We are regulars here for a pre-show lunch. Always good food and service so you are not in a panic to get your seat. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
It was a lovely restaurant to go to before a show. The service was quick, the waitress Sarah was friendly definitely going to this restaurant again before any shows I go.
sadly there were not too many diners - think people tend to go to theatre and eat before and in interval
Went with friends, very comfortable dinning. The staff were very attentive and friendly . All meals were delightful and service was prompt. The menu is has a reasonable amount of choices. I enjoyed the food so did everyone else and yes happy to go there again.
The food here is exceptional. The staff are professional and helpful. Overall we would strongly recommend the pre theatre dining experience.
Highly recommend- v high standard of food and service
We enjoyed our meal at Pier Eight although my wife dudn’t enjoy her starter .However this was deducted from our bill ! The panna cotta was ice but it was too thin and the texture was not as firm as it should have been .However overall the meal was good and the service was even better .
May one criticism would be that the tables around the sides of the room are too close together leaving a very small space to squeeze through to get to your seat .Which would be very hard for people with a larger build and the closeness of other tables inhibitis converstation
The food and service was good and the atmosphere in the restaurant pleasant. Good place to eat before going into the theatre
Lovely meal as we were not sure if it was the place to take god friends , we all enjoyed our food and left clean plates , the staff were attentive and pleasant .
This is the second time I have been to Pier 8 following my son’s graduation ceremonies. It is in the Lowry Centre where the degree congregations took place so very convenient. My party consisted of my elder son, my younger son, two of my younger son’s friends and me. Food was good. Excellent scallops to start, well-cooked cod for my main. One of my son’s friends raved about his chocolate dessert. Very pleasant space to eat in - modern and light, with great views over the Quays. Just right for a wide age range. Would go more often but live in North Norfolk!
We had a pre booked table in expectation of it being busy as it was university graduation day. But is was almost empty!! The food was lovely - lots of choice for all six of us ( some vegan ) and good size portions . Nice location ( our table overlooked the quay) and friendly staff. Overall, a great time was had by all. The icing on the cake would have been a slightly livelier ambiance, but we can’t dictate the number of customers I suppose .... 😊😊
Scallops were lovely and chocolate gateau was particularly good. Service was excellent.
Loved my special graduation meal! Great menu, great food (the chips are to DIE for!) and the staff were lovely and very attentive. They couldn’t have made the meal any better than it was.
The staff were excellent-very attentive and accommodative for our family member in a wheelchair. The setting and decor was smart and the food overall was of a good standard except for the chips which were frozen which was very disappeared and surprising considering the quality of the other food. There is no excuse for serving frozen chips. Ever.
We selected from the pre-theatre menu deal. The choice of starters, main and desert was limited. Our waitress was KT and she was lovely, friendly and very helpful. Service was good and quick to be made.
The food was good imaginative and light. There was a good selection. The wine list was quite good. The service was excellent. The ambience and the view were good and some tables outside.
Good service, food ok , choice limited esp for vegetarian options. A bit pricey for what’s on offer and the extra supplements charged for some meals are a bit cheeky - should be all same as some options must cost the restaurant less to make. OK for pre theatre but better value and choice locally.
Far more expensive than on my previous visits. Used to have the 3 course meal (paying an odd supplement here and there) but now all the sides are extra as well! Portions are quite small in some cases and I do not feel that we had value for money at all. Shame as I had previously recommended Pier 8 to lots of my friends.
Efficient service and sleek attention
Poor value for money
Good for the odd occasion
Fantastic food and love fact you can pre order/pre pay for your pudding/accompanying drink, to be waiting for you in the interval.
loved the food had the thearter menu 2 course for £23 drinks good service was quick an easy overall had a good night
My wife and I had a very pleasant meal before going to the theatre. The service was prompt and unlike some places where I have eaten before a theatre trip, we felt under no pressure to get through the meal in time although the restaurant was quite full. The food was good also.
Visiting the theatre, so very convenient, and good timing, we booked for 18:15 (for a 19:30 show) and had main course and dessert and were out in an hour
I did not go because I received a 'phone call from Pier Eight to say that they were no longer open at lunchtime on days when there was no show at the Lowry. I was disappointed as I think Pier Eight is a good restaurant but they should not be accepting bookings over the web when they are not open. They need to attend to this.
It was typical pre theatre dinner, pre-made courses, decent enough but nothing to get too excited about. The set menu is well priced but the regular menu is a bit on the poor value side in my opinion.
The starters - wonderful; small but very tasty, bordering on fine dining quality. Main meal - very disappointing, not at all of the quality of the starters. The Cabernet Sauvignon by the glass - awful, I nearly sent it back but complaining would have spoilt the evening. The Shiraz was only slightly better. So, a very mixed experience. But it’s a nice setting, better than most of the other restaurants in the vicinity and a very convenient place to eat before a show.
My wife is a vegetarian but she does eat fish and the menu was very limited for her
We were disappointed with the food enjoyed it much better on previous visit
Love that you can have dessert and coffee during the interval back at your table so you don’t feel rushed.
We decided against eating there since the staff were not particularly welcoming, there was a limited choice menu and what there was was exorbitant in price.
Meal was enjoyable, however the menu was limited. The cheese and biscuits was excellent
Great food and service. I was hoping for a side order of chunky chips but they had all gone before 18.45. Disappointing but more than made up for by the rest of the food.
Perfect for pre-theatre "posh" dinner. Food presented beautifully although the menu not very extensive. Could do with some hors d'oeuvres (olives, bread or something else). Food was served very quickly even though the restaurant was very busy. A little too open planned, felt like it was an extension to the bar area, but not able to order food that was on the bar menu. If they want to make it and exclusive area, need to make it feel more cosy.
However, still a lovely restaurant.
We had a lovely lunch on saturday June 16th.
We asked for a table near to the window and we only had to wait a few minutes for the table to be set up.
The lunch menu choice was varied and the wine selection good.
We both chose the cod dish and it was delicious.
The service throughout was very good and the waiting staff were professional and attentive without being 'over the top'.
Overall we enjoyed our visit to this restaurant and would definitely return if we were in Manchester again.
Excellent food though slightly pricer than we would have wished but we did thoroughly enjoy the meal and the view is superb. Early start before afternoon performance meant it was possible to have a very relaxed meal.
A non-event. We arrived at midday as booked and confirmed on line, only to be informed that the restaurant was not open! No explanation, no apology - and amazingly no attempt by the restaurant to make contact with me later. We lunched nearby, prior to a matinee at he Lowry.
We had a Fabulous pre-theatre meal! A special birthday meal for my sister, it was wonderful and the service was outstanding :-D Thank you Pier Eight!
We chose the pre-theatre menu - two courses - both were excellent and staff friendly and helpful
The restaurant was very quiet though and lacked atmosphere - only one other table occupied
Very comfortable chairs and pleasant surroundings - great views
A WONDERFUL SETTING, GREAT FOOD AND FRIENDLY SERVICE. A MAGICAL PRE-THEATRE EXPERIENCE
Very pleasant evening with good food and service. The only thing that was negative was a lady on the next occupied table using her phone and thinking we all needed to hear her conversation!
