Found us a table 20 minutes after reservation, no apology. Food wasn’t good and service was awful. This used to be one of my go to places which I took friends and family and carried out food. We will never come back and spread the news that people should not expect good news and service, telling them them to never go there .
The flavors of each dish was amazingly fresh and delightful. It truly was one of the finest Italian means I have had. We lived the cozy atmosphere and simple decor. The wait staff paid attention to every detail of our needs.
Always great service, food and staff!
The food was good but not exceptional, nevertheless, we had a good time
Always a great experience at A La Lucia thanks to Michael, Wendy and the great Staff! Great service, food and a great evening! Thanks everyone & see you again soon! Sincerely, Scott & Nancy
This is our go to place for dinner. Great food and service. Guests are warmly welcomed back. It’s a place where you feel like family.
Extremely disappointing customer service and unethical behavior. The owner is very rude and if you read the yelp reviews this is a consistent theme since his ownership of this restaurant. The food is fair but not authentic.
After being rudely treated twice during our dinner i informed him when we left that I had been there twice and because of him we would never return. He tried to wrap his arm around my shoulder and told me to never come back. I told him to never touch me or anyone again. After over 600 open table reservations this was like no other experience. This man should not be in the customer service business. According to other reviews, There is also High turnover by the staff due to his intolerable behavior.
I told him I would be writing a review. So when I returned home in order to block my review he cancelled our reservation. After proving to open table that we did honor our reservation and having a $400 dinner receipt they reversed his false action.
I don’t know what more to say other than what we hoped would be a nice family meal on Valentine’s Day with guest from overseas turned into a very unpleasant experience
Other reviews say children our not welcome. This is also true but only by the owner. The staff and regular customers were very endearing.
It a shame because the staff are working hard and deserve a respectful working environment
I hope things change for the better.
Always love A La Lucia! Is one of our favorites! Food is excellent and the wait staff is very attentive.
Great food, fantastic staff, friendly owner - we made dinner part of our weekly routine.
We had not been here for close to a year. As in the past the food is excellent and the prices reasonable for Old Town. It also has a nice casual ambiance. Parking within a block is easy
What needs to be improved is the staffing. Starting with the owner, you almost feel as if he is doing you a favor to seat you (he could be more welcoming, and my neighbors have made the same comment). At the table you are approached by several waiters/staff, but never quite sure who is to take your order
The food and service are always wonderful. Truly a neighborhood gem.
Valentines Day Dinner. Food and service was fantastic. Will return soon
Our neighborhood go-to is always a great value with a friendly staff & food options for all! Michael’s (owner) is most always there & always checks in, chats, etc. We’ve been dining here for 15 years!
Food, service, and ambiance were all fantastic!
We used to love and crave the Involtini. The last two visits this $12 appetizer arrives just shy of being lukewarm. Also the portion size is now ridiculously small. We won’t be ordering it again and are really disappointed.
Totally worth your time. Great food, professional staff, and is now our go to Italian restaurant.
The food and service were everything a family restaurant should be. We celebrated a birthday and everyone had a fantastic time. The servers were very attentive and charming to the two small children with us and at the same time changed hats quickly to provide exceptional service to the adults dining experience. The food was very good and enjoyed by all. Thank you for a great birthday celebration. Five stars!
We celebrated a friend's birthday. The food was tasty. I had Rigatoni with spicy sausage, my friends had manicotti and eggplant parmesan. The bread that accompanied the meal was fresh and delicious. The restaurant treated the birthday girl to a tiramisu, which was yummy. We finished off with a delicious cup of cappuccino each. I would go there again.
Tables were a bit close together so the conversations from the adjacent tables drowned out our conversation. More of a bar/bistro atmosphere than intimate dining. Wait staff were attentive but brusque. Felt more like a diner to be honest.
Mike is the best
Fantastic offerings for restaurant week! So good! Every dish was very high quality.
A delicious meal at my first visit! The linguini with clam sauce was perfectly flavored, the fish of the day perfectly cooked, with a delicious coffee panna cotta to top it off. And the bread- completely worth devouring! Highly recommend.
Our server, Rebecca, was very helpful and answered a lot of questions about the menu, particularly vegan options. There is a gym next door and we felt some thumps from their activities, maybe don't sit in the back room to the right during gym hours!
Had a lovely time! The bartender was funny and approachable when we waited at the bar for a table. He assisted us in ordering wine before moving it to our table. Our server was warm and friendly and offered excellent recommendations. The food was delicious! Definitely hope to return in the future!
A La Lucia never disappoints! It remains the best local Italian eatery in the DC Metro area. The best Italian food and freshest, best prepared fish. A special shoutout goes to Debbie, George, Becky & the entire hardworking staff. Thanks Michael again for a great dinner experience! Your Friends, Scott & Nancy
Terrific food and great professional service.
great service, good pasta, great calamari and extremely family friendly. a cozy, sweet, and nice restaurant that you would want to come to come back again and again (and the host, owner and servers remember/recognize us and greet us like family, even though we have not been here for a while)
The food outstanding. Service wonderful! Highly recommend!
Overall Good experience as usual.
We were told to wait at the bar despite showing up on time for our reservation. It took forever for the bartender to offer us an order.
I ordered Veal with Marsala sauce which was not only an disappointingly small portion but was average at best regarding flavor. Additional wine orders took forever and my water was never refilled.
I would recommend Il Porto or Landini Brothers for Italian in Alexandria.
This has now become one of my favorite restaurants with excellent service good food and they allow you to take your time and enjoy your meal. I am sure my husband and I will be back next time we are in the area.
Always great food, service, ambiance!
One of our favorite restaurants. Great food and service.
Great Italian spot! I really like the option for 1/2 portions on the pasta dishes, ensuring room for their fantastic desserts. After dinner we had a cocktail in their bar. Really like the jazz motif and the great music. Fantastic food, reasonable prices! We'll be back!
The food was prepared nicely and the host was very accommodating, but my wife and I constantly got the impression we were being rushed to eat and pay and get out the door.
Always terrific food, service and ambiance. Love the new menu! Lucky they’re so nearby!
Awesome food and great service. Everyone at a la Lucia is super friendly and the food is always delicious!
My wife and I have eaten here before and had an enjoyable dining experience. However on this day, the experience was not good. Had a reservation and arrived to be told table was not ready yet. That's fine, we waited in the bar area. They must have broken a glass or two at the bar because I felt a sharp pain in the palm of my hand, only to see I had been cut by a glass shard that had been left on what appeared to be a clean bar top. 10 minutes after this we were seated in a booth in the front room. The restaurant had cleared out quite a bit, but it was another 20 minutes before we were initially waited on and offered beverages. This was the theme all night--service as slow as snails pace. This continued the remainder of the dinner. We allocated 2 hours for dining before transitioning to our next evening event and had to call it quits before finishing our entrees. Entree's and Apps were largely unmemorable. Not bad, but not great. I'm hoping our poor experience was just a fluke. It's usually crowded so gastronomics says it should be good. We'll give it one more shot, but to be honest, there are a lot of great places to eat in the area.
Great food, easy parking
