And the head chef was there in the kitchen on a Thursday evening cooking up a storm

I went there with my partner and two friends. First thing first: the food is very good, interesting combination and presentation. Unfortunately everything else needs massive improvement to live up to the standard of a good restaurant you want to go back to.
As noted by other people, portions are ridiculously small for the price. The irony is that the whole menu is supposed to be a sharing menu but most dishes are literally a couple of bites so if you are more than two people it's pretty much impossible to share them - one of them was a £13 scallop dish, which was in fact, one scallop. Imagine the fun we had sharing that among the diners.
The front of house staff is friendly but lacks experience and is sloppy, the person who served us was evidently nervous, was mumbling and it was almost impossible to understand what he was saying with the loud music and they added a bottle of wine we didn't order.
The overall appearance and vibe of the place is somehow disconnected to the culinary experience. The former seems to try to be informal, casual and appropriate for a casual meal with friends - loud music, rustic decor and vinyls covers hanging on the wall (?!) but everything else is trying to be a bit more refined and intimate.
To sum up, I think the place has potential because the food is good but they really need to invest in front of house, better decor and rethink their pricing strategy: make mains a decent portion size and charge a bit more and keep the current size for starters and reduce the price for them.
Sunday roast - truffle cauli cheese excellent, and service really brilliant although they were very busy. Horseradish cream didn’t really pack a punch and meat a little bit on the stingy side but overall all very good, will be back to try the tasting menu.
Fantastic meal at 12:51 for a belated birthday. Chef James Cochran and the team are turning out some delicious food. We went for the signature snack (Buttermilk jerk spiced chicken, scotch bonnet jam, corn nuts, coriander) and were talked into the kid goat sharer for two. This was a celebration of goat and despite fancying all other items on the menu we were really happy with our choice. Guess it just means we’ll have to return! 🐷

Some very nice dishes but some where they got carried away. Too pricey for overall experience
Food was so chilled it was tasteless. Flavours thrown together that don’t go together and everything was covered in a ‘crumb’ - the chef is obsessed! Service was good but should be for the overpriced menu. Also, when we arrived they hadn’t got our OpenTable booking. Very disappointing - we won’t be back.
Food definitely interesting, creative - go with people you’re willing to share with and try and few. Everything was very good.
great chilled vibe at 12:51, awesome tunes and amazing food! The buttermilk jerk spiced chicken, scotch bonnet jam is outstanding - I think we ordered 3 servings! So was the French beans, peach, Montgomery cheese, hazelnuts, herb oil! Plus great cocktails and very knowledgeable and attentive staff. I'll be going back!

My first meal here was very memorable. The friendly service was apparent the moment we arrived and every course we ordered was delicious. My favourites were the french beans and the buttermilk jerk chicken (we ordered a second serving), and everything was presented beautifully.
