Great atmosphere great food. Lovely place for a nice meal
Service needs to be better and more polished
Had to call someone every time for attention
a bit sloppy
Ate the Beef Wellington which was very good
Excellent service! Great food and ambiance for a meeting or a quite meal & catch-up!
Disappointment is the way I would describe this evening.
Our expectations were very high after the amazing Valentine's experience we had last year. Food portions seemed on the small side. Presentation was lacking. A sharing Valentine's dessert we expected a bit more than a few shortbreads and sponges chucked on a plate for a dessert.
The management expertise has changed too. Sad to say after all these years we will not be visiting again.
Always fancied a visit just a shame I didn’t go sooner. Fabulous place, I’ll definitely be going back!!
Waitress not really interested. Poorly dressed with scruffy jeans. Did not give us the impression they they enjoyed their job. Poor experience.
My American guest had the mackerel starter. It was an embarrassment. Pieces of smoked mackerel on a small mound of salad. A 5 year old could have prepared it. Maybe I missed something. The main courses were better but overpriced. I won’t be going back.
It was ok. The waiter spilled water all over our table and we had to ask her to clean it up and bring us new napkins. The beef wellington was great.
Hidden gem situated between Kings Cross and St Pancras station.
The upper lounge and main restaurant have a lovely ambiance. Shame it suffers from the same problem as other hotel restaurants being over-priced. Worth a visit if you are on a company expense account.
Food excellent but cold. Service excellent. Ambience good.
My boyfriend booked this as part of a Christmas gift to me and I’m afraid to say it was a very disappointing experience. The table we were initially sat at was a very awkward shape for 2 people to eat at, and we asked to move to a different table. After ordering a pre-dinner cocktail each and wine for the meal, we were told that ingredients for one of the cocktails was not available so another had to be chosen. The wine then appeared before the starter or either of the cocktails. We finished both our starters (my broccoli soup was very tasty) before the cocktails even arrived. After the starter plates were cleared, I explained that I had dropped the remaining piece of bread on the floor, which was greeted with a nod and it being left on the table (no offer of more bread). Mains were perfectly serviceable, without being noteworthy. We eschewed dessert, ordered the bill and then waited to pay. After 15 minutes and waving down a server, we finally paid a bill of £120+. For a restaurant that was barely a third full at 7pm on a Saturday night, this was a very disappointing evening
The vegetarian breakfast is poor, it feels more like its the meat one with just the meat taken off, no potato, no veggie sausage or anything and why does vegetarian mean spicy beans?
It just looks like half a plate that you couldn't be bothered with
Great food. Disappointing service.
It was a very special birthday, staff were great. The only thing that could be better was the noise levels. It was difficult to hear each other!
Lovely place to meet, enjoy some great food and cocktails.
The restaurant is beautiful, comfortable with a great buzz and atmosphere.
Food is a little more traditional than some of the other restaurants locally.
The whole area around Kings Cross is such a great area to visit.
I’ve rarely been more dissapointed. What has happened to our once favourite restaurant? The service was shocking, staff on their mobile phones, at no point throughout the meal were we ever asked how our food was, no one pours your wine (I don’t really care but they always used to). Crab starter was dry and the 10oz rib eye was minuscule.
I complained about my steak, nothing was done about it. I asked if Mark Sargeant was still involved with the plumb and spilt milk but the waitress just said “who”
We have eaten here a lot, usually opting for the beef wellington. I will never go back. I was genuinely shocked at how poor this once leading restaurant was. It said a lot that it was half empty on a Friday night. Never again
The most delicious gnocchi I have ever had, and believe me, I‘ve had a few!
Impeccable service, friendly and efficient. We were so much in a hurry and the waitress was so cool about it. Really something else!
AMAZING, strongly recommend
Nice service, nice cocktail s and amazing dessert
Plum + Spilt Milk is a lovely restaurant carved out of the old Great Northern Hotel at King’s Cross station in London. The environment is chic, with large, comfortable seats and a high quality decor, but it still feels modern, light and contemporary.
The food was great and the service polite and efficient; perfect for a business meal or special treat!
Very good restaurant for business dinners in a sophisticated environment. Good choice.
Good friendly and attentive service.
Two course lunch menu basically ok, gnocchi pretty good however puddings poor, overly ambitious, if you want to go clever you need to do it well. they would have been better off sticking to something a lot more simple.
with 4 glasses of very average wine came to £109 so value not great.
Service was slow and I had to repeat my order on multiple occasions.
I asked for poached eggs on toast and the poached eggs were incredible small and very watery (verging on not cooked). I know this is a basic dish but there was no garnish or anything in addition to the plate just 2 dry pieces of toast with 2 poached eggs unceremoniously 'plonked' on the plate.
Much below my expectation level for the restaurant, I won't be returning with my clients for further meetings.
The food was fantastic. We had rabbit ravioli, hot smoked salmon and apple salad, venison, gnocchi and then plum and spilt milk dessert. It was all delicious.
The only negative was that there were very few other diners when we went (it was a Sunday night), which made it very quiet and lacking atmosphere.
This was so wonderful! Was not at all what I expected! The food was delicious! The place was beautiful and spacious. Was not even that expensive! So worth a try for brunch!
perfect for Saturday morning brunch with friends and family
Having walked past this part of Kings Cross so many times, I was pleasantly surprised when I went there for brunch this morning. The space is beautiful. The food was lovely, if a little pricey for the portion size. I mentioned it was my mums birthday when booking and they brought out a signed card from the staff and some chocolate ganache on a plate with a birthday message. It was a really nice touch and made her feel very special. Overall, a nice experience.
I have already recommended to my friends as I had such a lovely meal and the staff were so friendly and attentive, it seemed wrong not to!!
Definitely coming back again - soon x
Had not eaten here before, but aside from the decor, it was a big disappointment. Drink service was very slow, took longer than the appetizers. These were clearly pre pared and then heated up. Not very tasty either. On the mains the cod was watery and the venison was minuscule. At no point did anyone ask us about our food or experience. Would not go back.
Great restaurant, really nice décor in the restaurant and surrounding areas, comfortable seating, excellent service, our guests thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Only OK for us. The service was a bit slap dash and the food, whilst competent, was not very exciting.
Slight allergic reaction to the cod, but otherwise a great experience!
Uninspiring food. Decor and ambiance good. Why do you need 50 characters?
Just love the ambience of this place.
Lovely atmosphere though a bit noisy when full. Food was excellent as was wine selection. Friendly & good service. Was not rushed out! I’d go again!
Unfortunately service was very slow, we waited a long time for a drink order when we were seated. The food was excellent, however service really let it down. The staff were stood around talking to themselves and we had to wave to get any sort of attention for ordering food, ordering drinks and the bill. We ordered a glass of wine to be brought during the main and had to ask twice for it, to which it finally arrived when the main was nearly finished.
Amazing service good quality wine and great food. Really pleasant atmosphere would definitely recommend it to someone who wants to go somewhere special
Very lovely roast. Delicious. We ate at 2.30pm. I wouldn't have wanted breakfast at that time, quite strange having just two roasts (beef and pork) our daughter only eats chicken so had a veg breakfast, although did say it was lovely. For a winter menu, I think a few more seasonal options would have bee good.
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch. Gravy plentiful. Excellent service
Fair price for a high end restaurant in this location. Service was good. My sunday roast (porc belly) probably was the best i’ve had in a long time!
Everything was great except the food. We ordered the gnocchi and it had a pretty bad texture
