80/20 at Kaelin's
We would love for you to join us. And we look forward to taking care of you.
80/20 @ Kaelins
Great food. Nice location
This was our first visit to Kaelins, and I am certain that it won’t be our last. The staff was following all guidelines and protocols for masks and social distancing. We sat on the patio, and even though it was hot, there were fans to keep us cooled off. Every dish that we ate was delicious, and our server was so helpful and pleasant. Can’t wait to return!
Yummy burgers, fries, pretzel bread and beer cheese.
We are on vacation from Chicago. I looked up some places to eat and found this place. I can’t say enough good things! Food was excellent and attention to detail was immaculate. I watched the staff clean tables and social distance well. I approve of the at least 6 feet distance between tables! Servers and hosts very clean and all wearing masks! Food was delicious and we got a bit of a history lesson about Harlan Sanders. I had the cheese grits and shrimp which was dynamite! My husband had the patty melt. My husband loved the Texas toast variation! Patties were amazingly delicious! Very very clean restaurant. I highly recommend. Wonderful service.
Wonderful response to COVID with their procedures. Food and service was great.
Loved it! 1st time there. Will definitely be back.
Enjoyable night on the patio with good food and great company!
This was our first time here and everything was amazing. Their patio was spacious and pretty, the food was amazing, and the service was awesome. Their whole staff is very sweet. In the age of covid, we saw everyone wearing masks and they took extra care to be safe. They made us lifelong customers!!
Had a great time! Looking forward to going back and getting a burger again!
Our meal was delicious, our wait person was very helpful.
Sat on the patio. It was a HOT night and we had our kids with us and they were a little cranky. But the server was fantastic and got crayons and water out quickly and sat us by a fan. The food was great and the outdoor ambiance was one I can’t wait to come back to. One of the best patios in town. Great drink menu as well.
Service and ambiance was great. Food was good and ice cream was delicious! Most items were reasonably priced and we enjoyed sitting outside.
It was my sister in law’s Birthday. The service and meal was great. They were very nice to give her a scoop of ice cream for her Birthday.
Great patio area and great burgers! Highly recommend
Extremely slow service and inattentive server
Great burger option!
Food was ok. I've been before and forgot the chef doesn't prepare food to desired doneness very well. I ordered a medium burger and it was bloody rare. Guest wanted her burger to be medium well and it was medium rare. Both of us should have returned our meals but then we would have been watching others eat while waiting. Pretty much watched anyway because it was about not fit to eat.
Great food, great service!
This was our first time. Food was really good comfort food. Everything we had was well prepared. Loved the ribeye burger and the fish sandwich (huge pieces of fish!). Excellent pricing and very helpful server. Very nice remodel job to the interior. And SO grateful that staff and most guests are taking all health precautions. It made the whole experience much more comfortable.
May be the best burger in town. Friendly staff and great service!
Great food and the atmosphere was good while sitting on the patio.
Excellent food, safe and distanced...awesome!!
The value and service were all fantastic. The fried chicken is awesome, but be ready to eat a ton as they give you great portions. We will be returning for sure!
Great place to dine. My husband loves the cheeseburger!
Excellent burgers! The service was great and the patio was beautiful!
Best burger we've had in Louisville, and the decorations/aesthetic are absolutely beautiful!
First time trying this restaurant which seems to have a long history ! Delicious burgers. Beer cheese appetizer was phenomenal and best vanilla shake ever. I’ll be back!
Met a friend for lunch very nice!
Very noisy!! Food came out quickly but thinking it had sat as it might have been precooked; my burger bun was kinda soggy and fries were too salty so won’t be back
Food was delish. Service was TERRIBLE! Took forever to get drinks, order taken, new drinks, dessert menu, you name it!
Food came out quick and delicious though. Every time we saw our server come into the room though it was like he wasn’t even looking at his tables to see if they needed anything. He didn’t seem to care really.
Food was delicious though!
