The history of this building has ranged from a bonded warehouse to a butter merchants and now we bring you Forty-Four. The history of this vibrant restaurant is evident in the industrialised interior, from the exposed brick work to the metal beams dating back to the last century.

Great new restaurant. Service is friendly, attentive but not overbearing. Food is excellent and real value for money given the high quality. I've been twice now and I would highly recommend.
First time visiting. Lovely food, great service. Tapas were beautiful and steak cooked to perfection. I look forward to returning.
Went on a Saturday night as a couple and found this to be a really lovely venue. We had a very attentive and fun waiter who recommended our choices and the food was delicious! I highly recommend 44 Hill Street and will definitely be back!
Excellent, great atmosphere, only thing was mains slightly cold... but great other than that!
First time here & loved it. Will be back for sure!
We visited 44 Hill Street on Friday 7th Dec. Firstly we tried to order 3 different bottles of wine and on the third choice we were successful that they had it in stock. Secondly we waited over 30minutes for a starter of bruschetta. Then at the end of the meal we ordered what was supposed to be a chocolate fondue and calypso coffees- the desert was tasteless and the calypso coffees were cold- undrinkable. When I challenged the manager he disputed the desert and the coffees were in fact the right temperature. I extremely disagree.
Overall disappointing, will not recommend or will not be back.
Very accommodating for changes to numbers attending and paying the bill. Nice polite staff.
We took a last minute booking at 44 Hill Street on a whim on the first Saturday in December. We arrived early and the place was buzzing. About ten people waited to be seated at the entrance door, but really no one was approaching them. There is a long bar, but they won’t serve at the bar. So waiting customers are left standing coats-on in the doorway. It’s not ideal and a loss of revenue.
When seated at the table the service was much better.
We had a mix of bruschetta and tapas to start. These were all lovely.
I had a stuffed chicken breast main on a bed of bacon and Savoy cabbage. The chicken was lovely and moist.
But there was absolutely no flavour or seasoning on the bacon and cabbage. That was bland and insipid.
I would give them another go on another night, maybe they would do better on a less busy night.
But then don’t offer last minute tables in the first place...
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food was good too. Would advise booking a table as it is a popular place at the weekend!
Good food; very accommodating; very lively; good décor.
Overall a little disappointing. The service was fine although the food was below average. The tapas were greasy and the pasta was bland and watery. The price definitely didn’t reflect the quality. I won’t be back.
Food was excellent nice selection of tapas and mains. The service was friendly and entertaining. Great spot not well known and worth a visit. Close to vibrant bars in QC
Booked for a special occasion food was tasty but a few dishes got delayed. Waiters was very polite. Bit pricey for every day but worth it for a one off
Superb food and great service. We will be back.
I was there last Saturday for my boyfriend’s birthday. Sadly we didn’t even get to eat here so I cannot comment on the food. Our table was booked for 8pm and we arrived just after. Our table was not ready which I didn’t mind at all. It was just that there was no communication about this on arrival. The man greeting us was pleasant but rather than directing us to the bar to wait (where we would have happily ordered a drink and waited) we were standing at the door for almost 10 mins. When we were seated it took almost 15 mins for someone to come take a drinks order, after having called on a waiter twice. At that stage at 8.30pm we decided that if ordering drinks was to take so long, the food may be the same. The waiter apologised but we had decided to leave. The ambiance did seem good and the menu looked really excited so we were disappointed not to get to try it. From the looks of it, there were not enough waiting staff and this is perhaps the reason for the hectic evening. Only maybe 3 people on the floor for a full restaurant. Disappointed this was our first experience as I had heard great things!
Great food, great atmosphere, we had such a super night. Even though the restaurant was short staffed the service was outstanding. Thanks for a great night.
On arrival two staff members continued a conversation and left us standing for close to 10 minutes, they forgot to bring drinks to table and had to be reminded
Poor service. My wife sent her dish back - tasteless with too much oil. She ordered the fish dish - grilled cod -instead. This turned out to be pan fried seasbass but sadly not fried enough. Undercooked. This went back and my wife went without. Awful service and experience.
This is a nice spot with a decent menu and good wine list. The waitress was really lovely but I found the welcome a bit limp and had to ask for a drink when I sat down after being refused service at the bar.
