The kitchen aims to cook very good produce, as simply as possible but with imagination and plenty of care. The menu is driven by what arrives from our suppliers each day.

What Insiders Are Saying
Portland is a great restaurant in the vein of so many in London that focus on simple ingredients and offer a reasonably priced tasting menu.
Our fourth (?) visit, and another really enjoyable evening. We brought two friends- new to Portland- and they were most impressed.
The cooking is not fussy, but there are innovative things that give the taste buds tantalising flavours and varying textures.
Every dish was enjoyed and the French sparkling wine was pleasingly different and inexpensive. Perhaps the NZ Pinot disappointed marginally considering its price.
But not worth cavilling about this.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening and thank you to Portland.

Food was incredible - such a variety of different tastes and textures, and just the right amount.
Service was outstanding.
first time at Portland but it won't be the last. Really enjoyed our lunch. Excellent food, friendly, efficient service but not at all stuffy. Straciatella (how do you spell that?) starter was sensational. Lamb delicious. Nicely curated wine list at probably not the cheapest but still reasonable prices with a separate fancy wine list, which is a nice idea. We enjoyed a well-chosen cotes du rhone, well described on the list. My only regret was getting glasses of English sparkling wine, which I thought was expensive for what it was, but I guess that is a matter of personal taste.
Altogether, thoroughly recommended.
We had the tasting menu. Excellent value in a cosy setting. Went their for a birthday dinner and the staff went above and beyond (card, candle on dessert, DIY shortbread to takeaway). Highly recommended
Great food in a relaxed environment. I don't think we had a weak dish or issue at all. Thoroughly recommended.
Wonderful meal. I would expect to pay a lot more for this standard of cooking. Amazing flavours, nice little touches of additional bites and treats. Would recommend.
Good food, the bread was notably good. Interesting wine list though relatively expnsive wines. Food well prepared and service was nice! Just a good quality restaurant with some interesting choices.
The tasting menu is a must - absolutely wonderful dinner.
Fabulous restaurant. Very vegan friendly. Great wine pairing.
Excellent meal and service from the staff at the restaurant. Special mention for Patrick who was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine selection.
Great meal with attentive service. Enjoy being able to see the kitchen in action. Enjoyable Greek wine
lovely dinner for two. Food very good and good wine list
We had a really good time. The service was impeccable and food is just delicious. Great place for a small group who would like to be able to enjoy a good conversation and some nice food.
So fantastic. Beyond any restuarant experience we've had before and so personal. Unrivalled service. Feels like you're in a family home (if your family home was run by an award winning chef!) The personal touches, like a card signed by all the staff for my partners new job, or the fact they gave us the ingredients and 're how to make cookies at home, was so thoughtful and felt very authentic. Can't fault it
Good fresh indredients beautifully and imaginatively cooked
Really lovely service, and wonderful food. They treated us so kindly and everything was delicious.
Excellent food and wine. Refined atmosphere and very pleasant overall
Tasting menu was varied and tasty! A series of small plates as starters (mixture of pickled vegetables, liver parfait in crisped chicken skins, a pea and clam tartlet, and some tomatoes in a green almond and basil sauce) was followed by small but perfectly cooked portions of turbot then lamb. We traded the dessert for cheese and were pleased to have done so. Accompanying wine flight was generally good although we felt the Zinfandel didn't quite do the lamb justice. Overall, however, an excellent meal with attentive but not intrusive service. We will return.
Fresh, exciting plates of food and a great wine pairing. Friendly staff and a casual setting. Great value Michelin star dining. A must visit.
All dishes well presented and flavourful. Only caveat is if you get the white chocolate, gooseberry and malt pudding dont try just the granita (it’s definitely an all components together dish)
One of my favourite restaurants, not to be missed!
Awesome food! Highly recommend the lamb main course!
Really good atmosphere. Fresh food and a great service. Highly recommended.
Very nice people and very good food. The restaurant's employees joined us to celebrate my husband's birthday ! We didn't expect that ! It was a marvelous surprise. Thank you so much !
We had the tasting menu. Food was absolutely incredible - everything we ate made us smile! The menu was innovative and married great flavour with a few little surprises here and there. Service was second to none and we felt very welcome. Would absolutely visit again.
We celebrated my son’s birthday here and the whole experience was really good. We’d certainly recommend it.
Amazing food. Very creative and beautifully presented. Very good service. All staff knowledgeable about the dishes served which is unusual nowadays !
Very enjoyable, highly recommended, laid back atmosphere and great food
Lovely lunch time menu with friendly service and delicious food. Good value given the quality.
Food with character and attitude. We came for dinner with my wife and were seated next to another couple - the space was tight and helped create a sense of casualness about it. The food was amazing - from the starters, through the mains and the desserts - very creative and meticulous.
A little bit expensive
My fourth visit to Portland and I was not disappointed. The lean, sleek ambience has been improved with the removal of the blackboards. Service was excellent and speedy - though I was dining early at a quiet start to service. Food was outstanding. Not over fussy, no smears of anything, just simply and beautifully presented. Lovely flavours. Something on a leaf was super, followed by plump sweetbreads. I then had lamb which was the essence of lamb flavoured perfectly cooked. That may sound obvious but lamb is rarely done this well. Excellent wines available by the glass, and a good elderflower martini kicked things off. Will be back.
We visited for an anniversary lunch treat and weren't disappointed. We had the tasting menu and wine flight and at £55 for the food it was excellent value - probably no better Michelin star value out there.
The menu was really creative and the wines well paired.
My only criticism was that the service was a bit on the rushed side and could have been a bit more relaxed.
Most amazing experience in London so far. Great service and amazing food
Exceptional food, wine, and service. Went to celebrate a special occasion and we were made feel incredibly special. Now my favourite restaurant in London. Would 100% recommend without hesitation or qualification.
I write one every time I go here. You're a robot aren't you. You don't really care what I think, unlike at the Portland, they always care about you when you go there.
A very good experience. The atmosphere at the restaurant was great and the service efficient, but relaxed and unobtrusive. The food was excellent and the wine menu both a good match and interesting.
Another great evening at Portland.
The tasting menu never fails to surprise and delight.
We went for our Wedding anniversary. Very nice to be welcome with an Anniversary card.
The service was quite quick which was good. We tried the tasting Menu. Everything was tasty except the Chicken which was a little bit dry.
Every else was good.
