First visit to Pure Cyprus. It was very quiet when we arrived but gradually filled up. Tucked away in a side street and only found out about it through tripadvisor.
We had the meze for two plus one starter and one main. All the food was well prepared and tasty. The house wine was excellent. Service was good but not pushy and we were not rushed with our meal. Too much food to eat so they gave us containers to take the leftovers home.
Would definitely visit again if in the area and would recommend to family and friends
Friendly staff and great food.
Food took a long time to come to the table. Starters were overpriced considering the small amount of food; stuffed mushrooms should mean you get more than one. However we were given a free dish as an apology. We were also charged a 15% service charge even though it was very poor.
Food was nice although service took a while
Really nice little cafe style Cypriot restaurant, situate in a quiet cul-de-sac, the owner is very attentive and the food is very reminiscent of my time on Cyprus with many traditional dishes. Keo Beer and St. Pantilimon wine are both served here
basic food - alright for quick food. child-friendly a basic place not a place for occasions etc.
A wonderful restaurant serving quality food at regional prices.
Well located for pre-theatre dining for FInsbury Park Theatre
Lovely restaruant really tasty food and fantatastic service will be back!
Very good food, and excellent value. 6 of us ordered a large number of starters to share, came out at £18pp including drinks, and everyone full. Restaurant a bit tired, but attentive service and happy to accommodate splitting payments. Would certainly visit again when in the area.
We met another couple for dinner here and were delighted with the food - the starters were really tasty (the hummus and halloumi were particularly nice) and prompt. We then had Kleftiko, Moussaka, Stifado and I had the Lamb Souvlaki. Everyone enjoyed their meals, but particularly the two of us that had lamb dishes were very satisfied, the meat was done to perfection. The staff were lovely and gave us a little snifter of grappa to help our generous servings go down at the end of the night. This is a real neighbourhood gem. We'll be back.
We booked an early dinner for 4 before Arsenal match. The ambience was nice and the service friendly and reasonably efficient. The food was rather disappointing - dry meatballs and somewhat chewy souvlaki - lots of bread, tomatoes and cucumber but not much meat. The wine was fully priced. It was also disappointing to be reported to Open Table as a 'no show'!
Had a really nice meal here. A bit surprised that the place was more like a takeaway with tables rather than a café/restaurant but it probably felt more like that as we were the only guests sitting down. The food was excellent though - freshly barbecued veg and meat done in view of customers.
Went with a friend before the theatre, good menu selection and we both enjoyed our food, freshly cooked and tasty.
Not hugely expensive, friendly service so would go back.
A very pleasant, comfortable and unassuming restaurant tucked out of the way in Finsbury Park. When we went, it was still getting back to speed following the owner's summer holiday. Good value for money.
Went for dinner for my mums birthday as we live locally. Was very nice and good value. Very friendly staff and close family feel atmosphere.
Arrived to find only two people dining in the restaurant. The waitress was friendly, however, we asked for a Greek white wine but she had never heard of it(this wine is very popular in Cyprus and all Greek restaurants we have eaten in all over the country). We asked for a popular Greek red wine, again it was met with a blank expression.
The starters arrived in double quick time, I ordered the Dolmades, they were luke warm and far too much tomato sauce. My husbayqas slightly happier with his stater of Greek spicy sausage.
We both ordered the beef stifado for our main; we were both disappointed, this is a big favourite of ours but it did not come up to our expectations. The meat was so dry it tasted powdery, the sauce lacked any flavour of cloves, red wine or any of the beautiful spices associated with this dish. We were given a very tasteless beef stew with rice, no salad or roast potatoes which we expect.
The one nice thing about the food was the tzatziki!!!
We were offered a dessert on the house as the waitress could clearly see we had not eaten our main meal...we declined; if the food was anything to go by, we didn't hold out much hope for the dessert.
Great place. Food was great. The owner was very friendly!
The food was delicious and it's a convenient spot when attending the Park Theatre. Everyone working at the restaurant was extremely friendly and helpful. However, even after we told them that we were on a schedule because we had a curtain to catch we we're seemingly ignored for long periods of time. And, the place was not busy.
Fantastic food and lovely staff, would highly recommend
Really impressed with all the dishes we ordered , the pastourma was really good as was the souvlaki. Presentation was simple but elegant and the potato salad was standout, really finely diced. 👌🏼Location is in a quiet side street in Finsbury Park, very near to the station. We were looking for an authentic Cypriot menu and we weren't disappointed. Will definitely try the sheftalia when we visit next time. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the service of food was excellent✅
This was the 2nd time I have been here before going to Arsenal and it doesn't disappoint, nice and relaxed, nice food and not full of fans
This place was great for a pre theatre meal with great renditions of Saganaki, lovely lamb and generous portions. A hidden gem.
Small unassuming Greek restaurant in Finsbury Park. Near the Park Theatre if you need a pre -play meal. Food was outstanding - service casual and competent.
