A Touch of Salt
Take in the waterfront views, starry night skies and cooling breezes of our alfresco balcony, or dine indoors in the air-conditioned comfort (sometimes a must in North Queensland!).
The name, A Touch of Salt, is a play on our family name, Brine. Our restaurant began as a family business more than 10 years ago and our family-style approach of genuine hospitality and meals designed to encourage conversation has remained the heart of A Touch of Salt. We have spent the past decade crafting our restaurant as one of the North’s best casual fine dining restaurants.
We are pleased to say our restaurant is appreciated not just by Townsville locals but also by travelers and diners from around Australia.
Service, food and atmosphere was great but sitting inside the venue was loud.
I will still attend but will not book a table inside again
Absolutely delicious meal, with all priority taken to provide a welcoming atmosphere.
As always, our dinner at A Touch of Salt was fantastic!
Bit overpriced and overrated. Food was decent.
Service was friendly but they topped up our sparkling water with tap water without asking. Little annoying.
Food and service were both outstanding. We are looking forward to coming back!
Everything was amazing. All of our meals were absolutely beautiful, the flavours and presentation were fantastic. Thank you for making my sons 21st birthday so special for our family.
A Touch of Salt is an experience not to be missed!
The food as always is impeccable and service is great. With the doors all closed up amd full house is was quite loud.
As always, the restaurant delivered high quality, innovative food with impeccable service. Well done!
We had such a lovely evening - just a perfect place, and amazing food!
As always as a regular patron, fantastic experience.
Awesome food and service as always. Still the best place in town to have feed
Awesome food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, great service, awesome chefs changing their menu to suit gluten free requirements, super friendly manager!
The best food ever, great selection of drinks! Good service - glasses were never empty. Will go again and would recommend.
It was a Valentine's day event. Food and service was superb. Would highly recommend!
Food was good, but not spectacular, I think priced correct, but service? Service was okay, we did have to remind the staff a few times with missed items we orders, once a glass of sparkling for the only lady at the table, another was reminding them about the glass of ice, just not polished service that for me who regularly entertains clientele Salt needs to lift, maybe because it is Townsville?
Went to The Brewery the next night, food not as good obviously but the service was far better!
Excellent food. Rib eye fillet was tender and was matched with great taste sensations. Sweets were excellent. Service was outstanding. We found it to be a little too noisy as the restaurant filled up. Expensive but probably appropriate for the quality of the dishes we had. Highly recommended. We will certainly be returning.
Very nice meal and good service but the experience was marred by the loud constant noise of a group of slightly inebriated ladies first at the bar then at an adjoining table. It was so bad we could not hear each other at the table so we passed on the dessert and coffee preferring to find a quiet venue to celebrate our anniversary. There was also a group of boys near the door being rude to customers going into the restaurant
Friendly staffs, great service, delicious food. Definetely coming back
Great food, great service. Sat outside and kept getting bitten by mosquitos though
My favourite restaurant in Townsville never disappoints. Always great food and service.
The service girls do not hover just quietly move around the tables but seem to appear at the exact moment you would like to order something
Every past experience has been wonderful, and this visit was no exception! Welcoming & hospitable staff, lovely quiet atmosphere, and truly sensational food. Thank you to the whole team for another beautiful evening x
Amazing food with a lovely atmosphere, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fine dining experience.
There was a mix up with the ticket pei ter and my husband waited an hour for over baked scallops. Having said that they were very apologetic and offered us a free drink and mains and dessert came out and were consumed within an hour. My oxtail was delicious but considering my husband paid $34 for his meal and got a similar size serve to my $19 meal he was really dissappointed.
From the onset, service was very warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our time there enjoyable. The food was served quickly and was absolutely devine. I had the reef fish and my partner had the steak and both were beautifully flavoured and tender. Would highly rate our time there.
The prawn dumplings couldn’t taste any prawns, the duck has cartridge or bone in it and 14.00 for the tiniest piece of cheesecake ever
Excellent customer service great food options every cooked to our liking and everyone was very friendly I would highly recommend this restaurant
Really brilliant, delicious food, great scenery and great service
Fabulous food served by wonderful staff that made us feel so welcome from entry at the door. Our 7 yo son really enjoyed the experience and we look forward to returning for another special occasion. An exceptional venue which prides itself on providing outstanding service to all patrons.
Fantastic food, loved the scallops. Great service. Always good. 😁😁
A little pricey and not a whole not of options but my goodness it is definitely worth it! The food was very quick to come out and absolutely mouth watering! Am definitely going back
Great place for a nice date night! Food was incredible and was able to focus on just our conversation. Wasn't too loud in there!
My favourite restaurant in Townsville. My friend asked me what was good on the menu. I couldn't choose a favourite as every time I try something I haven't tried before, it becomes my new favourite. The service is excellent as always. wine list has some great choices and the restaurant is in a great location. Inside is always good, but on a nice summer evening with a breeze from the river, dinner outside is perfect.
The food is exquisite,.
The service is attentive, but not intrusive and very friendly.
Ambience and décor is very nice and aesthetically appealing.
It’s a reasonable restaurant to go on a date or special occasion. The staff were friendly and it has a nice vibe. Our mains were tasty but our entrees and starters were not great. To many tastes trying to be incorporated that the seafood was lost. There was so much batter on the crab you could not tell it even was crab. The wine list is dreadful.
We had a beautiful evening, thank you Mark, “Daryl” and crew.
Great food and service was prompt and attentive. Sharing our entry was no problem, we were even given extra plates and cutlery.
Prompt service and drink ordering; nice ambience on a table outside. Entrée of goat's cheese gnocchi was a texture reminiscent of haloumi, however was lacking the anticipated flavour of goat's cheese. Oxtail entrée was a standout - well balanced, fresh and full of flavour. Mains - rib eye steak and fish with pineapple curry. Steak was well cooked and was paired well with accompaniments, however was not memorable. Fish was far overcooked, chewy and not well integrated with the remainder of the dish. The term 'curry' was a bit loose - the disk was pan-fried fish with a very mildly flavoured curry sauce with thin slices of pineapple and fresh greens/salad on top. Will likely await for a new menu to return.
Was not what we expected. It was very loud and the meal - the rib eye steak - seemed like it was bought from woolworths and was not a good cut..
