We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

1st time eating at Poor Calvin's... we will DEFINITELY be going back. Everything we had was amazing, from drinks to dessert... only 1 minute issue is parking. Other than that... TOP NOTCH

First of all, huge shoutout to our waitress, Louisa, who was amazing and gave great recommendations. Every dish we ordered was superlative (aside from my kale salad, which mysteriously lacked any kale — though the accoutrements that came with it were excellent). Definitely a top meal of the year for me. Lobster Mac and lamb chops were to die for.

Wow! Exceptional service, eclectic atmosphere, and very delicious and creative food. I had an absolute blast with my colleagues, and they were all very impressed with the restaurant choice! Will definitely be back.

Concierge, Trevor Hollis at the Georgian Terrace recommended Poor Calvin's to me and advised me that it is one of his favorite restaurants in Midtown Atlanta and I can understand why he said that. Our dinner at Poor Calvin's was a great experience all the way around. The food and service were top notch! Kennedy was our server and Evan ran our food. They both provided excellent service. In addition to the great service, the food was delicious so I would like to thank the talented chefs for a delicious and memorable meal! Thank you Poor Calvin's for a great experience. It was a tour de force!

Service was amazing. Our server was really energetic and sweet. Food was a little overpriced imo. Server did a great pitch for the appetizer special but it was really soupy and sweet not in a good way. Very heavy. I ate the roti and seafood and left the curry dip. We ordered the lobster mac without lobster it was spicy and creamy but not great tasting and very expensive. The gailan was decent but I have had better on Buford Hwy. The vegan chicken Pad See U was the standout dish. If we had only ordered that I would have given the whole experience a 5.

Went there for Dinner on Saturday night. Great experience. I worked in the restaurant business for years in New York and San Francisco, so this review comes from a person who knows ins and outs of food industry. Our waitress Louis was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. They were busy but I never felt that she is under pressure. If I had to pick an ideal team to work a busy weekend with, she would definitely be there. Great team player who knows her thing. 10/10! The atmosphere is really cozy and intimate. You are close to other guests, but don't feel that you are involved in their conversation. Guys, this is THE SPOT to bring your girl on a date. Food is another story. It's really beyond great. Not an exaggeration. We had late lunch that day, so ended up sharing only one app and one main dish. You know how food tastes bland if you are not that hungry? The fact that we were constantly rolling our eyes says a lot. Flavors, presentation, creativity, SIZE of portions. You have it all in one plate. Lobster mac and cheese is to die for. Another lobster dish with rice had so many favors, it was not even funny. You can taste every single ingredient on its own and together they just create a concert in your mouth. A pro piece of advice, if you are one of these people who likes to modify the items on the menu, just don't. Trust your chef and just let them make everything the way they do it. You won't be disappointed. Too bad I was leaving the next day, but my gf came back the next day and had the same great experience. We love your place and will definitely be back.
