28-50 Covent Garden
In the heart of Theatreland, 28-50 Covent Garden is the face of the St Martin's Courtyard dining quarter. Hand-picked wine lists curated by passionate in-house sommeliers, this big-sister of the famous Marylebone brasserie features a plethora of accessible and high-end wines by the glass - some exclusive in the UK (such as the Chateau de Candie from the restaurant's own vineyard in the Alps). Menu is from Julien Baris, doing what he does best – simple, seasonal modern European cuisine, cooked from scratch on the premises, and of course, steaks, big and juicy, and lots of seafood. Design by Richard Green fuses 28-50's acclaimed no-nonsense wine-workshop style with more than a nod to all-things bling, featuring bubblegum pink and sky-blue velvet armchairs at every table. 3 dining rooms, a connoisseurs wine-bar, an extravagant champagne bar and a killer soundtrack make 28-50 Covent Garden is a must for pre/post theatre or a night of relaxed fun with good food and wine.

Beautiful restaurant and the staff were fab!
Both the food and cocktails were excellent, atmosphere was lively and the service was great. Thanks!
Just got married!
We had the best time. And the white wine was amazing!
Eve was truly amazing. A fab girl - totally on the ball and very clever. Full of charm and personality. A keeper. All the other staff we encountered were gems too… but she stood out!!!!
Steak tough. ( Not rib eye as it should be - fatty and tender). Otherwise all good. The char grilled octopus starter was to die fir.
V impressed with sommelier and how staff coped. Pedro was highlight of evening . His passion and knowledge of the wines was superb and means we will be back. Food was very good as well and everyone (maitress d’ had a broken foot) wanted to make our evening as good as possible. Everyone is working so hard. Recommend the terrine and the tuna
Fantastic food. Staff can’t do enough for you. Would highly recommend
A very special place. Excellent food, service, ambience and drinks. Loved the inside.
Just a perfect venue. Staff were excellent, attentive but in no way hurrying you. Food was superb and perfect for a pre matinee theatre meal would definitely recommend this place for any time of day
Went for lunch on a Saturday. Lovely restaurant, quiet inside as few people in so difficult to comment on 'ambience'. Had to try for a while to get the attention of staff for coffee and the bill but think as it was so quiet inside and busier outside they were concentrating on those tables. Our daughter had burger, she asked for 'well done' although she did say it was burnt. I'm sure it wasn't that bad as she ate half of it! As we wanted a light lunch, myself and partner had Cheese And Charcuterie Selection, Hummus & Pitta Bread, Smoked Almonds and Nocellara Del Belice Olives and I had a glass of wine. Great selection presented beautifully and plenty of it. Would likely come back again.
Great food and service
Many thanks Michael!
Great service from the waiter today who was a tall slender guy, he was tentative to our needs, great understanding to recommendations also. Make the day better also when the reservationist in bright colourful dress found us a table outside to sit as our original table was too near the door and was dusty from the streets that was not to our tastebud.
My only thing is the burrata peaches, sometimes they look great while other time very mushy so perhaps change that to tangerines or something?
If not, great to be back to eat again
We are so delighted to have you back and thank you for your review! Many thanks for your comments on the service, this always means a lot to the front of house team. The burrata peaches - we will look into that. Our menu changes seasonally and a new take on our burrata will be coming soon! Kind regards, Ginny
Pretty appalling really in every respect. Total absence of any staff for most of the evening - dire service despite being quiet. The wrong food arrived, takes ages to feed their attention and they seem incapable of taking any food or drink orders without error. Lots of things off the menu but they were seemingly unaware and had to keep coming back and apologising. Steaks arrived but were both over, wrong sauces, sides missing. Just all a bit of a farce to the point it becomes uncomfortable. I haven’t a solitary positive thing to say about the experience which is a real shame as their branch in Marylebone is a 5 out of 5. Perhaps go there instead.
Dear Cornelius, We are quite shocked with your comments... The general manager himself served your table and we are very surprised you say we got it this wrong. We are very sorry nevertheless. Please get in touch with me via phone directly so we can investigate further and make it up to you. Kind regards, Ginny
Food was excellent (I had salmon ceviche and tuna). Service very friendly and attentive. The pavement situation isn’t ideal but they make the most out of it.
Very nice friendly service from the staff, the meal was lovely, seating outside added to the enjoyment of the lunch. I will go back.
We had a lunch here yesterday between an exhibition and a theatre show.
Food was extremely tasty and the restaurant is in a fabulous location in Covent Garden.
Tom our waiter was so friendly and informative when we were asking about the ingredients.
