Pizza East - Portobello
Just like our big brother in Shoreditch, while we take our pizza seriously the setting is very relaxed. We’ve stripped the building’s interior back and created a light and airy space with wooden floors and huge windows, then filled it with beautiful vintage cafe furniture. The in-house wood-fired ovens and open ground floor kitchen mean there are great views to be had inside, especially from the antique stools at the counter, or you can sit outside and watch the world go by.
Our upstairs dining room is an even more laid-back sitting room, as is our terrace, a little green haven away from the hustle of town, where you can have drinks or dinner.
Friday - Saturday: 8am - 12pm
Sunday: 8am - 10:30pm
It was great
Went with the kids. For some reason it was soooo loud. I found the noise irritating.
I have been coming here for years and I think they have lost their touch. It’s simple food at excessive prices without generous portions. It’s crazy and chaotic which used to be charming but it’s now a kids haven and the food isn’t up to scratch for the prices.
Staff are lovely but they are not always present. Overall, I think it’s had its day.
We enjoyed good pizza and a view drinks in nice atmosphere. Friendly service.
Great pizza and ambiance. A bit overpriced in my opinion, but still great!
We spent more than 130 euros for 2 small pizzas and a very small plate of lasagna for a kid with 4 glasses of wine.
The quality of the food and the atmosphere was good. The staff was very nice.
Good food, but felt like i was on a conveyor belt and as soon as i'd finished, felt like the staff were trying to get me to leave immediately so they could get the table back. Appreciate it's busy but felt very rushed... which was a shame as food was delicious.
Quick service, good food, ideal for family gatherings and couples weekday dates
Nice and cool place, we went to Pizza East Shoreditch the next day, since we enjoyed it so much at your place. Cozy and vibrant at the same time, would very much like to come back.
bad food.. definitely not authentic Italian...soooo disappointing..avoid
It was sunday so the restaurant was full and it took a lot of time to get our food. However, the pizzas were amazing.
Really noisy, and also a bit annoyed that the waiter had to ask us 3 times if we still wanted our starters after the mains had been serves...
I really enjoyed my experience to Pizza East. Great food and a good selection. The atmosphere for a Saturday night was buzzing but getting to my table was a bit tight however the service was excellent.
Not a place for a romantic date. Loads of noisy children but if you can overlook this the pizzas are fantastic.
If you like your pizza piping hot, send it back because it’s never hot.
This place used to be great and we went a lot, but it was terrible the night we went. Food was pretty much inedible, pizza dough raw, toppings rubbery and tasteless. Also they were playing a bizarre playlist of naff 80s hits loudly. We scarpered as quickly as we could! The service was fine but not particularly smiley or personal.
The food is good! especially pizza but the service is very unprofessional and not organized!
Pizza was decent -- although I was quite disappointed by how little veggie was on the aubergine pizza... Will come back again though!
This place is not even a shadow of what it used to be - very sad - food was not great but mostly, service was abysmal
Ages to be sat, drinks chased, water not given having been asked, pizza toppings not correct, sauces not correct, bill not correct, no apology. Poor.
Super friendly service, fabulous atmosphere and casual setting. On the pricey side but reasonable value for the area.
Fantastic as always....we go every year when we’re in London, food always fantastic, would highly recommend it!!!
I've been to the Shoreditch location a bunch of times which has always been great, location wise the Portobello Road one worked out better this time. Service was great, there was a little mix up with the table I was sat at so I had to move after five minutes or so, which was no problem of course but it came with an apology and a free (delicious) drink. Just goes to show how much the staff is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. Food was delicious and came quickly. I paid with a credit card and the system somehow doesn't allow tipping when you pay electronically. I didn't have any cash on me and felt bad not being able to tip! So bring some cash to reward the lovely staff if you go here :) and get the truffle pecorino croquettes. Cocktails were lovely as well. I dined alone which can be a little awkward sometimes but it was no issue here.
Staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The food was very good and the atmosphere was fun.
Attentive and friendly service and excellent starters and pizza as always. Great atmosphere and good choice of reasonably priced cocktails and wines.
Nice location on Portobello street, with outdoor seating facing street and the square. Staff was very friendly, and efficient. Food was very tasty and made with quality ingredients. Price was very reasonable. Overall a very nice dining experience.
Fabulous meal in a beautiful and lively setting.
Service was personal and warm.
Families, models and tourists all enjoying a great experience.
Good amazing food as always. Still just serves wine in tumblers which is a shame as it really does taste nicer in wine glasses.
On this occasion our waiter wasn’t very attentive and we had to call him over for ordering etc. Else place is a good spot and they know how to make pizzas.
Tiny portion of fish, a one leaf of chard and a smear of parsnip puree for £15. I think you're ok if you stick with the pizza.
Good place for casual Sunday's brunch.
Good food, good service & as usual very kids frindly
Overall very good,my sons pizza was a bit to burned
Great food and amazing Pizza with quality ingredients!
Roast dinner at Pizza East was terrible - dry and cold. Basically just really badly reheated food.
Lovely spot for a friends' get together. Would return when next in the area!
as always, we had a lovely time. on this occasion, I introduced a couple of friends to PE and they loved it just as I do.
Came on saturday night for an early fathers day with my dad! We had such a wonderful time, atmosphere was lively, service was great and we loved our waiter, food even tastier we both left stuffed.
Will be back very soon for sure!!
No problem with the food or service. I've eaten there often before, but usually at lunch or brunch. Never before in the evening and I won't do so again as the noise level was terrible. Whether the room (upstairs) has a bad accoustic, or the restaurant just attracts noisy people I couldn't say. But we had to shout over the table at each other to have some sort of conversation and we left early to have a coffee down the road.
Amazing food. Didn’t order any pizza. The sides and mains were adventurous, full of flavour and packed with unique pairings; ie dog, toasted pine nuts and Burrata.
It's such a shame that the service experience does not live up to the food quality. Service is what makes the experience so memorable that you talk about it. There are a million good pizza places in London. An example of an eatery that is so intent of being cool that they forget that great service is the coolest thing they can give. Smile in greeting. When you are saying no, do it with some charm, when the kids food is late to the table, be apologetic, look up and around you all the time to see who is trying to catch your attention. Have your cosy staff chat another time. Remember to apologise when you get something wrong. Smile.
We go to this restaurant regularly, service is exceptional, staff are always friendly, warm and welcoming, good food reasonably priced, can get a bit loud in there depending on which time you go and which table you’re seated at.
Perfect as always. Great service, great food and great with allergies!
