I had better memories of the food, I have to say I would have expected a way higher performance from the kitchen given we were one of two tables that night. Service was lovely and drinks from the bar downstairs were also very good
We had a nice lunch at Plum and Split Milk. The three of us respectively ordered the bacon burger, the mac the portion should have been double the size! Overall, it was a nice environment, the service was fine, but we just felt it was overpriced for what it was. I wouldn't return.
Visited for dinner for my partners birthday. Staff are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Food fantastic. Lovely decor & ambience
Great value for money highly recommend! Nice decor and good service
Great food, great service, lovely atmosphere
Staff were so polite and friendly. Really able to relax and enjoy our time there. Food was lovely and well presented.
Food was pretty awful and service was not much better. The staff were all over the place and came out with the wrong order twice...
A very chaotic atmosphere. Very disappointing, avoid.
Lovely ambience and beautiful food. The staff were friendly and helpful and as we were staying at the hotel, the 20% discount voucher made the meal even better value!
Very good menu. Quality of food and presentation extremely good. Well managed service in spite of the current restrictions.
Lovely restaurant and good food, very quiet which is a shame
I have been to this restaurant before and continue to enjoy the food and atmosphere
It was really good to see the staff in PPE making everyone feel safe during this Covid crisis.
I went with my family and we were all very well looked after and the food was the expected high quality.
Meat severely undercooked for medium rare and tough.
Lovely waitress and the signature plum + spilt milk pudding is very special :)
Our initial reception was with someone clearly in the wrong job but after that the service was excellent. Food was good but small portions. No ambience as sadly it was deserted due to Covid.
Food was very nice, service was excellent. Very nice place to go. Atmosphere was very relaxed and nice
Fantastic food and wine good service but unfortunately it was quite empty and ambience wasn’t as good as usual. No fault of Plum & spilt milk just the impact of COVID-19 would definitely recommend to friends
The food is very nice although more basic than you would expect for the money
Had a wonderful 18th birthday event for our daughter. It was a late afternoon event so the restaurant was rather quiet. Lovely food and happy staff. Thank you.
We had breakfast here on Sunday. It was a wonderfully relaxing place and the food was superb.
When you first enter the hotel it has a great atmosphere. Sadly the restaurant was completely empty , not sure why on a saturday night? While some of us enjoyed our main courses I couldn't help but feel it was not worth the high prices. The ruhbarb crumble was very disappointing as was the accompanying oat milk custards, a tiny portion and cold.
The staff were very friendly indeed though.
Also as its in a hotel there is a very mixed audience,. Some dining in track suit bottoms straight from their hotel rooms. So its not so chic as the decor suggests and pics on the website suggests in my opinion.
Food was delicious. Most of it was gluten free so plenty of choice. They even had desserts! Great service too. Definitely coming back!!!!
A London based friend recommended this restaurant to me, hailing it as the best Full English breakfast in town. He wasn’t wrong. Delicious.
The meal was excellent and we liked everything, the food , service and ambience. We would definitely go again
I have been here before , and will go back again , the food and my wine choice were excellent but alas, this time the service was not as good as it could have been.
After having the bill delivered, and after waiting for quite some time, I had to go the service point to pay for our meal.
This is a pleasant restaurant in the Great Northern Hotel. Waiters were very helpful and attentive. However, the food was disappointing - my starter of smoked mackerel strongly resembled the pre-packaged type found in supermarkets. A main course of gnocchi was acceptable but uninspiring but the deserts, Plum + Spilt Milk, was excellent.
What a great place to meet friends who are travelling to Scotland.
Have had a few meals unexpected meals here .
One question, why is there only one bar open? The last time there we had to stand.
Lovely but I would ask to be away from the speakers as it was loud. Good nice bit not great. Staff lovely and helpful.
Great food and service, lovely setting lost of space. Catered well with special dietary needs. Highly recomended
Lovely team, excellent service and a thoughtful birthday surprise.
We’ve visited 5/6 times now and every time it’s been outstanding! Highly recommend
Disappointing to have to ask for the lunch menu. “Sorry I’m always forgetting to give that”. Good location and nice layout for a confidential discussion. Food well presented albeit lacking seasoning.
Celebrating birthday with an excellent meal fantastic service and delicious champagne. Sumptuous decor and pleasant surroundings Would definitely recommend to others and return ourselves.
Such a wonderful experience - from the staff to the food to the ambiance - literally perfect! We were with important clients of ours for lunch and they also loved it :D
Excellent, although many empty tables. Good for us: not so good for you!
Went for Sunday brunch with a friend and we both ended up having roast beef - the beef was yummy and came with a huge Yorkshire pudding and really beautifully cooked vegetables. We were too full to have desert so opted for truffles and coffee.
A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Beautiful restaurant. Nice food and lovely dining experience but the portions are quite small and expensive
This place is perfect to catch up with friends over a Saturday morning brunch
The decor especially the lighting is beautiful, all the staff had a smile on their face, the menu was varied in it’s options for brunch and the food was great. Really great location as well. It wasn’t too busy but busy enough that it had a great buzz. Delicious Bloody Mary too.
Great atmosphere great food. Lovely place for a nice meal
Service needs to be better and more polished
Had to call someone every time for attention
a bit sloppy
Ate the Beef Wellington which was very good