Would definitely come again to see if it was a off night on service :)
Great burger and excellent service in a famous Louisville landmark. Ive eaten here three times in my last 2 trips to Louisville and I love this place. The people are nice and my burger was excellent, at least 3 types to choose from. I look forward to coming to Louisville just to eat here. So glad I found it.
Love coming here. First time for brunch. Food and service were great. Poor acoustics and large crowd makes it difficult to hear at times. Too many hard surfaces that don't absorb the sound.
We were looking for a fun place to go post Valentine's day. This neighborhood place was a good find. I knew it was here, but I haven't been here since the change to 80/20. I know I should have had the burger, but I was looking for something different. We started with fried pickles. They were good, and we liked the accompanying sauce. I had the fried fish platter for dinner. The coating was not as crispy as I would like, but the fish was tasty. The brussel sprouts side was good. My husband had wings and a salad, and raved about the wings. Something to change: serve Moscow Mules in copper mugs, not tiny bourbon glasses with too much ice. Total disappointment. I will certainly return for a burger and beer.
Wonderful waitress and absolutely the best burger I’ve ever had! I will definitely be back
Would have been better if I wasn’t so cold. I don’t think they kept the heat going. There was a hair in the burger. Returned it but the rest of us were finished before the fresh one came out. Other food was great
Loved the atmosphere and very friendly staff. Burger meat was under seasoned for our liking. If you're a purist, you'll love it. The ribeye burger was a meal in and of itself! Fries were perfect and the ice cream was amazing!
Didn’t like any of the good I ordered. Chicken sandwich was a loose collection of chicken tenders instead of a filet, blue cheese slaw was bland and almost tasteless, grilled Brussels sprouts were soggy for some reason.
Service was ok. A bit slow but it was Saturday night at peak so my expectations were lowered accordingly
My family had been really excited to get back to Kaelin’s since the original location closed. We went for lunch on a Sunday. When we got there, we were immediately seated, but no one came to explain to us that only the Sunday brunch menu was available (selected menu with about 12 items, plus a small list of a la carte sides). No where on the menu was this indicated, other than a heading saying Brunch and times. The waiter came, took our drink orders, but we were not ready. He came back in a good time with our drinks. We started to order; however, at this point, we were informed that only the brunch menu was available, so we had to adjust our choices and he had to come back. Overall very disappointed. Won’t go back.
Orders: 2 Kaelin’s cheeseburger w/fries; Belgian waffles w/strawberry compote; kids cheeseburger and chicken and waffles.
Here are the problems with what we got, which explains my food rating of 1 Star:
1) Cheeseburger: Burger did not taste seasoned and it was lost in the toppings. The fries tasted frozen. “Special sauce” was mayo, ketchup, and mustard mixed together. Eh. One burger was well done, the other was medium rare. Both cooked appropriately. $11.50 - definitely not worth that price. Maybe $8-9 range.
2) Belgian waffles: The “compote” was very liquidy, to the point that the waffle had sucked it completely up by the time it arrived. There were maybe 3 1/2 strawberries. Waffles were very obviously frozen waffles and were very dry. $12 - definitely not worth the price. Probably $6-7 range, $8-9 if accompanied with a meat.
3) Kids cheeseburger: Was burnt. Badly. Waiter said it was because it was well done for kids. Maybe $6. That’s fine.
4) Kids turkey dog: Good. Maybe $6, too. That’s fine. Brought ~5 mins after other food.
5) Chicken & Waffles: Huge disappointment. Chicken was obviously frozen (think chicken fingers). It was very dry, not seasoned, and chewy. Same issue with waffles: frozen, dry. $12 - not even close.
I never had a chance to visit the original Kaelins, but this new iteration is not to be missed. The restaurant is open and brightly lit. Service was friendly, knowledgable and attentive. The food was amazing and if you are a fan of burgers you MUST make a visit--they have an interesting variety, and the two we tried were both tasty and interesting. The noise level is lively, but not overwhelming.
Good brunch. Limited selection of food. Didn’t want to customize much like an omelet
