28-50 Covent Garden
In the heart of Theatreland, 28-50 Covent Garden is the face of the St Martin's Courtyard dining quarter. Hand-picked wine lists curated by passionate in-house sommeliers, this big-sister of the famous Marylebone brasserie features a plethora of accessible and high-end wines by the glass - some exclusive in the UK (such as the Chateau de Candie from the restaurant's own vineyard in the Alps). Menu is from Julien Baris, doing what he does best – simple, seasonal modern European cuisine, cooked from scratch on the premises, and of course, steaks, big and juicy, and lots of seafood. Design by Richard Green fuses 28-50's acclaimed no-nonsense wine-workshop style with more than a nod to all-things bling, featuring bubblegum pink and sky-blue velvet armchairs at every table. 3 dining rooms, a connoisseurs wine-bar, an extravagant champagne bar and a killer soundtrack make 28-50 Covent Garden is a must for pre/post theatre or a night of relaxed fun with good food and wine.

Beautiful food, wonderful atmosphere, lovely setting
Dear Lisa, Many thanks for sharing your review and we are delighted you enjoyed your experience with us. Kind regards, Ginny
Seating was in a nice part of the restaurant, it was busy and has nice energy. The food was very good along with the wine, I recommend using the in house knowledge for the wine. Overall very nice place to go visit and enjoy.
Hi there, Thank you for your kind comments. Great food, wine and service are central to the 28-50 experience. I'm you enjoyed your evening with us. Kind regards, Ginny
The fondue was nice, however, not enough for two people.
Hi there, Noted your comments on quantity of the fondue, we will look into it! Otherwise, I'm very glad to hear you enjoyed it! Kind regards, Ginny
Perfect location for a friend meeting. The quality of the food is very good compared to the price and the atmosphere is very chill and relaxed. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Low lighting, cramped tables, ok starters but disappointing seafood platter-
Lot of cheaper items like clams and mussels and few more high end such as oysters( one each) and prawns(one each)
Dear Nolan, Your review is very disappointing for us to read, however we are grateful for your feedback as it helps us know where we need to improve. We have had a few comments on the sea food platter not being big enough so we are looking into ways of making quantities clearer to guests. These changes should be in place by the end of the week. Kind regards, Ginny
The steak was over cooked and after asking for a dish with no garlic it arrived with garlic butter. It had to be returned to the kitchen. The service is very good and attentive. The wine waiter’s knowledge is excellent. A lovely atmosphere for meeting with friends. Sadly the food was lacking.
Hi there, Thank you for sharing your comments on the service, this is something which we can be very proud of. Sorry to hear about the overcooked steak, we have recently changed our supplier and have been investigating any issues reported. Thank you for giving your feedback on this and we will look into it accordingly. Kind regards, Ginny
A little bit disappointing. Clearly staffing issues which is to be expected at the moment. London was heaving but restaurants should only take on what they can actually cope with if they are understaffed. An average or bad experience will ultimately mean people don’t come back (ever).
Dear Simon, Thank you for your thoughtful review, although disappointing for us. Every restaurant in London is currently short of staff, yet costs maintain the same, so reducing the amount of clients we take is very complicated. It is extremely frustrating (we are a French firm) not being able to employ any of the Europeans who live so close to our shores, who usually would be vitally important to our industry. Kind regards, Ginny
It was our wedding anniversary and first trip to London with our 5 year old. I had pre booked some restaurants but not this one. It was a bit of a dummy run for a big weekend planned for the spring to see how our little one would cope with crowds, walking and a hectic schedule. All booked last minute so getting into restaurants was not easy.
We failed epically on most things that day!! By the time we got to Covent Garden she was tired/hungry and just about done! I booked on line 45 mins before we arrived for the only reservation I could get that afternoon for an outside table. Our reservation was at 5pm. We arrived at 4.15 and the hostess was simply amazing! Not only did she squeeze us in, but got us a lovely table inside with a plenty of room for Madame to curl up in our coats whilst we had a fabulous meal to celebrate our anniversary!
The food was outstanding/service impeccable and the staff were so understanding! I took my main course home in a takeout bag and ate it at the hotel but that was so not their fault! It was to stop the monumental meltdown that was about to occur!
