44 Hill Street
We offer seasonal menus for you to share with friends and family, from a causal lunch to sharing plates to a full dining experience – you can enjoy it all with wine, beer, cocktails or bubbles!
The history of this building has ranged from a bonded warehouse to a butter merchants and now we bring you Forty-Four. The history of this vibrant restaurant is evident in the industrialised interior, from the exposed brick work to the metal beams dating back to the last century.
Service was great, Food was of a very high standard. I liked the atmosphere.
Excellent meal and atmosphere. Will be back very soon!
Really enjoyed your restaurant, couldn't give full marks for food as chocolate fondant was bland but loved everything else!
Friendly staff, tapas tasty. Too noisy. Chicken ariabbiata dish had little flavour. Might go again.
Food was excellent, tapas really good, wine superb, waiters very attentive and the place has a cool ambience, and the prices perfectly acceptable. Can't wait to get back
Excellent food, really nice choice, beautifully presented and arrived in good time despite a very busy restaurant. All my friends really enjoyed the food. Really nice to try something a bit different.
Nice surprise, I’ve walked passed 44 Hill street a few times and thought we must try there for a meal. After our first visit I’m glad we did give it a go as the food was excellent, some dishes are quiet expensive but overall reasonable.
The menu caters for most tastes, all with a French or Mediterranean twist, you won’t be disappointed.
The restaurant offer some good wines, decent ones are priced at around the £25 mark, not bad as prices the same as most other city centre restaurants.
Service was a bit slow to start with, but the restaurant was full and obviously they were working to rota on tables as the service improved after our starters were served.
Will defiantly return here again soon.
Very good service and lovely food
I have been there twice, and the first time was for lunch which compared more favourably to dinner in value. The lunch vegan board comprised tapenade, hummus-filled popponcini, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, a small salad with dressing and bread; the dinner vegan board had neither olives nor sun-dried tomatoes. The potato croquettes we ordered were very small and, since there were only three, meant we had one-and-a-half each. The board, croquettes and extra popponcini, combined with a modest bottle of Malbec came to £48, which l thought excessive, given how little we had to eat.
The food is lovely and the service good but l would only do lunch here.
Main course of confit pork with bean and kale ragu was excellent and good value. Good veg. and vegan options.
Service seemed a bit stretched but it was a very busy time (Saturday evening).
Just love this place.
The food is outstanding and the staff very friendly and helpful.
It was a bit mixed, some dishes like the goats cheese tapas and the pickles were great but then the pork belly was deep fat fried to charcoal. Lovely wine and the staff were really nice.
Delicious food, wonderful staff. Didn't feel rushed to leave and everything was perfect.
Very enjoyable 2 course meal with attentive service before attending gig in the black box
The menu was very limited and not exciting. The tapas were very disappointing over cooked and lacked taste. The main menu was difficult to see what was Mediterranean about it.
I think the whole Menu needs a rethink before I would consider going back.
The good side was the wine list was quite extensive so if the food could match up then would be some where worth spending an evening.
We enjoyed a lovely meal of tapas in 44!
Very relaxed and yummy food, great cocktails too!
Beautiful meal in 44 Hill Street today, highly recommended.
Service charge over £10 for a table of 2!! The food was amazing but this left a bad taste in our mouths
Our friends from Oz had came over for a visit so last minute we decided to go into town for dinner, we came to 44 Hill Street as it was close to where we wanted to go after, from the moment we came in everything was great the staff were extremely friendly and nothing was a problem the food was delicious we were never without a drink etc and the food came rather quickly considering many large groups in the restaurant at that time, I would 100% highly recommend and will definitely return :)
3rd time we’ve been and by far the worst experience. Had order taken twice (etc issue with printer which is fair) but got two of the 5 starters incorrect. Sunday pork roast under heat lamp for a while and gravy congealed and meal not that hot. Steak (sirloin) over priced at £27 and again both not hot, two chicken meals hit but dry. Felt like too many customers and not enough staff as barmaid had to support restaurant food orders. A 10% service charge was automatically added to the bill (£19) which I requested it to be taken off due to the lack of service, this was completed. 2 hrs for 2 courses for 5 people in a Sunday evening, not great!
Over-priced, under-seasoned tasteless food.
Crispy garlic potatoes were neither garlicky or crispy, but a greasy burnt mush. Pork belly had been microwaved and hardened as it cooled. Raghu was an oily tasteless mess. I would have commented at the time, but no one cared enough to enquire. Espresso was good though.
