Top class service: our server was attentive, charismatic, knowledgeable and friendly. It was my fathers birthday and they brought out a card and cake which was a lovely touch. Food is fantastic in respect of both veggie, meat and fish options - just be wary that when you ask for spicy it will be spicy!
Overall, had a wonderful experience and would certainly recommend to anyone!
We had dined here before and thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and the experience. We recommended to friends, who were visiting from Wales, that we ate here (having such a wonderful experience in the past). We were very disappointed. We had to wait 20 mins for our table, which we had booked. We were well looked after by the bar staff. When our food arrived, the waiter just put in all in the middle of the table and did not explain which dishes were which. We were not asked if we needed drinks and had to keep asking staff as they walked passed. We felt rushed and as though we were in the way. As my husband and I had recommended we eat here, we were embarrassed by the way we had been treated. I would hope that this was just a glitch in service as we really did enjoy our visit visit but are mot sure we will be revisiting or recommending this restaurant again.
Best Indian food we ever had, felt comfortable throughout, service professional and polite.
Love the food at Pushkar. Been there many times. But, always feel the starters are over priced - I would rather recommend just going for main course - the food is delicious though.
Food price little expensive but food very tasty.
Awesome ambience and convenient spot to eat.
This is the second time we have dined at Pushkars. The first time the service was absolutely amazing and could not be faulted at all. This time however, despite the restaurant not being that busy, the service was very slow. The time to order starters was at least 20 mins as nobody came to the table after they had shown us to our seats. Then there was a delay with our drinks at least 10 minutes. Then there was a delay in waiting to order our desserts and also a delay in requesting the bill. We were also not given hand towels to clean our hands with after we had eaten the main meals.
The first time we dined at Pushkars, the service was faultless and the orders were taken promptly and the food delivered quickly. This time the focus seemed to be lacking and the restaurant was only half full compared to last time when both sides were fully packed. The food however is absolutely amazing, the presentation and the taste is wonderful and second to none.
Every year me and my wife come here to celebrate our anniversary because the service and food is always great. Best restaurant ever. Pushkars saved my relationship that night! Was I'm her good books again after dinner at pushkars. Thank you!
Excellent experience , superb food and great service. I would say though as a slight negative, the tables were a little small and the seats uncomfortable and cramped. Don't however let this stop anyone from going here. Its well worth it!
Awful service, sat around for atleast 10mins even before a waiter will make eye contact, not one just one occasion but on atleast 4 times, food wasn't to the quality expected don't recommend it to anyone unless you like cocktails and want to get drunk, cocktails were 8/10, service 0/10, food 6/10
Simply fabulous everything was perfect and the small extra touches they added made my birthday feel extra special will go back very soon.
50th birthday meal, Great food and service, let down by service charge at the end which goes to the owners and not staff, a thing I don't like but non the less a great meal & would go again
Pushkar is a fine dining experience, excellent food with a fine attention to detail, with attentive service, all in fine white surroundings, on the high end of the price scale but worth it.
Decided to dine here following a friends recommendation. We were 25 minutes late but phoned through and told it was ok. They were not busy as we were dining early - 6pm Sunday. We went with our 5 year old and she was accommodated well - they suggested mild dishes and she had a mocktail!
Food was delicious, well seasoned and spiced. The pricing was justified -with a main costing from £12, deserts £6, cocktail started at £7 and beer £4. Service was not included.
Service from our main waiter was excellent - although when pressed twice for guidance on food and drink he wasn't able to make a strong recommendation on any particular item. The waitress on the night for our table let the service down. She spoke too softly to be heard and was incredibly confused when I asked her for a drink, saying they didn't have it - except it was on the menu. Situation easily rectified when I pulled over a different person.
We enjoyed the atmosphere. We didn't feel rushed, the surroundings were lovely and the music was ok. The list of cocktails were impressive and I could have easily sampled them all.
In all it was a lovely meal with a lovely atmosphere. I would return to the cocktail bar, but would probably be tempted to try somewhere different next time.
Went to Pushkar to celebrate son going to university. Excellent food and ambience. Very good service. Needless to say was not disappointed at all. Would recommend it any day
This is an opulent restaurant and I've been wanting to visit for some time, being an Indian, I'm always open for an Indian restaurant to become inviting and tantalise my taste buds with the flavours of India. The surroundings are very exquisite and the staff friendly and polite, when walking past the restaurant is always full and I assume always require bookings at peak times especially as the reportary theatre is across the road.
We ordered drinks and our starters, which arrivered promptly and very well presented, I had the lamb chops and my wife the prawns, both of which were good, however, I felt my chops lacked a little flavour and spice, but on the whole quite nice.
The main meal we shared as we are no longer big eaters, which was ok, but not wow, it didn't awaken my tastebuds.
