersham nurseries cafe in Richmond is the prettiest space, with the coolest staff and the most delicious food imaginable. It is by far and away my favorite restaurant and go to place for special occasions. The flavors are fabulous, ingredients so fresh and locally sourced and the presentation exquisite. In the summer diners sit outside under a canopy of green and in winter, in the conservatory surrounded by flowers and twinkling lights. A treat not to be missed.
The food and service was outstanding, super fresh and flavoursome ingredients cooked to perfection. We could not flaw any dish. The people were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was perfect. Highly recommend! It made a special occasion a day to remember.
Fantastically cooked and prepared locally sourced and traceable foods served by knowledgeable smiley staff in a stunning location, perfect.
The front of house was shockingly rude and aggressive when we arrived 1 minute after the 15 mins table holding time, having called ahead to apologise too. There was a wedding party due later and they wanted to get people fed and out but the slow service thereafter did not justify her attitude. Very disappointing.
I booked a special lunch for my husbands birthday.
The food was delicious. It is a pricey lunch however the quality of the food was fantastic. A real treat for a special occasion.
Very welcoming. A beautiful setting with fresh, well presented food. A real treat.
The cafe was absolutely stunning
From the moment we walked in we were enchanted with the decor
The menu was extensive & catered for my friend who is gluten free
The staff were friendly & attentive
The service was first class. Drinks came prompt. Meals arrived quickly. Beautifully presented, hot & delicious
The staff checked to see if everything was to our satisfaction regularly
The only thing that slightly spoilt our afternoon was a large party arriving just as we were having coffee. The table was quite close to us & the people were very raucous & one lady kept flicking her hair over us !!!
We were leaving anyway so we didn’t have to endure it for long
The restaurant is beautifully presented and we were received be a very welcoming member of staff. The staff were knowledgeable but not pushy in any sense. The food was fantastic, we both had the sole and would highly recommend!
Overall- fantastic meal and would definitely return for a special occasion!
Lovely setting with great decor but let down by surprisingly average food at extortionate prices. Do not mind paying extra for fantastic quality (living in London after all) but couldn't say that this was worth it. Would go back to buy more flowers - but will not be eating there again.
This is the most lovely venue.
Food and wine delightful x
Such amazing flavours in a beautiful setting. An English gem, with lovely Italian wine. The crab bruschetta was the best I can remember tasting
Absolutely gorgeous, a real treat, I would reccommend this place. The aroma from the Jasmine made it feel like we were eating somewhere in the Med, not Richmond. The food was delicous and the staff were very attentive without being overbearing. Cannot wait to go again.
Beautiful surroundings with tasty, healthy and well presented dishes. Although rustic and picturesque, the rickety, small outdoor metal tables and chairs are pretty uncomfortable. The quality of produce is excellent and the delivery of the meals was faultless but in my opinion the steep £30 per main course price tag is not justified because the dishes are not technically complex or of fine dining standard. It is lovely and it is a treat to enjoy the atmospheric bubble for a couple of hours but on reflection, it is massively over-priced. I’d love to go more often but the pricing is ridiculous.
A delightful and unique experience. We enjoyed a wonderful meal with friends and all agreed we must eat here again. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, the staff were friendly and helpful and the setting was incredibly charming. I am a coeliac and the staff were knowledgeable and very accommodating, providing gluten free bread and advice as to what I could eat and what could be adapted.
This is the second time I have eaten at Petersham and a fabulous time was had by all of us. Food delicious, ambience perfect. A wonderful and genteel way to spend an afternoon in the company of very good friends in a beautiful setting, eating delicious food and no sense of being hurried on at all. I would highly recommend Petersham Nurseries Cafe and will gladly visit again soon, despite living 1.5 hours away.
On a sunny summer day, is there a better place for a leisurely lunch? Sitting under vine clad terraces on crunchy hoggin floor, the food largely becomes irrelevant. Glasses of spritz and rose pour forth, whilst you enjoy simply ingredients well cooked and presented. Le bon vivant!
Petersham is wonderful. Every time we eat there we are guaranteed amazing food and amazing service.
Booked the restaurant to celebrate a special birthday with friends and it was everything I hoped for and more. I have wanted to dine here for a few years now, as been to the Teahouse and shop many times and it really was fabulous. The food is divine and everything about the surroundings and staff make it an extra special location. I was asked if I would like a cake made by the team as it was a special birthday and was completely blown away by how beautiful, original and tasty it was. I have been inundated with thanks from my friends who shared the experience with me. Do go and don't wait for a special occasion. Wish I still lived nearby.
We got the latest table available in the afternoon as we were travelling to London so the place was starting to empty out so was not as buzzy as we expected and everything was being cleared away around us. It was a nice day, weather was good enough to sit outside which is lovely. Food was fine, but very expensive for a lunch. Wine also very expensive and then 12.5% service charge . Food was ok but not outstanding. So overall glad we tried it but would not rush back.
I think Petersham nurseries is now one of my favourite places. It’s like a fairytale dining experience!
Great setting and service. Food is average and prices not reflective of menu served. Good quality produce but 0 creativity with the menu. It’s almost like they know people are keen to sit outdoors in a garden so they can’t be bothered scratching their heads for an interesting menu. Wouldn’t come back.
This was my first visit and I cannot wait to return. The food was delicious and served in one of the nicest settings I have ever experienced. The staff were extremely attentive - we were even asked if we needed a hat as it was very sunny!
Wonderful food, beautiful location. We had a lovely time!!
First time in Richmond, met all the park deers, then had great lunch @ Petersham. Quail & Pork are really great
Great atmosphere, lovely set up underneath the trees and flowers.
The food was really good and our waiter of good advice. Drinks were good too, would definitely recommend. Went as a couple and had a great time!
Beautiful setting with amazing food! Would definitely recommend with the bonus of plant shopping!!
Expensive but maybe would expect that in Richmond. Beautiful gardens and nice for a special occasion.