Love everything about this restaurant and looking forward to going again! Food delicious and service excellent, love the wine selection and ambiance, what can I say it’s all good. 👍
All was very good except that my partner is veggie and there was not much choice on the menu for her in the end she opted for a pasta dish without the meat which must have been ready before my meal as it was cold when serve but was quickly heated when we told our waitress
Loved the restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Starter sat on the passe and was cold, chicken was overcooked, Chocolate Mousses was slightly curdled.
When it was pointed out that the chicken was overcooked we were told it would be passed on to the chef, last we heard about it.
Had a pleasant evening in 44 Hill At. Service was very good and food was nice but nothing outstanding. A bit overpriced for what you get. Had cheese sharing board followed by a special of lamb which was nice
Had dinner with group that included a vegan and another with food allergies. Menu was good and restaurant was accommodating. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Only suggestion would be a few more high end wines to choose from. Restaurant was well located in Cathedral Quarter near several nice pubs.
Lacking in quality and taste, steaks were very fatty, starters were bland and desert ‘mousse’ was gritty and again lacking flavour. Service did not check on satisfaction of customer and when told the steak was not edible did nothing.
Good to have a decent restaurant with delicious tapas in this area. This was our first visit on a busy Saturday which probsly explains the wait to be asked for our drink order eventually went to the bar to order myself which perplxed the bar staff who thought we only wanted drinks. Food was lovely and not too pricey we will be back and no problem in recommending to others.
Had to ask for the wine we ordered again as it didn't arrive. Main courses arrived just before the starters arrived, so we ended up sending starters back and not having them.
We then had to ask for steak knives as the serving staff didn't bother to bring us any, and then we were literally chased out after dessert because a large group next to us were waiting on our table to be added to theirs to accommodate the whole group.
Given that we never even got our starters, there was no way a meal could have been had comfortably before they wanted the table back and it's not as if we were late or dilly-dallied. Whilst the food we had was nice the standard of service was so poor it just seemed like they couldn't cope at peak time.
We had booked this table well in advance as well so it's not as if we rocked up without a booking and they were trying to accommodate us.
Ruined our anniversary night out.
Service at start very poor- waiter basically old us to hurry up and order- got drinks order wrong twice. Tonics were already poured in gin and seemed flat- waiter couldn’t tell us which drink wa swuich and was very cheeky when we asked and started talking about there is difference between tonic and soda you know?? Have no idea what he meant but he was very rude - he then got confused about difference between tapas and starters. We felt we were being constantly rushed - the owner came at the end and wa solute but really service was poor all along- I had to ask three times if I could order a dessert and then wa still we had to leave as I had just been served the dessert- food wa define but not brilliant
I really enjoyed my meal, food was lovely and service was friendly and attentive . I had the goats cheese brushetta for starter and pesto pasta with smoked chicken for main course. Portions were very large so couldn't face dessert.😁
I felt that the overall experience was decent but the noise level was too noisy and couldn’t relax or concentrate. Food was good, service was excellent just the noise levels would put me off coming back. Don know if it is to do with the acoustics or seating arrangement.
This is not the first restaurant I've been in where mistakes happen, but it's the first one I've been to where the staff do not give a stuff about customer service. Apparently asking where your drinks are after half an hr wait isn't acceptable to them and neither is asking where your food is when you've been waiting 65 minutes. Avoid at all costs. The food was average, nothing to get excited about at all.
Great atmosphere, great food and super friendly staff. Highly recommended if you like steak and all things tapas!
It took 25 minutes before we were served. The food was very basic, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great.
Went here on sat night with a group of friends who had never been before. The food was excellent as was the service wine and atmosphere highly recommend this restaurant. Also great value. 😁
Food was excellent and well presented. Steak and duck mains were perfectly cooked.
Great location and food was excellent, menu not too expensive but a tad light on beer options. Special leaflet was handed out and main ordered, only to find the venison steak actually wasn’t on! Took a rib-eye instead and it was fab.
Great night for friends get together. Tapas was lovely and service was great
Fantastic new place well worth trying.. We will be back food and staff amazing. Thank you for a lovely evening
Nice looking restaurant
Extremely friendly staff
