Very welcoming and relaxed, service was amazing and although we turned up late a table was available upon request. Price for food was reasonable and not expensive. The atmosphere was energetic and view was amazing.
Fantastic experience, gorgeous food and wonderful service, highly recommended
Great location with stunning views across the city. Wine was more than we would normally pay, but quality worth it. Excellent food (apart from grit in spinach!) and will definitely be back.
I found the food disappointing and lacking flavour. Noisy. Ok overall. Expensive.
Excellent from start to finish
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The service was outstanding. Natalie (waitress) who took care of us and the other customers, she was working tiredlessly and should be rewarded with a raise. The food was excellent and the desserts were heavenly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. The view from the building is to die for. Beautiful!
We went for a anniversary meal at 20 stories and what can i say it was on thw whole a very good experience the waiter who served us was polite, professional and courteous. The food was amazing we went for the steak and sides and they were cooked to perfection. This isn't the cheapest place to wine & dine but experience was very good. only complaint i would have is that they add a service charge automatically to a party of 2 (12.5%) which is reasonable but if you want to tip differently (10 - 15%) it woudl feel awkward to ask them to move this so that you can add your open preferred amount. i would eat here again and would reconmend 20 stories for drinks and/or food.
Very comfortable seating with good views from many tables. First went here when the grill and restaurant had separate menus. These have now been merged which improves the offering in both areas. Cooking is very competent and dishes are composed of flavours and textures which lift the menu well above the chain level although you can have a burger for mains: I tried it first visit and found it too greasy for my taste. Four of us dined after the consolidation of the menu and none were disappointed. The dishes and service were all more polished since our first visit. Already a great addition to the neighbourhood and still improving. It's the place to take friends who are visiting the city and will appreciate the views. Go early to enjoy a drink from the bar and a wander round the terrace.
This is a special place. The restaurant design, food, service are all excellent. The veggie option was on the small side, but the chips filled me up...
The outside bar is almost a victim of its own success and rather busy and blingy, though the drinkers were in great spirits and happily accommodated those who wanted to wander about and explore the view.
Service charge was disgusting. I was very shocked!!
Service was exceptional, staff paid attention and gave good suggestions.
We enjoyed our evening.
The only thing is the menu, it can do with more choices for all courses, apart from the dessert menu which sounded gorgeous even though we were too full.
There’s no doubt that 20 Stories is one of Manchester City centre’s most impressive destination restaurants. The views across the city, with a slightly more central location than Cloud 23, are stunning, and the garden terrace is probably one of the most exciting bar spaces in the city.
The restaurant decor sits happily in between opulent and tasteful; the waiting staff are attentive, and the sommelier is knowledgeable without any snobbery. We felt well looked after.
The food is good, but for a price that is similar to the French or Manchester House we would have expected better. The starter of smoked eel, apple, beetroot and cucumber was well balanced. The pea & mint mousse with air dried ham was delicate but slightly under-seasoned.
The special of turbot was very well cooked, but again the accompanying beef broth was not well seasoned and a bit weak in flavour, and similar could be said about the lemon sole. They were pleasant, but for the price and the hype we definitely expected better.
The desserts were, however, very good. The chocolate and violet was impressive in appearance and taste, and the take on strawberries and cream was fresh and not too sweet. With the help of our sommelier we achieved superb wine matches with all the dishes.
So overall 20 Stories is one of the most visually impressive dining experiences in Manchester at the moment. The food also looks great, and there’s a good wine list, but the flavours are less impressive, and so it feels very much like you’re paying for the views, rather than the taste.
My first visit to 20 Stories which came highly recommended, it lived up to expectations!
Great range of food to suit every budget, lovely terrace and cocktails. Made an ordinary week night outing special, will definitely be back, thank you for a lovely evening.
It’s a great place with friendly staffs! Love the cocktail 65 Street they recommend
Really enjoyed the meal at 20 Stories - loved the view. It's a restaurant where you can dine as a special occasion. The food can be pricey but I had the fish and chips which was delicious and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely come here again and bring a friend.
Brilliant place, will be visiting again very soon!
Good food. On the expensive side. Fabulous outdoor terrace which was our highlight of the evening. 180 degree view of Manchester.
I should have complained at the time. The waiter recommended the Veal sharing main course. He completely went over the top with the description saying it was melt in the mouth and the best veal he had ever had and he had worked in some of the top restaurants. Well I love veal but my friend was apprehensive as she hates tough meat.
The veal came in a big pot and the waiter said take a picture. We couldn't see the point as it was just a "bit of veal in a pot". So they took it away, and brought it back sliced up on a plate with 3 potatoes, delicious gravy and lovely mushrooms. But the veal was tough and tasteless and the only flavour was the gravy.
I had a glass of wine (£14.00) which was really nice. My friend had a gin and tonic (£14.00). When the bill came, we asked why the G&T was so expensive and they said it was a double and that is "standard". My friend specifically asked for a single as she was driving that night. Be very careful when you order drinks here.
My advice, if you want delicious food, eat somewhere else. If you like all the pomp and ceremony and being schmoozed by the waiters...AND don't mind paying for it...then you have found your place.
Amazing service . The waiters were so attentive and thoughtful
Food was perfect
Setting was brilliant
Couldn’t fault if
I have been twice now in the space of a few weeks. I think it's excellent. A major novelty of course is the view of Manchester and the surrounding area from the top of this building. That's quite special. I don't think Manchester has another restaurant with that?
Have the floor space is an indoor restaurant and half is an outdoor terrace complete with its own bar and seating and heaters.
The ambience in the restaurant is nice. It's a little noisy like a lot of modern restaurants but you can still have a conversation without shouting at each other which is a plus. The menu and food were excellent. I have tried the mussels and a couple of fish dishes there which can be tricky to get right and both were cooked to perfection.