We started with calamari (a little overcooked) and spanakopita (very good).
On the chef's recommendation we ordered the lamb kleftiko, which was served with Cyprus potatoes. The kleftiko was excellent and probably the best we have tasted outside of the Mediterranean.
The wine list is fairly extensive, although perhaps a little expensive for what is more of a diner than full restaurant. A bottle of Nemea Agioritiko was an excellent companion to the kleftiko.
The service although friendly, left something to be desired and we would hope for some improvement on a return visit.
We would visit again and would recommend to friends once we had pointed out the caveats re the quality of service.
We ate at this restaurant before going to the Park Theatre (just a few minutes walk away) and it was the perfect choice. There were lots of small plates to choose from so we were able to have a variety of hot dishes all served in plenty of time. We found the owner very friendly and helpful. We particularly appreciated the delicious tasters that were provided 'on the house'. All in all this is a quiet hospitable local eatery perfect for pre and post theatre eating.
We went to Pure Cyprus for our Christmas party, the staff were very welcoming, service was great and the food was outstanding.
Great new restaurant, hidden behind Finsbury Park Station. Don't let the strip lighting put you off. This has the feel of a family-run restaurant you'd find on a Greek holiday. Lovely.
Pure Cyprus was perfect for a quick bite before the theatre - it is a well presented kebab shop with very friendly and homey feel.
Delicious Greek food and great service. Will definitely go back!
Very good traditional-style Greek food. Casual atmosphere with friendly staff and owner. Good variety of warm and cold starters including dolmades and the usual dips. Souvlaki and keftedes also very good. Variety of Greek/Cypriot as well as non-Greek wines. Complementary grappa at the end was a nice touch.
The service was excellent and very attentive. The balance was just right in terms of being allowed time to relax between courses without feeling the need to chase up our order.
I would describe the food as being good, honest Cypriot cuisine. Simple food done well and the portion sizes were spot on. InIn fact neither of us had room for the complimentary dessert we were offered
Would certainly recommend this restaurant to others and location is great just a minutes walk from the tube.
I really liked my late lunch there, the food is good and the waiters are very kind and polite.
When dining in a restaurant, I seek authenticity. In a Cypriot restaurant when only the patron speaks and understands Greek, that is lacking.
The food (with the exception of my grilled octopus starter) was uninspired and lacking in the textures expected. Fred said that his Stifado could have been any old beef stew, whereas my Afelia had good pieces of pork, it was abit drier than would usually have been expected.
The chef was Portuguese, and the waitress from County Durham, and whilst I like both of these places, they seemed not to have the flair required for a Cypriot restaurant.
I really wanted to praise Pure Cyprus, as I feel that Elias, the patron has put a lot of effort into it.
However, a review must be honest, so this is it.
My wife and I haven't been to Greece for five years now and we wanted to eat Greek food which we absolutely love.
Fortunately, our taste boards weren't disappointed cause we ate the best Greek food in town @ Cyprus , I will absolutely recommend them .
A very natural and fairly cosy small eatery that is unpretentious and friendly.
It looks in between a cafe and a restaurant and has a family like feel to it.
I took a friend for their birthday.
We had a good chat with both the waiter and the owner, even though they seemed pretty busy and rushed of their feet at times. We had to wait a bit for the the order to come through but the food was very good.
The stag are very generous and we received a complimentary small dessert and a very warming shot of a very good grappa. We stayed till closing time.
Will certainly revisit!
Really liked the initial greeting of the owner Elias, who treated us like guests rather than just customers on a busy Friday night. The food was fresh and well executed - octopus was soft and the kebab was tender. We will return for grappa and music at one point!
A recently opened traditional style Cypriot restaurant, close to Finsbury Park station.
A relaxed, welcoming style to the restaurant made us feel immediately at home. We had our baby daughter with us & the kind waitress moved us to the table with most room.
We ordered 2 meze's for the 2 of us. I'd say we both have good appetites but 2 people could probably share 1 meze. There was a lot of food! Meat, fish, houmas, stuffed vine leaves. Every Cypriot speciality you could think of, was brought to our table!! The waitress gave us a box to take the food home we couldn't eat. The rest of the menu seemed extensive & this restaurant is certainly a welcome addition to the area. The owner even shouted me to a Whiskey & coke! If you are hoping a for a plush, fancy restaurant with half a plate of food brought to you Pure Cyprus Kebabs may not be for you. It is more old school, with a friendly atmosphere & personable staff & lots of food! We shall definitely return
They were a bit rushed off their feet before the Arsenal game tonight, which us something that they are going to have to get used to as the food was excellent and reasonably priced. In particular my grilled octopus was tender - and it's not often you can say that - and the spanakopita were delicious. The portion sizes are very generous.
This place had only been open 9 weeks. The staff were very friendly and attentive. For starters I had octopus which was excellent. Mains was kleptocracy which was s but dry/slightly overlooked as were the potatoe. All in all we enjoyed our food
