Cheltenham’s Prithvi Restaurant, located on the Bath Road, is inspired by no less than Mother Earth – Prithvi being the ancient Sanskrit translation. The restaurant offer a refined and sophisticated approach to dining, sticking to a concept of understated elegance in every aspect, from food to service. Prithvi’s dining room sets the scene for a very special dining experience, the surroundings calm and understated, painted in cream, tables dressed in white and gleaming silver and glassware and with attractive artworks on the wall. Staff are equally well turned out, gliding from table to table as they serve steaming plates of freshly cooked food and quietly take orders, give menu advice and pour wine. Prithvi’s menu is much more than just simple Indian food. It’s prepared using fine, luxury ingredients with dishes cooked to order and though the basics are rooted in Indian tradition, the execution takes its inspiration from modern gourmet approaches

Prithvi Ratings and Reviews
Why did we wait so long to try this absolutely fabulous restaurant? . A five star experience from the warm welcome to the taxi waiting outside to take us home. Delicious food served by knowledgeable discreet staff complemented by great wines. I can't wait to return.
I booked Prithvi for my wife’s birthday. We had been told the the food was really good by friends. The meal we had and the service we received exceeded even our high expectations when we arrived.
I would definitely recommend Prithvi for the ambiance, the service, but mainly for the superb food.
The tasting menu was great, we enjoyed every course, sea bass, scallops, lamb, venison, dessert, everything was beautifully cooked and well presented. A good selection of wine, followed by coffee and brandy, I couldn't fault anything. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated, a relaxing environment and with good ambience. We had been to the races and this was a delightful end to a wonderful day. I would definitely go back to Cheltenham, just to go to this restaurant again...
We opted for the tasting menu which I would thoroughly recommend as it's good value and allows you to try a number of dishes. This is fine dining at it's best with an Indian flavour to every dish . The food is outstanding and the service is faultless. We had an amazing culinery experience and will definitely return.
It was our anniversary so along with going racing during the day & staying the night we wanted to eat somewhere special in the evening. After a bit of research it came down to a couple of choices but we eventually decided on Prithvi & am so glad we did. Not much to look at outside but very contemporary & chic interior. Menu wise you can either do their tasting menu (Prithvi Tour - consisting of 5 dishes including 1 dessert course) or opt for their a la carte options. We opted for the tour & what followed over the next 3 hours was very possibly the most amazing Indian food, albeit with a modern twist, we’d ever eaten. Before the tour dishes appeared there were 2 amuse bouche - there was also an additional course in the middle. Not generally a big fan of salmon but the tandoor baked salmon was exquisite with excellent flavours. The other courses were equally as good; the Muscovy duck breast was perfectly cooked, so tender with amazing flavours, the wild cod with mustard & coconut jus & julienne sprouts (I kid you not!) was divine as was the venison with butternut squash, ginger & cinnamon reduction – again beautifully executed with superb flavours. The desert option of passion fruit cream with mango gel, coriander & honey crumble was a great way to end the meal. But just when we thought it was all over a second dessert course arrived decorated with happy anniversary – nice touch. Yes it’s a bit more expensive & the portion sizes are not your normal Indian restaurant but this is no ordinary Indian restaurant – amazing food, elegant presentation with friendly & attentive staff & we certainly came out full & very satisfied. An amazing dining experience.
We've been dining at Prithvi for a few years and just can't get enough of it! The food and service is always excellent. It's not a curry house so don't expect your normal Indian fare. It's modern European with an Indian twist using lovely Indian spices and presented really beautifully.
We're lucky to have booked a table for next month too!
Fantastic meal on Saturday with my boyfriend. We both had three courses which were each special and different. Very cosy and comfortable experience we were left to enjoy our meal and not bothered at all. Felt very relaxed. Highly recommend this restaurant and the scallops, chicken main and chocolate and salted caramel desert.
We were lucky enough to visit Prithvi for the second time in a couple of weeks. This time it was for an anniversary dinner and it was outstanding. The attention to detail is impeccable and the food always completely delicious. I don't know any other restaurant, including top London eateries, that deliver excellence time and time again like Prithvi. You just have to remember to book for the next time because it's so difficult to get a table!
I like everything about this restaurant. Food explores different tastes and favours. Presentation: well the plates are like a piece of art. Service is second to none. All in all creates a fine dining experience but not overly formal so the atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable.
