Ahmad’s vision is to bring freshly prepared authentic Lebanese food to Oxford. Quality and taste are his priorities. Feedback so far is encouraging, his customers are delighted with the taste of his fluffy falafel, babganoush, fatayer, home-made humous and many more savoury treats.
However it is the bread and Lebanese pizzas coming straight from the clay oven that is really making people talk and come back for more. Come and taste for yourself. You will not be disappointed, only craving more of the food from Pomegranate.
Excellent authentic food, plenty of fine mezze choices and a particularly good spatchcock for me.
Love this place, very polite and friendly staff and delicious food.. travel from London to eat here!
Birthday gathering; food was tasty and suited all ages!
Great for our get together of friends. Good choice of mezzes to share. Interesting wines from Lebanon. Very nice, charming staff.
Extensive menu allows you to tailor your meal exactly or choose a pre-selected platter, lovely lunch mezze style, delicious felafel, baba ghanoush, salad and mint tea, good, fast, unobtrusive service from our friendly waiter, pleasant surroundings and very good value. Have been several times before, would definitely return.
Nice atmosphere, staff efficient but the food was average and overpriced.
Came with friends for a birthday dinner. Pomegranate never disappoints - the food is delicious!
Loved this restaurant. We had the aubergine dish, prawns, tortilla and patatas bravas all were very tasty. I had the white Rioja which was great. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had a great buzz.
The food was very good, however, the Liver and the halloumi grilled cheese were very dry!
This is our second visit to Pomegranate having had an excellent meal previously and we weren't disappointed this time. The service is excellent and the food is excellent. This is a great place to eat if going to the O2 Academy or The Bullingdon.
Really lovely food, we ordered the Mezze for 2 and had a table full of dishes! It arrived very quickly too!
Lovely food. Rather quiet but that was probably more about the time we ate.
We had a great evening at Pomegranate. The atmosphere was great and the service was attentive from the staff. We shared the mezze platter to start, which was decent and had some nice things to try (in particular the sausages). For mains both the chicken sharwarma and kebab were enjoyed but unfortunately the kibbeh is not recommended- dry and flavourless. The wine list is interesting with some good Lebanese wine to try. Overall would recommend for an evening out with family or friends.
We really appreciated the Libanese food they served there. Falafels were very tasty along with the lentil soup. We also got some lamb mince - can't remember the name of the dish - and a mouthwatering moussaka. Great value.
Great food and venue. Really enjoyed our anniversary dinner here. Will definitely come again.
Unfortunately the food was quite dry and lacking in flavour, especially the falafal. Not terrible, but there are plenty of tastier options on Cowley Road.
I've eaten here 4-5 times now. Every time the meal is excellent and the service friendly. We will go again soon
This is a great find at the bottom end of the Cowley Road with a wide range of tasty Lebanese dishes, good and pleasant service .
I've been in MOST Oxford restaurants, including some of the top ones in Oxfordshire, but this is one of my favourites.
Good food, good service, good ambiance and good price.
Buzzing on a Saturday evening. Good atmosphere. Great food and wine. Handy walk from centre of town. Parking is difficult.
Food is delicious and authentic- the only thing that could improve it is serving fresh hot bread. The service is not always the fastest and price is medium to high, but you will definitely leave full.
Stunning food in an authentic setting, you'd never know that you were just off Cowley Rd!
We had a lovely time and the food was wonderful and very good value. Good, broad and delicious menu.
Good fresh food, simple but full of flavour and authenticity. A good varied menu including vegetarian. Very good value and a great, casual atmosphere. Not necessarily the place for a romantic tete a tete as tables arranged compactly.
The food is amazing! Really outstanding. The vegetarian plate of starters is a delight an the half chicken is also incredible. Fully recommended.
Good welcome, prompt service, not rushed despite being really busy. Food was amazing and I will definitely go back.
This was our second visit to the Pomegranate and we didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first time. The service was still very helpful and efficient and we enjoyed the atmosphere, but the food was less interesting and tasty somehow. Maybe it was just our menu choices. It was mostly quite good, but the salmon was not so interesting. Recommend the calamari, beans and minced lamb.
We were going to the afternoon film at the Ultimate Picture Palace, just across the road, so we decided to have lunch at the Pomegranite. It was a perfect day. Friendly but discreet service, excellent food and wine, and amazing value. We enjoyed the atmosphere - cool, street, Lebanese without being a Middle Eastern theme park. We'll definitely go back, a lot.
Four of us had dinner. The food was delicious and came very quickly. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff. I recommend the hummus Beiruty and the lamb kofta.
I dined as one of a party of six for a special birthday. Whilst the service was extremely slow, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food when it arrived was plentiful and very good. I would recommend it - however do be mindful that you might wait a while for your food!
Lovely buzzy atmosphere, not been to Lebanese restaurant before and the waitress was helpful in guiding us on what to order. All staff were very friendly and efficient. Food was tasty and interesting and it was nice to share all the dishes. Good value for money too would definitely go back when we next visit the area.
Excellent service from very attentive, thoughtful staff, and delicious food. Was easy to choose things that catered for our party of very strict vegetarians as well as cheerful omnivores. Would definitely recommend Pomegranate to others - but DO book on popular nights or you'll be sadly disappointed!
We went before the cinema and left plenty of time but they were very efficient but not rushed. Food was good value for money and the team there were friendly
I just love Lebanese food. The Pomegranate serves delicious food and has nice sharing options for parties of 2-3. Service is always very friendly.
The best food, and brilliant service. Your homemade hot sauce was ace. Thanks!
With an exceptional range of meze dishes (4.95 each, so grab a bunch!), traditional sides (gotta love the flatbread), and delicious wines, it's easy to see why we keep coming back to this cowley road gem.
Had a wonderful meal with family a few days ago in the evening . I enjoyed sharing many small dishes of food with them . great to introduce people to this type of food and it is very sociable eating this way. The waiter was helpful in suggesting roughly how much to order . i have eaten here many to now ,but the more people at the table the better as more dishes can be ordered to share . my favourite restaurant on the Cowley Road !
We took a friend for a meal before going to the Ultimate Picture
Palace. Friendly service, good choice of food which was very tasty. Only downside was that it was a bit noisy and therefore better suited to younger people. Not the place for a relaxed meal with an elderly relative. Would definitely recommend and go again.
It started off very well with good friendly service and great food and great portion sizes. Towards the end of the meal, the service fell off dramatically because they forgot about our dessert which we were charged for. When the bill was produced I mentioned this to the waitress and she packed a few baklavas for us to take away which didn't look like a dessert for 4 people. As we were rather full anyway, we did not make a fuss. I would still recommend the place because the food was great and the staff were friendly.
Not a good experience. My friends and I had been seated and served our drinks. We were then asked to move to make way for a bigger party. Saw them moving several tables through the night. We wanted to split the bill at the end, with some people paying less as they hadn't had any wine. Waitress practically accused of of trying to run out on the bill as she wasn't listening to our explanations of what we trying to do with the bill