Hands down one of my most enjoyable moments of the weekend! The ceviche and oysters were perfect!! Xxxx
Hi there, Your review is so kind and it's an honour that we were one of the most enjoyable moments from your weekend! We hope to see you back with us next time, hopefully with better weather!! Kind regards, Ginny
Would highly recommend. We ordered the cheese & charcuterie platter & a couple of starters to share with a bottle of wine. Superb meal & would definitely return.
Hi there, I'm so glad to hear you had a superb meal with us with great food. See you time time. Kind regards, Ginny
Last minute lunch in the area. We were a little early and staff was very accommodating. Good food, service and ambiance.
Thank you for your lovely comments and we look forward to welcoming you soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Expensive pub food but service was amazing thanks to lady in black clothes abs red lipstick . I would go again even if it’s overpriced for what it is
Service was good but very slow. This may have been due to staff shortage, but we never received an apology or an explanation. The only thing that arrived almost instantly was the bill. Everything else, especially drinks, we waited for a long time.
We’ve got a great time. Good food, nice ambiance, the menu has a few GF options which is great and the staff super friendly.
We really enjoyed our post-theatre meal. We settled on the house cheeseburger meals recommended and we were not disappointed. Service was prompt and helpful. We will use again when in this part of theatre-land.
Dear Bernie, Our famous 28-50 cheeseburger is certainly a hit amongst staff and clients alike! Delighted you enjoyed it. We look forward to welcoming you next time. Kind regards, Ginny
Great evening as returning guests. Food, service and ambiance was excellent
Food, service and venue are fantastic. Cocktails highly recommended as well
An absolutely excellent choice for a lazy Sunday lunchtime! Great service and very good food.
Great place to eat and have a drink both inside and outside, if it's a nice sunny day! Food and service was wonderful too.
Had a super time with my sons. Food was hot and very good sized portions, had to leave the table and go to the front to ask for coffee at the end of the meal, but otherwise a very good experience
We had the lamb with new potatoes. Very tasty. Quite good service.
This restaurant was new for us, taking over one of the Jamie Laredo restaurant spots on Upper St. Martin’s Lane.
It is quietly elegant and intimate for a large facility…we sat in the window, overlooking the street.
We started with a marvelous grilled octopus salad, and a plate of raw oysters. For mains, we had the seared tuna and the lamb shoulder. We each had a glass of a marvelous Touriga Nacional wine from Portugal. The food was all around excellent!
We were too full to try dessert, but did have coffee.
Overall a lovely meal. Dinner was approximately £75 a person. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant is nicely decorated. The service was good and very friendly. We had the post theatre deal which was great value.
Amazing food and wine, great service and cosy vibe - love it!
Poor service and a long wait for average food ... the staff were willing and pleasant but clearly not enough trained staff . Disappointing.
Nice ambiance sitting outside food was tasty service was ok a bit slow
Fantastic service. Great food but very loud!
How do you explain perfection, the food was sublime, great service, quality surroundings and all reasonably priced, what more can I say.
D. MacMillan a very satisfied customer.
Lovely place for a birthday meal celebration. The cocktails and seafood platter was lovely, could have done with more variety of seafood, although the octopus ceviche was particularly great.
I almost don't want to give a great review or the next time I book, the restaurant will be unavailable! The food is terrific (party of 4), lovely surroundings, quiet enough to have a conversation. Attentive staff without being intrusive. Desserts yummy too!
Great service from Jennie
Ideal place for lunch with friends.
Ambience , surroundings, food and drink great.
We had the lunch time set menu. 3 courses and a glass of wine for just over £20. Great value and lovely food with a reasonable choice. I had mushroom volute, mackerel then lemon posset Lovely place. Excellent decor.
Excellent food and service at sensible prices.
It was a lovely place for a business lunch. Because there were not many diners at the time we were in, the service was almost over-attentive, but I'd rather that than the opposite, so no complaints! The food was delicious, the wine by the glass was good and the ambience was inviting.
Beautiful restaurant and the staff were fab!
Both the food and cocktails were excellent, atmosphere was lively and the service was great. Thanks!
Just got married!
Good service and great food for pre-theatre dinner. We arrived a little late for our booking but they made sure we were served quickly so we could finish in time. Tuna was delicious.
We had the best time. And the white wine was amazing!
Food was fresh and delicious. Great selection of small plates to share and traditional dinner options. Subtle but lovely twists on traditional items like burrata and seafood platter. Nice wine list. Service was slow, we had to ask twice for water; terrific location for pre-theater dinner but get there early to allow enough time.
