Quaglino's has been the star of St James's since it opened all the way back in 1929. It has hosted royalty, nobility and famously got a nod in Absolutely Fabulous, but it's not all style over substance, this is a class act.
If you take a trip down that iconic staircase you'll find exceptional food, wonderful wines and one of the capital's most decadent restaurant interiors.

Quaglinos's certainly catches the eye and deserving of its' "Iconic" status.
The decor and interior construction is unique and exciting, has a strong art-deco feel.
The food was very good overall, although my beef tartare was a bit chewy. The chocolate fondant was delicious and my main course of guinea fowl was cooked beatifully..
The drinks are pricey but no more expensive than many other restaurants of this quality.
I shall return.

Far too noisy. If you want to talk to the rest of your table don't go here on the evenings when they have a (not very good) singer!

I went here for dinner with my parents for my mum’s birthday. The three course menu with a glass of Prosecco was good value. The food was tasty and fresh and the service very good. There was a live singer on a Wednesday night and it was a good atmosphere.

I hadn't been to Quaglinos for a while and took a house guest there for an evening out. It's gone downhill. We ordered drinks to start with, my G&T came with the tonic already poured and it was difficult to taste any Gin. The 'music' was very loud which made conversation difficult. Service was impeccable, food portions quite stingy and again conversation at the table quite impossible. Overall disappointed with the evening due to the excessive noise and I won't be returning.

So back to Quaglino’s after a two year break. We enjoyed very good service throughout, attentive and unobtrusive. From the start a good welcome, very friendly staff. The food was of high quality, albeit rather small portions. We both enjoyed a velute, and I had sea bream whilst my companion had rump of lamb. All accompanied by a complimentary glass of wine. The plus point, although a rather minor one, was unlimited tasty bread. We will definitely return!

We dined on a Wednesday lunchtime. The restaurant was deserted....only 5 tables taken in a huge restaurant. I assume they don’t really want lunchtime diners....it feels more like an evening venue.....food was adequate....service slow.....I remember Quaglinos when it was a hugely successful brasserie packed day and night. You would be much better off dining at the Wolsey....the Ivy or Langhams.

Excellent food and service. In fact, service was impeccable. Very accommodating. I’d booked a table but due to delays with trains, arrived late and set menu had finished. However, the restaurant were very good and we ordered the 2 course set menu. Excellent value - food delicious, service was fantastic. What a lovely, lively, smart place. Well done and I’d certainly recommend it to my friends.

2nd Time to Quaglinos and again it didn't disappoint. Family and friends for my niece 21st birthday. Food, drinks, Service, Live Band and the Ambience are 2nd to none. The Service manager was very very accommodating and went above and beyond to help.make the evening special. My guest absolutely loved the restaurant and everything about it. 5 Star and I would. Highly recommend as I will be back before the end of the month.

Great food and atmosphere. Service was amazing!! Only downside was the extras they add to the bill which I didn’t understand... they charge for the live music and a charity which I think is uneccesary...I believe you can ask to have it removed but I found it embarrassing to ask.

Quaglinos is a very popular restaurant and this was again proven on our visit early Saturday evening where many tables were taken. This time we opted for the 3 course set menu which came with a glass of sparking wine. We each had a different main course - lamb, sea bream and guinea fowl and all were well cooked and tasty. For dessert the chocolate dessert was classed as delicious and this was from 2 knowledgeable chocolate fans. The staff as ever were very efficient and welcoming - all in all this remains one of our favourite restaurants.
The only slight downside was the Club D + D offering was uninspiring!

We had a super evening with my sister and brother-in-law whilst in London for the Chelsea Flower Show. My husband and I have always enjoyed Quaglino's and it was nice introduce our family to it . It has a lovely bar for pre dinner drinks, superb food and great entertainment. We even danced after dinner! Great atmosphere in a wonderful space with pleasant and attentive staff.

We took two friends out as a way of saying thank you. Both couples have very fond memories of Quaglino’s over the years and we were not disappointed. The place had a real sense of occasion from the moment you arrive and are greeted by he doormen. Inside they invested in keeping the place look very classy and stylish, but this wasn’t a distraction from the food and service which were excellent. My only slight grouch was that the first and main courses came too quickly for our taste

A good surprise was the stage and singer. We wished we could have stayed later when they clear some space for dancing.

We have eaten at Quags for many years. We enjoyed the previous incarnation and had many good times there.

Now:-
1. Far too noisy -- the heavy 'background' music causes diners to talk more loudly and the result is a din -- not a calm experience.
2. Tables far too close together, the result on Friday evening being we were both hit by waiters ( not their fault) and diners coming to their tables who clearly had had too many cocktails.
3. I love my Dover Sole, so what was not right? Firstly, the "of the bone" work was used to train a new waiter -- that's the job for training behind the scenes, not practising on the punters which resulted in bones left in the fish. Secondly, a DS should not be swimming in butter -- most unappetising.

That's that for Quags -- we will never return.

Food is a limited choice for the deal we had but that’s a good thing as it’s freshly cooked. All the choices were tempting . Service ( Ricardo and Alana) was friendly and excellent. Couldn’t be faulted. Food deal is good food at reasonable value. The wine list is close to being prohibitively expensive (minimum one at £45 and then after that one £65 plus for a bottle!) and takes the edge off the experience as it feels like a rip off. I’m sure it’s counter productive for the restaurant as people will drink elsewhere. That would make me hesitate to return or recommend to a friend. Please sort it.

First time at Quaglino's. Husband's birthday so i thought i would treat him to a very special night out and we weren't disappointed. Opportunity to dress up and go into town. London also 'dressed-up' ready for the Royal Wedding the following day and there was definitely a "buzz" which added to the occasion. Would return.

Was very impressed with the overall experience of dining at Quaglino's. From the doorman greeting you as you enter to the attentive wait staff and funky setting, Quaglino's is something different. We were eating the £33 special menu which was varied, all delicious, and well presented, especially the pistachio creme brulee! Would love to go back for a later dinner so as to catch the live entertainment.

The restaurant was very busy but we were seated in a little out of the way area where we could still admire the design but hear ourselves talk.
I was really pleased with starter and main courses both very tasty but slightly disappointed when my pistachio crème brulee was a plain crème brulee with pistachio biscuit balanced on top - not quite what I was expecting.
The waiter was attentive and asked about any food allergies (which I sadly suffer) and was pleased to hear the consideration of.
