Plum + Spilt Milk
The perfect place to meet, eat, work or relax in the heart of London's King's Cross St Pancras
A menu based on seasonal British ingredients cooked simply yet creatively, with new dishes including Mey Selections' beef croquettes with horseradish mayonnaise; pan-fried fillet of pollock with smoked bacon, peas and baby gem and creamed beetroot spelt, beetroot crisps and goat's curd.
Plum + Spilt Milk keeps service turning from dawn through to midnight. Floor-to-ceiling windows and hand-blown glass light bulbs warm a restaurant and dining room in a class all of its own.
Had a wonderful 18th birthday event for our daughter. It was a late afternoon event so the restaurant was rather quiet. Lovely food and happy staff. Thank you.
We had breakfast here on Sunday. It was a wonderfully relaxing place and the food was superb.
When you first enter the hotel it has a great atmosphere. Sadly the restaurant was completely empty , not sure why on a saturday night? While some of us enjoyed our main courses I couldn't help but feel it was not worth the high prices. The ruhbarb crumble was very disappointing as was the accompanying oat milk custards, a tiny portion and cold.
The staff were very friendly indeed though.
Also as its in a hotel there is a very mixed audience,. Some dining in track suit bottoms straight from their hotel rooms. So its not so chic as the decor suggests and pics on the website suggests in my opinion.
Food was delicious. Most of it was gluten free so plenty of choice. They even had desserts! Great service too. Definitely coming back!!!!
A London based friend recommended this restaurant to me, hailing it as the best Full English breakfast in town. He wasn’t wrong. Delicious.
The meal was excellent and we liked everything, the food , service and ambience. We would definitely go again
I have been here before , and will go back again , the food and my wine choice were excellent but alas, this time the service was not as good as it could have been.
After having the bill delivered, and after waiting for quite some time, I had to go the service point to pay for our meal.
This is a pleasant restaurant in the Great Northern Hotel. Waiters were very helpful and attentive. However, the food was disappointing - my starter of smoked mackerel strongly resembled the pre-packaged type found in supermarkets. A main course of gnocchi was acceptable but uninspiring but the deserts, Plum + Spilt Milk, was excellent.
What a great place to meet friends who are travelling to Scotland.
Have had a few meals unexpected meals here .
One question, why is there only one bar open? The last time there we had to stand.
Lovely but I would ask to be away from the speakers as it was loud. Good nice bit not great. Staff lovely and helpful.
Great food and service, lovely setting lost of space. Catered well with special dietary needs. Highly recomended
Lovely team, excellent service and a thoughtful birthday surprise.
We’ve visited 5/6 times now and every time it’s been outstanding! Highly recommend
Disappointing to have to ask for the lunch menu. “Sorry I’m always forgetting to give that”. Good location and nice layout for a confidential discussion. Food well presented albeit lacking seasoning.
Celebrating birthday with an excellent meal fantastic service and delicious champagne. Sumptuous decor and pleasant surroundings Would definitely recommend to others and return ourselves.
Such a wonderful experience - from the staff to the food to the ambiance - literally perfect! We were with important clients of ours for lunch and they also loved it :D
Excellent, although many empty tables. Good for us: not so good for you!
Went for Sunday brunch with a friend and we both ended up having roast beef - the beef was yummy and came with a huge Yorkshire pudding and really beautifully cooked vegetables. We were too full to have desert so opted for truffles and coffee.
A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Beautiful restaurant. Nice food and lovely dining experience but the portions are quite small and expensive
This place is perfect to catch up with friends over a Saturday morning brunch
The decor especially the lighting is beautiful, all the staff had a smile on their face, the menu was varied in it’s options for brunch and the food was great. Really great location as well. It wasn’t too busy but busy enough that it had a great buzz. Delicious Bloody Mary too.
Great atmosphere great food. Lovely place for a nice meal
Service needs to be better and more polished
Had to call someone every time for attention
a bit sloppy
Ate the Beef Wellington which was very good
Excellent service! Great food and ambiance for a meeting or a quite meal & catch-up!