Reasonably priced tasty food in a warm friendly atmosphere.
Also everyone looked really happy to work there.
We will return.
Excellent restaurant with great food, ambience and outstanding staff.
The service was excellent. The restaurant is very comfortable and beautifully designed. The food was superb. Would highly recommend.
Firstly, let me say that the staff, location and surroundings are excellent. However, the food is decent but nothing special. We had the seafood platter - £35 for some quite flavourless clams and mussels, with an oyster and a prawn - it needs to be REALLY good seafood for that imho and this just didn't have the flavour. We may have just bought the wrong menu items but if you are going to have a seafood platter on the menu it must have the best possible seafood or it's underwhelming.
Beautiful restaurant in a delightful location. Highly recommend
Good food, engaging staff! Experience overshadowed by constant over and up selling by sommelier. Attempting to buy wine was interesting if you picked something there was a concerted effort to give you something else! Generally 20% more expensive and the process made for an uncomfortable evening and an overpriced meal! We
Hi there, I'm very sorry to hear about your experience with the over-selling... Really not great when you're trying to enjoy your meal. We have investigated this and taken action so it does not happen again. Kind regards, Ginny
Great location, good service, wasn't busy, outside tables.
Food was really disappointing - steaks were expensive but very average and nothing special at all and the burger was almost inedible (I only ate a bit).
Unlikely to be visiting again unfortunately.
Dear JFin, We are so disappointed by your comments and apologise for the underwhelming food. Usually guest feedback is very positive, it seems we got it wrong on this occasion. We will get in touch with you directly to make it up to you. Kind regards, Ginny
Have to say it was our first time at 28/50 and was a great success , food , service was
excellent. Andy who was our waiter was fantastic and very helpful with his
time and could not be faulted..... a very good time was had by all of us and we
shall return very soon
Superb service and food, highly recommended. Can’t wait to return
Staff very attentive, excellent food and good value
We had a lovely meal with our 2 children (3 and 6) thanks to a very kind waitress called Eve who was absolutely fantastic with our children. The food and wine was fantastic too...thank you :)
We celebrated our anniversary on Saturday 28 August, our waiter Andy was so lovely an made our experience more enjoyable, the food was delicious and service by Andy was perfect
Pedro was super helpful and very knowledgeable. In fact, all of the staff were great.
Lunch on a Saturday, we had 3 sharing platters and they were all delicious and the restaurant is beautiful
Thank you for your kind comments, we hope to welcome you back soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Small bites were lovely, it was quite quite but nice. However, the tuna main was rare rather than medium rare, and the accompanying sauce and vegetables were disappointing.
Not bad for drinks!
Nice decor at this wine bar. We were seated, and the sommelier came to take our order within 5 minutes. He advised on one wine over the other, but beyond that didn't talk through the wines on offer at all.
The wine arrived fairly quickly but no one ever came to take our food order, so we had to ask to order.
The food was fine (we just had a sharing platter), the wine was nice enough, but nothing outstanding.
Service was slow and uninterested, despite our table being in the middle of the restaurant. The Ibiza chill out playlist was a bit too overbearing and I left with quite a headache.
A shame, as I'd been looking forward to visiting this bar for some time, but won't be returning.
The most amazing food, staff and atmosphere. We celebrated our anniversary there yesterday and we were so impressed by how well we were looked after. I would 100% redolent to anyone
Went or lunch and had the most incredible steak! Highly recommend....the wine was good too1
Wonderful welcome and mentioned our anniversary once shown to table. Free Glasses of fizz arrived at table and a wonderful evening with great service and fabulous food. Would recommend to anyone.
We are so happy you celebrated your anniversary with us, and anything we can do to make it extra special our team will always go the extra mile! Kind regards, Ginny
Great place, lovely comfy seats. Unfortunately there was a wedding party in the back room when we went and the kitchen got very behind. The staff were excellent though, offered us free starters without us asking after they took 40 minutes to arrive. My seared tuna was cold inside, as was my husbands rare steak, but again staff were excellent. Such a shame as we had booked for our wedding anniversary and ended up having to shout at each other to be heard above the wedding saxophonist! I’d go back, but check first to make sure there wasn’t a wedding reception going on! I can imagine without the wedding, it would have been an excellent place to celebrate.
Lovely bar. Delicious cocktails. Great food. Wonderful ambiance. I’ll definitely be going again as this was my second visit in a week
Lovely venue staff very good and attentive really nice afternoon
Thank you for your comments Heather, we hope to see you back with us soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Great spot for enjoying some wine and cheese. The espresso martini was one of the best I have had too!