The overall experience of dining at Pushkars was nice, however, this is a top end of the Indian restaurants and the culinary experience is targeted to the nuvueax rich. The price of the meal was high but for this kind of restaurant about right, however, not for me, I prefer the restaurant 3 miles down the road without the flashiness and poshness. If you wish to be treated like a royal then this is the place for you.
Warm, friendly and efficient service. The salmon dildar was succulent, the chicken jalfrezi had just the right kick and the chicken methi was delicious. I like the fact that they also do masala tea, great for cooling down the spices post meal. An excellent range of wines too.
Pushkar blows London 'super restaurants' like Amaya and Chutney Mary right out of the water.
This was the third visit in a month. There will be many more.
I recently had an amazing meal here as part of a stag weekend. The service and food were unbeatable will definitely be returning
This is about my fifth visit to Pushkar and I was pleased to find that standards remain extremely high. Very good food , excellemt prices and attentive service make this restaurant stand out way in front the others.
Came here with a friend, and although we arrived on time, our table was not ready, and we were instructed to get a drink at the bar. We did this, but I was given a nasty look by a waitress as she was wanting to get past me to serve some food - no excuse me or anything, just a look!
We were shown to our table 5 mins later, and the menus were presented in leather bound boxes, which I felt was quite pretentious. A busy waiter who had been walking everywhere at speed asked us if we were ready to order, although we had barely sat down. We explained no and requested some water. This did not come.
A waitress took our order, and again we requested some water. The popadoms were well presented, however, they had added spices to the onions and they were too hot to eat.
Our meals arrived - 2 mains, 1 rice and a garlic naan. As we had still not received any water my friend went to the bar to get 2 glasses of water, after twice asking!
My main was fine, and not too spicy, having requested a mild sauce. My fiends was chicken in a sauce with peppers and onions. The peppers and onions were raw, and there was clearly no care or pride taken in the meal.
I went to the toilet, and when walking there, a different waitress stormed past me, to the extent I needed to dive out of her way into a private dining booth. Had I not moved she would have collided with me! It seems as though customers are welcome only for their money and not to provide a service to.
Our bill came to £40 something although we had only had 2 mains, 1 rice, a naan and some popadoms! We paid the exact amount with no tip, which is something I never do. I feel good service should be rewarded, and Pushkar does not provide good service.
We checked on the price of a bottle of water, had they supplied this, and it was £7.00 for Still Water!!!
The food is absolutely amazing, fantastic place!
We had starters, mains and desserts and the food quality was amazing. The dishes weren't typical Indian restaurant style, they were more of a western fusion. The starters and desserts were of a 5* quality. The taste, presentation & style was second to none and this could easily be a 5* rated restaurant.
The service was brilliant and could not be faulted. Not over powering and gave us enough privacy, yet were available when we wanted something.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this place. The cocktails were lush.... even though we just had fruit based ones and not the alcohol ones. Fresh fruit used in them. They tasted brilliant.
An overall excellent review for a fantastic dining experience.
We enjoyed our visit, the menu had a varied choice with great allergy information. Service was prompt and engaging.
Only downside is the place lacks personality; seemed a little sterile.
Booked this restaurant at short notice for a Friday night meal to celebrate my partner's 50th. There were seven of us and we were seated in a private dining area that could either be partitioned off or left open to the main dining area. The staff could not have been more attentive or helpful in assisting us with menu choices. The food, as always, was superb and the cocktails are to die for (the best in Birmingham in my opinion and I've tried a few!).
We chose Pushkar to celebrate our anniversary as it was recommended by some friends...........What a fantastic experience, a great menu, perfect service and the food was outstanding. We are already looking at our next visit
excellent service. not the same about food experience which was quiet normal and not astonishing as I was expecting
Excellent meal one of the best if not the best Indian meal. Very pleasant surroundings and impressed by the "MenuBoxes" Our waiter AZAD was most attentive and helpful on choices He is an asset to Pushkar. A memorable evening and one we would repeat next time we visit Birmingham. Recomend a visit to all who read this
This is the second time I've been here and this time I was with my friends. Meals are very well presented, looking very good and taste delightful. Service was amazing as they always were there if needed, but not annoying . Perfect
Visited a couple of years ago and really enjoyed but not this time
Booked well in advance for 23.00 slot . Now has Al a Carte menu which basically means serving less for more money.
Very limited menu compared to most Indian restaurants and most items not worth the extra money . Rice an extra £4 per person on top....
Hardly any popadoms served as a starter
First visit to Pushkar, was in Birmingham for my son's graduation, along with my wife and his fiancée.