Wine list is excellent.
Service is very friendly and not at all snobby. Can be a bit slow when busy but didn't bother us.
Clearly it's not cheap (probably a minimum of around £50 a head). Seems everyone wants to visit at the moment with it being new. It's a bit brasher and flashier at the weekends but a different vibe earlier in the week.
Great food, great views, great interior, slightly brash, very modern Manchester.
Oh, and an interesting take on communal loo's.
Great experience , food , ambiance, people, service , location , definitely will be going back
Great table with views over the city.
The service was professional and not rushed.
Quality food with a naughty desert if plum and frangipani tart - yummy
Beautiful setting and decor, great staff but food very poor quality. Ordered a burger and a chicken Caesar salad, burger very basic, hard to find any chicken in the Caesar salad
Amazing views! Ran our waiter really looked after us! Great atmosphere and lovely food, will definitely be back
Lovely ambience amazing views and the service was excellent, food not many choices for vegetarians
Having waited two months from booking I was looking forward to the experience of 20 stories and expecting something a little special inline with all the media reviews. I'd booked for a Friday night and we had a table next to the bar. I could not fault the food and to begin with the staff were friendly and helpful. However, about half way through it felt like we'd been gatecrashed and abandoned, EDM blarred out and 100s of people spilled into the bar area right next to us. I'm not sure what they're aiming for here a fine dining place or a trendy cheshire bar therefore possibly in need of rejig as I hadn't signed up for the latter.
Fantastic setting and well recommended. However, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a tasting menu on offer. I naturally presumed it would be a tasting menu because of Aidens previous restaurant but I was wrong. The food was lovely though but I do prefer the whole experience of a tasting menu especially when you’re paying top dollar...
Setting is fantastic and well worth a visit simply for that. Staff were very attentive too. Well done to Hayley our waitress and Kear the wine man.
Impeccable service. Food was delicious. Amazing views. Best rooftop terrace in Manchester.
Amazing food and service!! We had the pleasure of being served by Andrei, who absolutely made our evening. He was attentive, helped recommend food and how to cook it and it was perfect. He is a real asset to this place. And the food, wow!! We had the wing rib, highly recommended. Look forward to our next visit.
Amazing experience, highly recommend. The only negative aspects was there wasn't many vegetarian options or halaal food. However, the view, service & everything really was fantastic. Lovely experience.
Fabulous 6th time I have been and been spot on each time
Excellent will return
The restaurant was nice. Food was okay. But the service was absolutely worst. First before we went up to the restaurant, we stopped at the cloakroom to leave our jacket. The lady asked if I would like to leave my jacket, I told her no I’m good. But then she ‘suggested’ me to leave the jacket because the restaurant was really warm which sounded rude. Then, we moved to the restaurant. The hostess was nice, shown us the way to the table with a smile. However, the waitress who served us was totally disaster. We were 4 guests in total. Me and my boyfriend first seated, the waitress thought we were 2, she then removed the other 2 set up and handed us the menu. I had to told her that we have 4 guests. She apologised and put the 2 set up back. After the other 2 guests arrived, they were not given any menu for more than 10 min. After we ordered, we had to wait for almost 1 hour for our starters. The waitress then came to apologise for the food delay, so I guess maybe she forgot to send our order or whatever. Again, we had to wait for another 45 min for our main course and 40 min for our dessert. The only good thing that I could raise for the service was the bill. It only took her 3 min to get us the bill which is so fascinating. Thank you for saving us another 40 min to pay the bill. In general, we did not enjoy the service at all. I was so looking forward to try this restaurant once it opened. Thank you again for this extraordinary experience and we will definitely not coming back.
Very welcoming and a good relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
View were amazing and service was excellent. Wine was overpriced with over 200% mark up on a decent Sauvignon blanc.
The view is incredible. It’s a swanky venue so go dressed appropriately. I did however expect afternoon tea - which is not currently available.
We had a wonderful time. Was very difficult to get a window seat yet fortunately the staff kindly helped after we explained how far we had come to eat. Great food, steaks were amazing, the wine was also well priced and tasty, desert was excellent and we ended with a few cocktails to end the night. Nice area outside also. overall I will return !!!
The restaurant definitely has the wow factor, especially as we visited on a sunny date and so got the full impact of the Manchester Skyline. The food and at table service were excellent, however the welcome we received on arrival left me a bit underwhelmed ... we were 'checking in' with the staff member on the desk upstairs, and then another member of staff came over and started talking about where to seat another customer ... and we were left standing there, completely ignored. Not what I was expecting ... I will definitely come back, and will recommend the food and the experience - and hopefully my greeting will be warmer next time!
Fantastic views and the food is very good but small portions so it makes it very pricey with wine it works out at £75-£100 per head so in the long run with so many restaurants all fighting for our custom we will have to see but the views are really something else
Incredibly average and not worth the price. Booked the restaurant as a treat but found that the food was nice but overpriced and that the service was lacking considering the service charge of 12.5%
Got a bread basket whilst we waited for mains-this was half a piece of bread. All three guests had mains, deserts and cocktails. Menu is limited anyway but some options weren't available. Cocktails that we wanted weren't available because they had ran out of sloe gin. Portions are tiny and vegetables aren't included. I was given dirty cutlery for my dessert. Immediately pointed this out that the spoon had food all over it. At the end of the meal went to the bar for a drink, waited 10 minutes to be served on a quiet Monday night. Asked if it was table service (it's not but they charge 12.5% service charge even for drinks that you order at the bar yourself) overed two cocktails which were £26 so I think asking for a £4 tip is absolutely ridiculous given we had already paid a £20 service charge earlier in the night. Wouldn't recommend
