This is my second trip to Pig & Khao. I love this place. Small, a little warm at the chef's counter, and noisy in a good way. The food is delicious and I always overeat, I just don't want to stop. Other "Asian Fusion" type of food doesn't hold a candle to the inventiveness of the chef. The infusion of Fillipino into Thai and other Asian gives the food a kind of familiarity and yet it's very unique. I could probably be satisfied just with the Coconut Rice and peanuts, LOL! But we went tasting menu this time, well worth it. A steal for NYC. This is a go-to place for me in NYC! Long-live P&K!
Food was great but don't make reservations after 9pm, they will turn on the lights, blast the music, and do everything in their power to kick you out if you go past 10pm. Quite rude, we had to chug our drink and leave.
The food and cocktails were all delicious--especially the tamarind cocktail, the papaya salad, coconut rice, pork belly, and lemongrass steak. The people were super friendly and helpful. One of our favorite places on the Lower East Side. Thanks!
They tried to sit us in the corner near the bathroom. Which would’ve prevented some of us from sitting comfortably. It was also uncomfortably warm/hot inside. We didn’t even keep our reservation. Probably never doing back again. And certainly wouldn’t suggest this place to anyone.
Great atmosphere and amazing food. Went here once before for dinner and this time's visit was for brunch. Definitely coming back! Music selection was 👌 spot on
I grew up in the Philippines and was so excited to try this place out. A lot of my friends have raved about this place and it was finally my turn to try it. I was really impressed with the staff and how efficient they were in terms of making sure everyone was enjoying their time. I paid close attention to how they moved around the very small area since my friend was unfashionably late and I needed a distraction. Sadly, that was one of the two positive experiences that stayed with me.
My friend and I ordered a pork belly and spicy noodle dish and that pork was cooked to perfection. Everything else was just okay in terms of flavor. I still think about that pork belly from time to time, and it always puts a smile on my face.
The seating arrangement was disorienting. I know New York is starved of real estate but this place really crammed two-tops next to each other in a way where it feels like they're more interested in generating business than creating a nice experience for the diners. It's impossible to have a conversation when you can hear the next table's conversation as well. If I needed to leave my table, my friend and I literally had to move our table for a few inches so I can get out of my seat. I'm a very slim person but I felt like I had to flex my barely there athleticism so I don't knock out anything on mine and the next guest's table. It was almost impossible to get in and out of my seat without worrying if I knock down a plate or hit a person's face.
I probably wouldn't come back here for a sit down dinner but I would order food to-go so I can eat it at the comfort of my own tiny apartment.
The food was exceptional and great service
I really enjoyed the service. It was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious.
Server was not attentive, very slow service.
Food was excellent.
Food and drinks were A1. One of my favorite brunch places
Amazing food. Had the tasting menu. Everything was delicious. Portions were big. Place is just perfect. Great vibe. Great food. Great service. Loved it.
I don't get to eat this type of food very often. I thought it was delicious, well...though the menu was a bit meat heavy in my opinion. Would have loved to see more noodle options in the future. We ordered 5 small plates including the curry noodles and the pork belly adobo. And loved the coconut rice with the steamed vegetables. The sisig was a bit salty, in my opinion. Loved all the dishes except that.
Restaurant can use a bit more ventilation. Our clothes smelled like the grill when we got home. But the price one pays for good food. Will come here again!
Delicious pork dishes and dessert. A must try
Food was dry, octopus and dorade were both over cooked. Servers never bothered to ask me if there was anything wrong. Just a truly disappointing meal.
I have to say I was somewhat disappointed with the food portions. I remembered dining here a few years ago and loved it. Also, the place does not have a bar. There is only one toilet. The brunch was not as good as it used to be. Service is okay.
Tables are a bit close together, but not a huge problem. The modern spin on Filipino and other SE Asian cuisines makes up for it.
Most of what we ordered was extremely greasy - really disappointed.
The noodle soup (curry / khao?) was very good though.
Was not allowed to change table when most seats empty (but person who brought
us to table refused to ask anyone if it would be an issue) - sat next to someone who moved
his seat and forced the table up against ours, so we ended up having to deal with their very loud flirty behavior for our dinner - not good.
