Absolutely would recommend. Great value for money, had a fabulous time
Every time I am down in London I always try to eat at Pollen Street at least once during my stay.
My only criticism would be that it's rather noisy but then that is to be expected when its o busy.
Service was very rushed. We had the taster menu and the second course was brought out before we had finished the first. After 4 courses of this we asked the waiter if they could slow down, but he was convinced he was bringing them to us at the correct pace. The man on the table next to us didn’t eat his first course for the same reason. The Cocktails were very good.
Outstanding food just disappointed from the off that one our choice of seafood starter to share was no longer available and it was only 8.30pm.
Also our main course was forgotten until we mentioned that we hadn’t received it 1 hour after our starters they suddenly appeared within 1 minute. Wonderful food though and a great sommelier. Would like to go back, maybe for lunch.
I usually have a great experience at Pollen St and the a la carte menu is incredible. However, our experience last week with the lunch menu was poor. Both main courses were not up to standard (dover sole and chicken). The dover sole looks and tastes like sashimi that has had a brief meeting with a pan, and the flavours were underwhelming. Neither of us finished our main courses and I told the waiter I did not want to. We left straight after rather than have dessert. Service was also patchy, with bread served late and more waiting around than usual - for wine, cocktails before, and the bill. The atmosphere on a weekday is quite loud, with mostly business lunches, and design of the restaurant does nothing to limit the noise level, with tables also very close together.
I emailed my comments that afternoon to the restaurant, as no one followed up with me about our main courses. The email I received from head office in return read like a rebuke that I hadn't alerted the manager to my concerns at the time, which made me feel that it was my fault that I had not had a good meal or good value for (a large amount of) money. There was a mention that we would be accommodated if we wanted to return. Thanks for that? My view is that, in a restaurant such as this, a suggestion that a meal has not been up to standard should be followed up by the waiter and they can raise it to the manager. I do not know who the manager is and I am not the kind of person who likes to loudly demand to speak to the manager in a restaurant - and I would have had to have been loud to be heard over the noise. I am disappointed to have to write this review but I feel I have given the restaurant the opportunity to respond privately or offer an apology, and this has not happened. I would recommend this restaurant generally - but definitely not on a weekday lunchtime.
The food was Exceptional and the service the best I've experienced in any Michelin restaurant.
We had the lunchtime 3 course menu with wine - which is excellent value. Despite it being a pared down menu the course options were great and with additional amuse bouche, pre-dessert and petit four which were super tasty and beautifully presented.
The service is exceptional - attentive (when expected), friendly and knowledgable.
By the time we left the restaurant was full so the noise level had increased considerably but this did not detract from the fabulous meal we’d had.
I had a very mixed experience at pollen street. The starter was one of the best I’d ever had -slow cooked egg with crispy chicken skin. But my main dish of Dover sole was one of the worst. The food was lukewarm, the fish was chewy and impossible to cut through and the lemon mash was not a combination I enjoyed. Really disappointing. Thankfully the pudding was delicious and so glad we had coffee so we could sample the amazing petit fours.
The food, the venue and the service was amazing. Not only was what we ordered excellent (the Cote de Boeuf and Mac and cheese 🤤) but all in the in between courses were fab - I’ve never had so many desserts in one sitting. Definitely recommend if you want excellent fine dining in a relaxed setting. I’ll be back!
Pitiful sized portions. Bland food. Bland atmosphere. Biggest dining disappointment of my life.
Outstanding food ,courteous happy staff, clean sharp decor. We ate the 3 course set lunch which was finished off with a surprise very rich chocolate cake for my wife’s birthday compliments of the restaurant. We will definitely recommend and return ourselves.
Absolutely stunning from start to finish, the espresso martini is by far one of best EVER!
We found the service very poor. Tables were too close together. No interaction from the staff.
When in London we never miss to book a lunch at Pollen Street Social and we have never been disappointed, to the contrary in has always been an experience!
GreT food fabulous service in a nice dinning room
Great food and service. However we were a party of 8 booked for a birthday celebration and we were placed on a table in the front of the restaurant, rather than the main dining room. There were only a few tables in this area and it was therefore seriously lacking in atmosphere compared with the main restaurant which was disappointing.
Very poor on our second visit - we were hoping for more following our previous lunch time visit. The service is polite but lacking in the human touch of a conversation about the menu.
