Port Restaurant & Bar
Delicious food and great music! There was 1 person serving the whole place. She was very friendly and had our food out in a reasonable time.
The food is Mediterranean which was good. They were out of salmon the night we were there which was a disappointment to my guest who had his heart set on the grilled salmon dinner. We were there for the jazz band because I know one of the members. We enjoyed our evening.
Hidden on a back street in CDM, you might never run across Port Restaurant, and that's a shame. Besides having a huge menu featuring Middle Eastern cuisine, they have two things in short supply in Newport Beach - free parking at a lot across the street and live entertainment in the bar.
We went with a group of 6 on a Saturday night and had a lovely and lively night. The place is so tucked away all of us had never been here before. The menu is full of wonderful choices from Filet Mignon and Shrimp Shish Kabob to more traditional offerings including lamb and stuff I can't spell or pronounce. They are served with rice, but do yourself a favor and upgrade $4 to the special rice, it's fabulous.
I had a Mediterranean Salad topped with ahi, which was cooked to perfection. My husband had the shrimp shish kabob, and the shrimp were delicious, large and grilled perfectly, both were large servings.
The entertainment was a guitarist and singer, both talented, playing standards we could all sing along with. The volume was good, we could still carry on a conversation.
My only complaint is that the service is not the best. Bring your patience and enjoy!
Food is great; excellent live music, perhaps a bit too loud; service has room for improvement.
Great Mediterranean food - I ordered the Kabob sampler that was the best I had and my gf loved her salmon with dill sauce. service was prompt and live music by sweet mahogany was very entertaining - we ll be back for sure
Sat us at the "wrong" table and asked us to move. Moved us to a table that rocked side to side. No server came to the table for 5 minutes after that on a slow night. We got up and left without ever being offered service.
We’ve been there many times including we’ve taken a group of 16 friends several times
The service and automatic hidden gauging fees are unethical the last time we were there we were automatically charged 39% tipping fees
We should be able to choose what we want to tip especially when the service is mediocre and the price gauging are outrageously high!
We won’t go back there and all of our friends we took said the same.. it’s sad
We had taken then lots of business yet they screwed us over time after time.. we’ve decided not to go have dinner there ever again.😡
Port is a fun spot for good food and live entertainment, especially when our beloved pianist ‘Jimmy Hopper’ is serenading the crowd. Menu offers amazing array of Mediterranean and American delights. We typically order the mouth-watering Mediterranean sampler and fish entrees. Owner is super nice.
Great attentive waiter, wonderful live music, well-prepared tasty food, we really like the Port. Prices are fair, love the art that is throughout the restaurant and they have a great patio as well-
We use to be fans of this place for years. The last couple of times it’s been bad but last night was the worst. I have no clue how this place is even open anymore as there was only two other people dining. The only saving grace is they make good drinks and even the bar was empty. It’s nice of a place with live music but it was really loud and couldn’t hear to chat in the restaurant part. The food was absolutely horrible,Quality of fast food at Newport prices. So sad because the ambience is really cool & use to love this place.
Music on Wed so fun!
Tucked in have enjoyed this spot for Many moons
Decent food, although we had to wait nearly an hour for our dinner to arrive, Wait staff and bussers appeared to be overwhelmed and stressed. Good band with local following was playing so perhaps restaurant was more crowded than management anticipated? Menu said 'Add soup or salad to any entrée for $5', but when I later reviewed bill noticed I was charged $7,for soup, the a la carte price. Also, on kabob plate, substituting half salad and rice instead of standard all rice is $3 upcharge. Yes, this in noted on menu, but still... very tacky. Oh, and speaking of tacky, wife ordered martini with stuffed olives. Once again, when reviewing bill next day I noticed we were charged $1 for the stuffed olive! Extremely TACKY. In all my years of martini ordering this was a first... being charged for a stuffed olive!!
All-in-all, upcharges virtually for everything! This is NOT the way to attract and keep new customers. I will NEVER eat at this establishment again. NO respect for patrons. .
Monday night, live entertainment and locals karaoke 🎤 great service (don’t know her name but probably only server there). Brought elderly parents who had a magnificent time!! Made a great memory.
sorry, not again. the only best part was the music that night
The Port is my favorite OC restaurant. Excellent good and service. Cocktails also the best!