We chose this place in part because my son attends the culinary institute of America. The food was pretty good but the service was really bad. The prices were not commensurate with the service. They messed up our order. They forgot to input the vegetables that we ordered. So, we had to wait like 15 minutes while our entree sat in the table getting cold. No apologizes, no offer to make things better. Then they brought the check without asking if we wanted desert...which we did. When you spend $200 for dinner you expect at least the level of service you would get at Olive Garden.
Great in every respect!
Service was great, food was amazing (hard pass on the chicharron next time though). Overall very good first time experience.
Food was so unique and delicious - all of the dishes were just incredible. Service was fast but not rushed. Nice space and an overall fun dining experience.
Always a great experience.
Great unexpected food. We have 4 dishes to share and that was enough for two, especielly with the botomless beer, that was perfectlly chilled.
Our waitress took 15 minutes to come over to the table with water. We were sat in the back corner and ignored for the time we were there/ We participated in the bottomless brunch yet were cut off 30 minutes early- with no warning- after only have 2 pitchers of mimosas between 4 people. If I'm paying for a bottomless brunch, I expect to have a full mimosa majority of the time there. That certainly did not happen. The waitress was rude and literally threw food on the table. One friend's dish came out 20 minutes 20 MINUTES before everyone else's with no explanation from the waitress. The food was tasty but overall not worth the price/rest of the experience we had. At one point, I had to get up and ask the bus boy for water refills. The appetizers we ordered never came either. Overall, I won't be going back and I would not recommend coming too this restaurant. The service ruined our experience.
Great place.....love the food BUT one BIG flaw!
....Why is it that they always suggest way more food than we can eat?
The waitress suggested (for 3 people) 5 appetizer dishes and 3 main dishes.
We orderd 3 appetizers and 2 main dished and didn't even touch the 2nd main course....way too much food.
It was a little obvious that our waitress was are concerned with selling more!
This is a turn off.........you would think that a restaurant like this would be smater than that.
I've been there about 5 times and same story....I don't think I will be going back.
Amazing food! Had fun!
The food here was absolutely delicious. We had the bottomless brunch option (not bad for $15) but they ran out of the lychee mimosas by 230pm on a Sunday. I was pretty excited about it because I had heard good things, but I would definitely go back again.
P.S. get a side of the garlic rice. You will not regret it!
I thought they would make me feel special on my birthday. NOPE. Not even a happy birthday. The food was not very memorable at all. It was so loud I could not hear myself think. I ordered to Rum and Rhymes (alcoholic drinks) and all I could taste was the Rhyme. I wasn't happy at all but I just had to have Mimosas on my birthday. I wont go back again.
This was my first time here for breakfast, and i had a great time. The food was amazing. It was more of a lunch time meal more than breakfast, but it was soo good. The drinks were good, and we had a great waiter named emery? (Probably spelled that wrong.) He was really nice, and checked on our table all the time. Great experience!
My daughter just turned 18 so we came to NYC to celebrate! Great food and staff! I would highly recommend 👍
Best flavors in NYC hands down - fast becoming my absolute favorite
The food here is so delicious! Make room for dessert
Tasting menu was not a traditional tasting menu. The servers threw plates of food on the table with little to no explanation of what were were eating. Food was okay, but very meat heavy - there was not one dish on the tasting menu that didn’t have meat on it. Additionally, we were seated on the patio where the busboy repeatedly added and took away a chair from our table as more or less chairs were needed inside. Very disappointing dinner based on other reviews.
We had the chef tasting menu and it was outstanding! Food was great. Service was great!
Food was great, however the service was pretty horrendous. Our reservation was for 3:15 pm. The waiter didn't bother to tell us too much about the food and portions. My husband ordered a sausage dish, it was great, but only 6 small pieces , not enough for a full lunch for a grown up man. When he tried to order more food he was informed the kitchen stops taking orders at 3:30pm. so they can close down before dinner. Our reservation was for 3:15pm and waiter didn't bother to show up for another 8 minutes! I guess we were lucky we got food at all...
I went for weekend brunch with a friend. The food was delicious but plates are relatively small. Also not a lot of options for vegetarians. The bottomless mimosa deal was very good - $15 for 2 hours, but the check was sent to us a good 15 ms before the end time and we had to talk to a manager - hence a 3 for service.
Waiter was awful. Very disrespectful. Food was amazing.
Good food. Large portions. Reasonable pricing. Very noisy and tables are tightly packed in so no intimate conversation.
Good food and nice staff and a cozy environment with a big bathroom
