It was ok, we weren’t whelmed - we’ve heard a lot about the place but it was just ok.
I don’t normally write reviews, but Pig and Khao was just that good! Every dish was so flavorful and well balanced. The noodle dish with the anchovies was our favorite. We ordered one, but had to get another one! Service was friendly and quick. They also played awesome hip hop music.
The food here is so damn good
Pig and Khao has amazing food and a buzzing atmosphere. Khao Soi and ribs were truly amazing. The weitress (Ann) though was not as friendly as one would expect. Upon my request she suggested how many courses we should order for two people (i am a big eater but she suggested way more than we needed, 4 small courses or one big and 2,3 small ones). We ended up ordering one big plate and one small(not that small at all) and a side of rice. Since then she was giving us attitude. Not much but just enough to make me feel incomfortable. As an experienced NY restaurant goer, I would say this attitude was not something that should exist and thus lower my experience in otherwise fantastic NY restaurant.
The food was amazing. We tried the tasting menu and were served a few chef specials that weren’t on the menu. Love this place and will definitely be back.
Fantastic food and cocktails. Service great. Space a bit crowded and noisy - not great for conversation.
All the food I had was amazing and full of flavor! I had the octopus that was a little crispier than I liked but overall the dish was light and yummy. I had it with the coconut rice which was sweet and paired better with the Khao Soi because that dish was spicier. It was full of delicious curry flavors and juxtaposition of soft and crunchy textures. It was definitely a party in my mouth! I ended it with the donuts which were so warm with a slightly gooey center and not too sweet. The lemon custard to dip it in was a nice refreshing touch too. I also ordered the daiquiri and it usually isn’t my drink of choice but I don’t like spirit forward drinks and this was recommended and I think I’d go with a wine instead next time. I highly recommend this restaurant for the outstanding food and great service. I can’t wait to go back to try more next time I’m in town!
The food was goodness’s but I ordered the Pork jowl and there was about three small slices of meat on it, really disappointed :(
Amazing food - only thing is staff rushes you and ask you even when you have food in your mouth if you are ready. Otherwise beyond delicious. Let people enjoy and give them time to decide. It’s not a fast food joint (the prices def so t reflect fast food). Zero issue on price but then let me enjoy and at least chew and swallow my food and catch my breath after sitting down and read the menu.
Love Pig & Khao, only comment is I’m never able to finish my plate.
We decided to try Pig and Khao after seeing that it was participating in Restaurant Week. We had planned on partaking in their restaurant week offering. However, it was an all or nothing situation. Because one member of our party is a vegetarian, and the Restaurant Week menu lacked a vegetarian entree, we decided to skip it and ordered from the regular brunch menu..
That turned out to be a good thing. We started out with bottomless mimosas (only $16!!), with the juice options of lychee, white peach, mango and orange. The lychee worked well with the champagne and was our favorite, though the white peach was also quite good. The Vietnamese coffee was perfect, and reminded us of our time in Vietnam.
For our meal we ordered the Banh Xeo, which was a light fried crepe stuffed with shrimp, bacon, and pickled veggies. It was delicious. The Khao Soi struck the right note between the red curry and coconut milk. But, the table favorite was Chile Pan Mee, which contained ramen noodles with fried anchovies, sausage, and a poached egg. We ordered an extra side of tasty garlic fried rice just to soak up every drop of the sauce.
The décor is an eclectic mix, while the music was consistently bumping with hip-hop beats. The service was knowledgeable and attentive.
What a delicious way to start a Sunday. We can’t wait to go back!
Was unaware that that certain items were only served during specific times. I had also ordered multiple items, but part way asked to pack the remaining items to go. When I had gotten home, I realized that 2 items of what I ordered were not packed.
Brunch at Pig & Khao was phenomenal. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly prepared. Would highly recommend to others!
The food was exquisite. I love the pork jowl, It was so full of flavor and cooked very well
Loved it! We went for restaurant week and the value and food was amazing!!!
Went for restaurant week. Four courses was too much but luckily we were able to bring one course home for leftovers. I thought everything was really tasty, just some dishes were way too heavy on the salt. Some items are a little over priced but worth checking out.
Great food and atmosphere. Can’t say there was a dish I didn’t like!
I enjoyed the music, but it was played so loud that I couldn't even hear the person in front of me. The food was okay, but not really worth the trip down to the LES when there are better Filipino/Malaysian places in the city. The Malaysian fried chicken was disappointingly soggy -- I would have rather eaten BonChon or even a piece of Jollibee chicken. At least they're crunchy! The other dishes we had were just decent. I feel also like the staff was *too* attentive. At least 3 different people came over to check to see if I was finished with my meal like 3 different times each. It was extremely distracting and intrusive. If I were finished with my meal, I wouldn't be in the middle of putting food into my mouth.
The music was kind of loud, which also makes the diners kind of loud, but the food was great and we enjoyed it very much.
Waitress was nice, food was pretty good, though they gave us the wrong order
. Music was deafening and horrific. Wildly misogynistic rap about assaulting women’s bodies drowned out any possible conversation. It was also cold.
Food was good but we were rushed out with the bill before our entree arrived
Great vibe and incredible food!
it's a great restaurant with good service
I had brunch at this place. I was surprised that it was not better, as I've eaten dinner here before, and thought it was quite good. Something about the brunch meals...flavorless. Could have done better at home.
I have been coming to pig and Khao for a long time and while this experience was good, the food wasn’t as consistent as it has been in the past. The pork cheek and Brussel sprouts which are usually my favorite was a bit of let down as was the ka prow beef which seemed like greasy burger meat. That said, the papaya salad and baby octopus dishes were excellent so not bad overall, but a few misses that I haven’t experienced in the past.
Always a good time.
$16 bottomless mimosas of different flavors, great!
Great food. Quick efficient service. Food excellent. Recommend to everyone.
The food is always amazing and service is great . The duck and octopus were soooo good! I love this spot!
Our favourite place to eat on LES! The food, people, atmosphere and experience. Just gets better every time!
The food is top-notch, although you really need to eat/like pork to enjoy it. The space is definitely cramped but that's part of the charm. Staff was friendly and helpful. No draft beers on tap, but pretty good selection of bottled. Highly recommended.
The food was unique and delicious. I enjoyed the tasting menu because we got to try so many different items. The food runner didn't tell us what he was giving us which was a shame because it was not self explanatory.
This is not our first time at Pig and Khao. We actually used to love the restaurant and enjoy the food. However on our recent visit, we found the waitress to be abrupt. She brought the check before we even asked for it. Then wouldn’t serve us mimosas even though we paid for a 2-hour mimosa brunch. She was trying to rush us out in an hour from when we sat down.
I read about this restaurant two years ago and promised myself I would go there one day when we were In nyc . Met every expectation I had. The spice smells surround you when you walk in the door. Sweet and spicy balance themselves out with each bite. Dinner felt like a family feast with all the sharing. Great service, friendly staff. Can’t wait to come back
Nice meal and atmosphere.
Food was excellent!
Everything on the menu is delicious and perfect size to order many plates and share BUT make sure to order coconut rice no matter what you are getting!
Vintage rap was a bit loud, but then, we are old! Service was great - low key and attentive. Food was innovative, fresh, and delicious!
Place is awesome. Was disappointed with some of the dishes. Green papaya & pork belly were awesome. The brown butter prawns and fried chicken were nothing of note. Yummy if you know what to order otherwise may be left a little let down.