The quality and choice of food totally blew my son and fiancée away. They had never had Indian food like that before, the service was impeccable. Being a vegetarian, I was amazed at the amount of choices I had both for starters and mains. The attention to detail, especially the menu box that each diner had with cocktail, wines and food menus inside was an exceptional touch. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody that stays in any hotel on Broad Street in Birmingham, and would even travel from further afield to eat here.
Thank you Pushkar for helping to make my son's graduation even more special than I could ever have imagined.
Eaten here twice now and it's one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in years... This week 7 of us went for an evening meal and we all thought it was fantastic with such tasty food! Highly recommend
Pushkar is without doubt the best Indian restaurant we have ever found. The attention to detail, the attentiveness of the staff, the exquisiteness of the food, the beautiful setting, the presentation, the divine cocktails... we can't recommend it enough. The flavours of the food will have your mouth watering and your taste buds tingling just at the mere thought of it for long afterwards.
having booked a surprise barge boat for my husband we needed a restaurant close to brindley place and on the website pushkar looked lovely. we will go back and invite some friends to come with us. the food was lovely (except 1 curry) but did not want to complain. warm friendly staff.
From the minute we walked into the minute we walked out we were treated really well and had great service which was just right, not overbearing but was there when you needed it, The food was also excellent and portions just about right if not slightly on the large size. Everything about the night was very enjoyable and I definetely return when in Birmingham. Fully recommended.
This was our third visit to Pushkar. It was lovely from start to finish. The restaurant itself looks very glam, the staff are very helpful and accommodated our requests (I asked for more spice in my dish) and the food is really tasty. We will be going back again!
You can see why this restaurant won so many awards several years ago - but time has moved on and the operation hasn't. Although we dined on a Monday lunchtime which meant the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived, the food was good and staff attentive.
The tables, decor and menu however (presented at table in a cream alligator covered box that reminded one of posh nightclub dining in the 1980s) were outdated and the whole place needs a do-over refresh (or Gordon Ramsay). The bar was the most disappointing - online info raves about the cocktail selection - which was indeed varied - but the bar staff member clearly did not know recipes and had to refer to a book even for a simple Mojito - and for another drink substituted blackberries to a vodka cocktail that featured blueberries as the main ingredient (with no explanation) ..... and took 15 minutes to make it - even though by then we were the only couple left in the place.
Possibly better on a busier day/night/weekend - but we won't be back to test that theory.
From the moment we walked through the door, our group were looked after by staff who make you feel like you are exclusively their customers for the evening. The surroundings provide a wow factor with and intimate feel. I had dined at Pushkar before, but my other guests were very impressed. Food was superb and timed well. The cocktails were to die for! Will certainly be dining at Pushkars the next time we visit birmingham!
It was not a busy Friday evening, but we still had to ask to order drinks. Waitress was very helpful whilst taking the order. Unfortunately requests were not met (no coriander ) so food had to be sent back to the kitchen. The host managed this somewhat awkwardly! Overall the flavour was good. Good amount of spices used. Unfortunately the pulao rice was not cooked well, overcooked and no flavour. Great drinks selection. As 2 of our party were late arriving the host separated the table, which meant that when they arrived 4 of us had to squeeze around a table for 2. There were actually other available tables in the restaurant. Upon my bill query the Host decided to try and patronise me, which led to the service charge (that is automatically applied) , not being paid. The host really let the restaurant down and spoiled our experience - and it was a birthday celebration!
Everything was great. I booked it saying it was my wife's birthday. But they did not do anything. For my wife's birthday. I aways bring somebody be to this restaurant
We chose a vegetarian platter for main we chose a chicken lamb dish...the lamb was soo tender melted in my mouth , portion was good we couldn't finish I was struggling and found it rude not to, it was our anniversary the suprise cake was a nice gesture thank you for making it a memorial experience wish too cme back soon. We was sat in a corner table near the toilets ..kept getting interrupted by female waiters walking past at one point nearly came onto the table otherwise experience was beyond our expectations
The service was brilliant, our table wasn't ready(we did arrive 5-10 mins early) so we were quite happy to wait in the bar area
Waiter/waitress were brilliant, polite and friendly
food was fantastic
Overall we had a brilliant dining experience here! Would recommend!
We went to Pushkar to celebrate our 2nd Wedding Anniversary and my husbands birthday. The service was exceptional, they really could not do enough for us. The food was gorgeous and we've eaten in a few Michelin star restaurants in the last few years and in my opinion this restaurant deserves a michelin star too!
Cocktails were also exceptional! We went for the flavoured mojitos which were so tasty. They also went out of their way to make a couple of Caipirinhas for us which weren't on the menu.
At the end of the evening they brought out a cake with a candle and also wrote Happy 2nd Anniversary on the plate. Such a nice touch. They made our night even more special. So a massive thank you to them.