Disappointment is the way I would describe this evening.
Our expectations were very high after the amazing Valentine's experience we had last year. Food portions seemed on the small side. Presentation was lacking. A sharing Valentine's dessert we expected a bit more than a few shortbreads and sponges chucked on a plate for a dessert.
The management expertise has changed too. Sad to say after all these years we will not be visiting again.
Always fancied a visit just a shame I didn’t go sooner. Fabulous place, I’ll definitely be going back!!
Waitress not really interested. Poorly dressed with scruffy jeans. Did not give us the impression they they enjoyed their job. Poor experience.
My American guest had the mackerel starter. It was an embarrassment. Pieces of smoked mackerel on a small mound of salad. A 5 year old could have prepared it. Maybe I missed something. The main courses were better but overpriced. I won’t be going back.
It was ok. The waiter spilled water all over our table and we had to ask her to clean it up and bring us new napkins. The beef wellington was great.
Hidden gem situated between Kings Cross and St Pancras station.
The upper lounge and main restaurant have a lovely ambiance. Shame it suffers from the same problem as other hotel restaurants being over-priced. Worth a visit if you are on a company expense account.
Food excellent but cold. Service excellent. Ambience good.
My boyfriend booked this as part of a Christmas gift to me and I’m afraid to say it was a very disappointing experience. The table we were initially sat at was a very awkward shape for 2 people to eat at, and we asked to move to a different table. After ordering a pre-dinner cocktail each and wine for the meal, we were told that ingredients for one of the cocktails was not available so another had to be chosen. The wine then appeared before the starter or either of the cocktails. We finished both our starters (my broccoli soup was very tasty) before the cocktails even arrived. After the starter plates were cleared, I explained that I had dropped the remaining piece of bread on the floor, which was greeted with a nod and it being left on the table (no offer of more bread). Mains were perfectly serviceable, without being noteworthy. We eschewed dessert, ordered the bill and then waited to pay. After 15 minutes and waving down a server, we finally paid a bill of £120+. For a restaurant that was barely a third full at 7pm on a Saturday night, this was a very disappointing evening
The vegetarian breakfast is poor, it feels more like its the meat one with just the meat taken off, no potato, no veggie sausage or anything and why does vegetarian mean spicy beans?
It just looks like half a plate that you couldn't be bothered with
Great food. Disappointing service.
It was a very special birthday, staff were great. The only thing that could be better was the noise levels. It was difficult to hear each other!
Lovely place to meet, enjoy some great food and cocktails.
The restaurant is beautiful, comfortable with a great buzz and atmosphere.
Food is a little more traditional than some of the other restaurants locally.
The whole area around Kings Cross is such a great area to visit.
I’ve rarely been more dissapointed. What has happened to our once favourite restaurant? The service was shocking, staff on their mobile phones, at no point throughout the meal were we ever asked how our food was, no one pours your wine (I don’t really care but they always used to). Crab starter was dry and the 10oz rib eye was minuscule.
I complained about my steak, nothing was done about it. I asked if Mark Sargeant was still involved with the plumb and spilt milk but the waitress just said “who”
We have eaten here a lot, usually opting for the beef wellington. I will never go back. I was genuinely shocked at how poor this once leading restaurant was. It said a lot that it was half empty on a Friday night. Never again
The most delicious gnocchi I have ever had, and believe me, I‘ve had a few!
Impeccable service, friendly and efficient. We were so much in a hurry and the waitress was so cool about it. Really something else!
AMAZING, strongly recommend
Nice service, nice cocktail s and amazing dessert
Plum + Spilt Milk is a lovely restaurant carved out of the old Great Northern Hotel at King’s Cross station in London. The environment is chic, with large, comfortable seats and a high quality decor, but it still feels modern, light and contemporary.
The food was great and the service polite and efficient; perfect for a business meal or special treat!
