Nottingham is a long way from New Delhi, but how far? Well, fortunately, there’s a restaurant that has not only worked out the distance between the two cities, but has gone and reduced it to zero in an instant. That’s how much 4550 Miles From Delhi on Mount Street in the city centre has created an air of the Indian capital in the centre of Notts, both through their menu and through their atmosphere. The open kitchen is designed to recreate the hustle and bustle, the lively and dynamic ambience of the New Delhi streets, and the culinary repertoire is similarly representative of the city. Whether it be tandoori starters, classic curry house favourites or the regional specialities of North India.

A disappointing Valentine's Day meal.

There was only the option of the buffet, so we asked if we could have fish and veg only, and we were told this would be fine. A waiter brought out 2 plates of food and says one was chicken. I asked if this was the right table as we had ordered fish instead, and he said it was fish. I asked him why he had just says it was chicken and he said he'd got confused, but that it was fish. We trusted him and tried it. It was chicken. Got the staff's attention and explained what had happened. We were told the wrong food had been brought out to our table, which didn't explain why we had been lied to about what the food was. We were then asked if poppadoms had been brought out, which they hadn't. We were asked again if they had been brought out before they eventually arrived.

After we'd had the mains, the waiter brought some heated napkins, but no dessert. We went sure if this was to get us ready for dessert, but a while went by and then the staff started moving tables around ready for closing. We had clearly been forgotten about. I said we hadn't had the desert and said we'd be happy to just leave and have some money knocked off. The waiter insisted on bringing the desserts. No discount was offered for the repeated gaffes, and while the staff were generally polite and the food, when correct, was tasty, all in all it was quite a disappointing experience.
