Plum Valley
Dim sum were delicious as always
Great food!:)
Starters were poor as was the service. We were in a first floor back room. Left after the starters which came to £200 for 5 with drinks.
Service was ok although the server mixed up a soup as one of the starters which took 15 mins to resolve . Dim sum was good and duck was good. Ordered a beef with garlic, pepper and chicken with dried chilli - you couldn’t eat the dish there was that much chilli on it, it was like a plate of chopped chilli , this wasn’t great.
Overall experience was ok however I expected more. Probably better places in China town to eat.
Amazing food especially the dimsums. So good that we ordered 4 rounds of it. And that’s just the starters! The Singaporean noodles were just to die for but I’m fairly sure anything else on their menu is just as good if not better
Fab restaurant, suitable for cosy dates or business lunches.
Highly recommended - food is amazing!
Friendly staff and tasty options. Great for dim sum and large groups. Our favorite items were the prawn & pork dumplings and seasame pork buns. We loved this restaurant so much we went twice during our trip.
Food and service absolutely perfect but I didn’t appreciate getting rushed out of the restaurant just because I had finished eating. I was presented with the bill, which I had not asked for as I was still drinking my wine. The staff then continued to hover around me until I paid it and then wanted me to leave, while still having wine in my glass. All because they were busy. Poor customer service.
horrible service and overpriced food, will not be spending my money here again.
The place was very chaotic, drinks were forgotten, mains came out before starters. Very poor service and the whole experience was very rushed. The food was average, I found bones in my food and the manager was not bothered. Would not recommend this restaurant and will not be coming again!
Having been to Plum Valley on occasions before where it was incredible, we regrettably had a very poor experience. To their credit they were very busy, but i feel they should be able to adapt to it very easily considering the area they are in. We waited around 10 before i had to ask if i could order drinks, then another wait to order food. We ordered around 8 dishes which came out in drips and drabs 2 which were stone cold, one was wrong, one was somehow half piping and half cold which was a little strange for a noodle dish. 2 didnt even come out and when we asked to cancel it they brought it over 10 minutes later anyway. The last thing to come out was water which was the first thing we asked for. When the bill eventually came they included the 2 cancelled dishes and a service charge which I refused to pay.
In the end it was £100 for a very below average meal that didn’t even sayisfy our hunger.
Its such a shame because i know they can be good, but for the price they charge im not so sure i would want to take that chance again, especially with Golden Dragon across the road which is always so tasty and a fraction of the cost
Food was average, service was poor and the restaurant had the aircon on....when outside was cold.
They brought our main before the starter cause “that’s how they come out at the kitchen” last time for me here.
Fabulous dimsum food for party of 6. High quality food served quickly with typical brusque efficiency for many Chinese restaurants

We had a lovely dining experience, very attentive staff and great food! So many dishes on the menu - I already know what I'll have next time!
Had a very nice DIM SUM lunch with my brother. We ordered our usual array of steamed dumplings and cheung fun. Being a Wednesday lunch time, the restaurant was not overbooked and we were served very promptly and did not feel ushered at all like as one would find in a typical Chinese restaurant right on Gerrard Street. All together nine out of ten for all the food and drink.
The food was incredible. But all the courses came out at the same time. So I was eating duck and noodles at the same time! And everything went cold.
Reservation was cancelled on the day we were supposed to go via email- with no explanation and no curtesy call (despite the booking having been made weeks ago). It's a good job I saw the email before travelling over an hour to get there. Appalling customer service.
Great restaurant fab service nice staff will be back
Visited for the 2nd time now as one of the few places where you can have dim sum all day long.
The food is great - tasty, interesting and variable.
However the service is horrrrrible! We got served by 5-6 different waitresses (not sure why, I guess they don't split tables over there). asked for water like 3 times, asked for a second menu twice, asked to be re-seated many times as the table we were given was next to their service station, very crammed and noisy... were rushed and plates just snatched from under our noses the second we picked up the last piece. It's so rude it's funny! Were rushed the whole time and then just got given the bill without us asking for it (that was only 1h20min after we sat down and the restaurant wasn't even full.)