Great evening with friends. Entertainment was awesome as well!
We went for brunch and there was not one soul in the place. It is definitely a night time destination, because the place is dark and has a dance floor. The staff was very nice and friendly.
Anniversary Celebration 💕
Service was great food was delicious 👍
Nice place. I went with my elderly mother who didn't like the music (or the noise level). The brunch was nice and the restaurant was interesting. I would go back with younger friends.
Great food and amazing music.
Waiter was very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and music was great!!
We ran out of time to enjoy the evening but it’s a great atmosphere and fun with the music and bar
Alyssa the bartender took very good care of our group at the bar. She was great!
Hidden gem in Corona Del Mar! Excellent setup and vibe and the live music is the ultimate icing on the cake. Very cozy and artsy place. The food is mediocre but not bad at all. They could do well with more options on the menu.
Excellent hidden locals gem. Quiet atmosphere, delicious food. Will definitely be back!!
We ate here Christmas Day and staff was fantastic!
Birth day party in bar, loud music and dark restaurant, service was good, food slightly above average
As vegetarians my wife and I found this restaurant very good. They had good vegetarian selections. Food was very tasty and service was excellent. Not at all too expensive in other words price was right' The wine I got and the spicy margarita my wife got were very good.
The owner is a little quirky and he doesn't know how to communicate with his guests very well, but Jimmy Hopper is amazing and the food is great. Service can be spotty, as well, but overall a very fun place where Jimmy is playing.
Great food and experience as always. If you’re looking for a quiet place, you won’t find it here because of the live band. The band was good and entertaining.
We celebrated our Anniversary, it was a great meal, great service, we had a wonderful time.
Ambience.... but food could have used improvements
Picked this place at the spur of the moment and was pleasantly surprised. Very quaint, somewhat romantic atmosphere. I had the special off menu item of Chicken Marsala that was absolutely outstanding. The consensus with our party of 4 was that the food was very good. I was surprised when we arrived for our Saturday 7:00 pm reservation that the place was empty and I expected to be disappointed was I was not as the food turned out to be very good, more people came later, and they had live entertainment consisting of a girl singer and a guitar player with a backing track.
My only complaint was that the music which I view as background but it may have actually been a bit too loud for our conversation. Otherwise, this is a neighborhood gem.
The food and service was great, but it is a little pricey.
Every time I come to this restaurant and a Stabley Schomann I am always extremely impressed with the care and attention Ali and his staff give to every customer that walks through the door. It is a lovely atmosphere, the food is fabulous, the bartenders are all the best, and the entertainment is sublime. Thank you for another wonderful night
We enjoyed our time at the restaurant. Had to sit out front on the terrace due to an event inside, but the service was exceptional. No view though and I had a different impression of the place before going there. It is not upscale at all, but I loved it for a lazy afternoon with my husband.
Went for a late lunch. Restaurant was pretty empty. My hubby had their Florentine eggs Benedict which he liked. I had the Chicken Breast Kabab. The chicken was delicious and the basmati rice and tzatziki side sauce as expected. But the other little side of diced tomatoes, onions and cucumbers felt more like it belonged with a Mexican dish. No pita bread offered. Our server was okay. The decor is older. No decaf coffee available when we were there. Their little patio has no umbrellas so it will be warm on hot days. I sat inside along the wall on the side with the air conditioning. Those seats get plenty of cold air so sit elsewhere if you don't want that. I've been looking forward to try this
restaurant for a long time. Not sure if we came at the wrong time (different limited menu, no live music, empty, etc) but I left disappointed.
Shrimp kabob deliciously spiced. Hummus, yogurt also very tasty. Reasonable pricing, little dated, but warm atmosphere and when we went quiet. Efficient very good service. Been there several times over the years, and never have been disappointed.
We sat on the patio which was very nice. About an hour into our meal it became very hot. They may want to look into putting some sails/umbrellas on the interior patio.
Perfect eggs Benedict. Fabulous hollandaise. Egg just runny enough. BUT my date ordered eggs over easy and they came scrambled. The sausage was not breakfast sausage. Wierd kind. The potatoes had too many peppers. There were only two tables full including us and service was slow. Not asked what kind of toast. Just white toast delivered.
Food got 4* because of eggs Benedict.