Bit of a mad scramble to find a place on NYE. luckily we got a table at 44 for four people. Although earlier than I would have liked (5:45) the place filled steadily and the atmosphere was very upbeat. Food was delicious with exceptional recommendations given for the Goats cheese tapas and Burger main. I’m not one for afters so generally ice cream does but others ordered ‘grown up’ sweets and munched, sang and smiled their way through them. Great selection of drinks and cocktails and service couldn’t be faulted. I’ll be back
Lovely meal here on New Year’s Eve.
Nice cosy restaurant, perfect for the two of us. Had a good wine list. We ordered the Bruchetta and 3 tapas - all excellent and had the outstanding cote de boeuf to share for the main - well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Highly recommend
The service was poor. In an empty restaurant I had to ask a waiter to take a drinks order 15 minutes after being seated. No staff were visible during this time.
Great location right in the Cathedral area of Belfast, good service but decidedly average food. There are many better places to eat in Belfast.
Had the risotto and it was tasteless and the rice wasn’t cooked through. Severe lack of flavours
I love this restaurant. Mediterranean style food with great portions and lovely cocktails. Steak excellent and sharing boards tasty. Staff very friendly and hard working. The owner is always there which makes me think he really cares about everyone's experience.
Great food and service, extremely noisy, probably because of the time of year. Thought it was expensive compared to similar establishments.
1st time visiting, chose it because you can reserve online. The restaurant was moderately busy on a very wet night, not too noisy and warm but not roasting. Quiet music in the background and lots of happy chatter. We asked a lovely Italian man who was serving us for his opinion for the tapas and chose a bruschetta each, a side and 5 tapas. All delicious followed by special coffee and the dessert special which was gorgeous. Overall, the experience was very nice made more special by the service which was so good! The menu options are limited but I could have had anything from the tapas or main courses, the bruschetta was so fresh (tomato, pesto and mozzarella, my husband had goats cheese and caramelised onion). Overall, great spot, lovely food and drinks and super service!
We were a party of 4. The food was lovely with a great selection. We had a lovely meal. It was very quiet and not much of an atmosphere. The restaurant was very big so would be hard to fill. The toilets were spotless and the dining area was lovely. The only thing to complain about were the calypso coffees... not nice. Would go back but maybe later in the evening for a better atmosphere. We were dining at 4pm.
Great new restaurant. Service is friendly, attentive but not overbearing. Food is excellent and real value for money given the high quality. I've been twice now and I would highly recommend.
First time visiting. Lovely food, great service. Tapas were beautiful and steak cooked to perfection. I look forward to returning.
Went on a Saturday night as a couple and found this to be a really lovely venue. We had a very attentive and fun waiter who recommended our choices and the food was delicious! I highly recommend 44 Hill Street and will definitely be back!
Excellent, great atmosphere, only thing was mains slightly cold... but great other than that!
First time here & loved it. Will be back for sure!
We visited 44 Hill Street on Friday 7th Dec. Firstly we tried to order 3 different bottles of wine and on the third choice we were successful that they had it in stock. Secondly we waited over 30minutes for a starter of bruschetta. Then at the end of the meal we ordered what was supposed to be a chocolate fondue and calypso coffees- the desert was tasteless and the calypso coffees were cold- undrinkable. When I challenged the manager he disputed the desert and the coffees were in fact the right temperature. I extremely disagree.
Overall disappointing, will not recommend or will not be back.
Very accommodating for changes to numbers attending and paying the bill. Nice polite staff.
We took a last minute booking at 44 Hill Street on a whim on the first Saturday in December. We arrived early and the place was buzzing. About ten people waited to be seated at the entrance door, but really no one was approaching them. There is a long bar, but they won’t serve at the bar. So waiting customers are left standing coats-on in the doorway. It’s not ideal and a loss of revenue.
When seated at the table the service was much better.
We had a mix of bruschetta and tapas to start. These were all lovely.
I had a stuffed chicken breast main on a bed of bacon and Savoy cabbage. The chicken was lovely and moist.
But there was absolutely no flavour or seasoning on the bacon and cabbage. That was bland and insipid.
I would give them another go on another night, maybe they would do better on a less busy night.
But then don’t offer last minute tables in the first place...
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food was good too. Would advise booking a table as it is a popular place at the weekend!