The food was “ok”. Noteworthy, the sourdough bread was on another level - I’ve never had such hard bread - fair play, probably the first bread to burn calories.
A great shame.
Perfect venue for a celebration with exquisite food
Great food, great service, excellent value.
Would highly recommend a visit
Food was excellent albeit a small piece of gristle on one chicken piece. Look time between main course and dessert caused by taking dessert choice at the start not after the main course. Otherwise, very good indeed. Lacking a knowledgable sommelier but this wouldn’t be noted most of the time.
Competition at work
Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. Unpretentious unlike other similar standard restaurants. Service was impeccable. Thank you for a great evening.
Sorry. Did not meet my expectations. The venue is beautiful. Great service. The courses came out a bit fast for us. The noise level was unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. Not relaxing at all. Food was very good although some of the combinations were a bit off for us. Bread served once, not offered a second time, but I do think if you ask you would be accommodated. One thing I regret that I think would have made our experience better - there are tables on the bar side - the atmosphere was nicer, I thought, and probably quieter. We’ve done several Michelin one and twos, so we have plenty to compare with.
I had been looking forward to going to Pollen Street social for some time, as it had been suggested to me by a couple of friends. I am really sorry to say however that myself and my co-workers will not be returning. Apart from the exceptionally loud noise levels (you have to shout to hear each other talk), the service was a bit lacklustre. There were a couple of mistakes made with our meals and drinks, but nothing that we wouldn't have overlooked. The biggest issue came when we went to leave, and our path was blocked by one of the staff members. My guests had chosen not to pay the full 12.5% service charge, and despite it being 'optional' one of the members of staff stopped us and announced that we had 'underpaid' our bill, and he would like to understand why. We were mortified by the exchange. I have eaten at many Michelin star restaurants over the last few years and can honestly say I have never had such an awful experience. If he was asking from the point of view of wanting to improve their service, there are ways an means of doing things. Don't announce in a busy room that your guests have 'underpaid' (especially when the service charge is supposedly optional!), instead, ask them politely if everything was to their satisfaction. You might get people returning then, which unfortunately will not be the case with me or my guests. It was extremely embarrassing for me as it had been on my recommendation that we went there, and my guests were left very unimpressed with the whole experience.
Food inventive and thoroughly enjoyable. Attentive service, as one would expect in a restaurant of this level.
The food and wine are superb. The staff are delightful. The noise level in the main body of the restaurant is awful. We moved to a table in the bar area so we could hear ourselves speak and think.
Great food and an unforgettable experience. The waitress brought us another table's food at one point but apart from this hiccup it was great service.
We had an amazing 3 hour lunch. The food was probably the best we have ever had and the service was impeccable. The attention to detail was faultless. The best restaurant we have been to in London. We’ll be back! Soon.
Great food and excellent service.
Fantastic! We had a show to be at and the staff was mindful of our timing. Only wish they opened at 5:30 so we wouldn’t have been rushed!
A very disappointing experience. The basics of an standard restaurant could not be found here; from the noise, service level, the food, decoration and the ambiance in general. Do not compare this social with any other ones globally including city social. Poor Performance!
Bright and buzzing space to enjoy lunch. Faultless food and charming service.
Came for the taster menu for my wife’s birthday. Amazing food, service and probably the best dessert ever! Special mention to the Head Chef doing the desserts, fantastic experience sitting up watching them work.
A lovely evening out to celebrate our anniversary. The food was delicious and the recommended wine complimented the tasting menu beautifully.
A great place for a special lunch where good food Is served with charm.
Outstanding lunch - my husband and I had the three course fixed price menu with half a bottle of red and half of white. Every dish sublime especially the chocolate delice! and the cheese board choices were beautifully explained table-side. Had head about the extras - the amuse bouche, the petit fours - but could not imagine how exquisite they would be. Perfect service and atmosphere. £200 for a special occasion.
Tasting menu was really good. Only point would be that my wife cannot eat ice cream so could not join in 'the Game' course.
Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.
I had a dinner reservation for a Saturday evening for my boyfriends birthday. There was a birthday card waiting at our table which was such a sweet gesture. We both had the Tasting Menu which lasted for about a total of 3 hours and the food was delicious. The staff was fantastic and the birthday cake at the end of the night was such a lovely surprise! We love to come back in the future!