Basically only go there if you want to shovel the food in and leave, not going to have a nice relaxed meal and get to enjoy conversation as they will just rush you out.
Really don't understand the poor reviews. We had a brilliant night. Arrived 10min late & stayed really late. Had a great laugh with the hostess who helped make the night. Ordered masses of delicious dim sum & left with enough for a nice big breakfast. Had some delicious cocktils for dessert. The Espresso Martinis are wonderful. Will be back very soon.
Dim sum was good, service was below average, lady kept trying to take dishes away. Felt rushed to get out. The set dim sum tea menu was varied and tasty. Normal size portions which made it good value. It was the waitress with the bob hair that ruined the experience.
Went to celebrate a 30th birthday. Awful service (on all occasions we had to ask for the waiter’s attention) and no manners from any of the serving staff. We asked for two birthday cakes to be presented and were handed the cakes back in the packaging and plastic bag we brought them in. Often told to be quiet, despite the fact our party was not being unusually loud for a birthday celebration; there were also other bookings who were chatting loudly. Even after complaining to the manager we weren’t treated with the respect a customer would expect.
Would highly suggest to GO ELSEWHERE for any bookings for more than 2 people.
It’s our go-to restaurant in Chinatown and for pre-theatre dinner.
Excellent service.
Very creative food, lively atmosphere, great service. We really enjoyed our visit.
The food was served cold, we did not say anything as it took ages to come in the first place and then to get the attention of the staff.
9 of us booked at short notice. They had a good size table upstairs. The service was excellent and the food even better. We had the ribs and the set menu D. I can recommend it
Only slight draw back was the toilet did not smell very clean.
Food was delicious and the service was better than some of the reviews I had read before. Only criticism I have, is that the lady bringing the food over did not know what she was bringing which wasn't great for our vegetarian friend!
Plum Valley never lets me down. The food is excellent: tasty, authentic and with a wide range of choices (but not overwhelming). The duck is particularly good, as are the vegetarian options. There are some great and reasonably priced wines. Service is quick and friendly. Price-wise it's a notch above most of the other Chinatown places but value for money and totally worth it.
Food was very nice and good portion, service was ok. Great for pre-theatre as it was also quick.
Service was a bit off today, took forever to get our tea(and it's 3pounds for each order of tea)
Peking duck was pretty good, but a bit pricy considering you don't actually get the whole duck(am sure they leave the legs off) In other places, you see the duck carved in front of you, but here it comes ready sliced and piled up. Served with steamed buns that are halved, along with spring onions and cucumber. Flavours were good, but I think there are better places for Peking duck.
The noodles were a little too oily and more of a chinese take away standard, which is disappointing, considering the price.
The egg tofu in clay pot was good, but they really need to update their menu (there was aubergine in the dish but no mention of it on the menu).
Horrible service - won’t be back.
Very nice food, service a little slow but they were all very nice and accommodating!
We were looking for a dim sum restaurant and were not disappointed. Lucky as they even had dim sum week with a tasting menu. Great choice of dim sum. Quite busy during weekend lunch but service was great.
good food, but not suitable if you are with your boyfriend or dating. They rush you since the beginning and I felt I wasn’t welcome at all. 5 minutes after seating a group of 10 sat next to us so we asked to change table. The waitress didn’t leave me time to choose what to drink and they didn’t give us the dim sum menu, obviously because it’s cheaper.
Service is awful. If you want to have a chat with your friends, don't go there because they always try to clear your table and ask you to pay and leave.
The dim sum was very fresh and good flavours. The Japanese baby octopus was particularly good, good chilli oil and tender seafood. The Fujian fried rice was also very tasty. All washed down with several good bottles of Merlot
We have visited Plum Valley on many occasions before and always had to wait for 10-20 minutes at the reception area even with reservation. This time was no different. Despite the initial waiting, food and service have always been great.
Restaurant was able to provide highchair for a child and ground floor seating which is more comfortable than 1/F.
Under £15 per person.
Lovely food lovely place
Great service and delicious food. Perfect for a get together with friends or casual meal. The food is amazing, great selection and value. My second visit and many more to come. Thank you!
