Based in the exclusive and vibrant Mayfair, Benares puts on a classy performance with its striking contemporary design. A wide staircase sweeps up to a cool bar, lavished with hand crafted Indian furniture and a series of water-filled ponds decorated with exotic floating flowers. The modern Indian cuisine is as sophisticated as the surroundings and has established itself as a unique eating experience and one of the finest restaurants in London, winning accolades for delicately spiced food and striking design, with standards of service to match. For the ultimate hosting experience, Benares Restaurant can be hired for exclusive entertaining, from weddings to product launches and parties that will never be forgotten. Chef Sameer Taneja personally have designed a menu for the occasion, catering for up to 150 people seated and 300 standing, and our Events Manager can assist with any special requirements such as floral design or Bespoke Menus.

Dover Room
1 Standing | 36 Seated
Our largest room accommodates up to 36 diners, The Dover Room becomes one of the largest private dining spaces in Mayfair. Located separately at the far end of the restaurant, is a long room perfect for banquets, a variety of seating options can also be tailored to your needs. With sepia and paprika coloured prints lining the walls, the simple dark wooden panelled room with white ceiling and sliding doors can also be totally private or opened up to become part of the main restaurant.
Berkeley Room
1 Standing | 16 Seated
A superb private room for up to 16 diners. Backing onto the Sommelier's Room is the Berkeley Room – separated by a wine wall and latticework panelling. At the other end of the room is a pair of hand-crafted doors made from Indian wood. Terracotta walls flanking these doors are complemented by similarly coloured pictures of Benares, the holy city after which the restaurant is named. Seating from 11-16 guests, the room’s doors can be closed for privacy or opened to enjoy the vibe from the bar.
Sommelier room
1 Standing | 10 Seated
The Cellar Room houses a small proportion of the 600-strong wine list but the bottles lining the walls in black wooden racks and contrasting high-backed taupe padded chairs, combine with white linen tablecloths, napkins and black and gold glass show plates to give the room a distinctly gastronomic feel. Seating up to ten in one long or two tables of five, its set to one side of the main bar and has a glass panel looking out onto the main bar area.
Chef’s table

The Chef’s Table on the opposite side of the bar also backs onto the kitchen. A glass window provides a full view of the kitchen without the accompanying smells and noise, while an interlinking door allows chefs to come in and chat to guests about the food if this is requested. The table is simply set with a red runner providing a striking focal point. For up to eight guests this is one of the restaurant's most requested tables.
Exclusive Hire
300 Standing | 150 Seated
The restaurant is located on the first floor, enter up a flight of stairs, where a small pond dotted with tea lights sets the scene, the first floor opens out into the main bar area, which can be used for pre-dinner drinks before events or for standalone parties. Boasting four private dining rooms, as well as an intimate bar area, Benares is able to cater for all occasions, whether corporate or personal, and is available for exclusive hire.
