I will give F for service. We were a group of 16 people. I ordered mixed vegetable pakoras and what we got was onion pakoras which came 40 minutes after the order. No one came to take the order for the main course until we fetched someone to come over. Their order on phone is ridiculously slow especially for big gatherings. We were all eating at different times. Some were served right away while others had to wait for 45 minutes. It was chaotic and unorganized to say the least.
They had included 18% gratuity to the bill without informing me and the waiter asked if we were interested in adding additional tip.
The staff is not friendly and courteous at all. Literally have to run after them to get their attention.
I would not recommend this place for big groups. Their service for small groups is tolerable.
The Vada was un cooked and i asked the server to have it replaced , i had ordered poori masala had to go talk to manager to have it delivered. Thalli was good . Overall mixed reaction.
I think this is the best I have seen with respect to service, ambience and food. Love the huge menu choice, but would recommend warning the customer if their particular order would take longer than usual (as happened to our item that was ordered as the main meal). But very much appreciate that it was not charged to us. Overall, great job A2B. Keep up the quality of food and we will always love to come back!
The pictures did not match the food, resulting in our over-ordering. The sambar and the chutneys could be more tasty -- they were rather bland.
Good Food. Keep up the quality. You can try more varieties
Though we had a reservation, we had a 45 minute wait while other larger groups who walked in after us were seated.
Appetizers arrived last. The food was mediocre. No ambiance, very loud and tables are too close together.
Most dishes were tasty. Sambar and samosas were a bit sub-par. Rava dosa was great.
They did not honour the reservation Manager was gone for some catering job and on-site manager was just too green to know how to handle customers. Their Excuse was - we know you had reservation but then sometimes people don’t show up so did not keep a table for you. We even offered them help to move a table to accommodate our party of 9. Answer was - our waiters get confused as our entire system gets messed up. The only options they had was split your family on two tables separated in a way that they can’t even talk or sit outside in sweltering heat.
So even when we had heard good reviews about the food, making reservation 2 weeks in advanced abs showing up on time, we ended up leaving without eating.
Went here for Mother’s Day, was fairly packed but socially distanced. Food was good, the only problem is they forgot the get the masala for the dosa and the Sambar was cold and did not taste like before (felt like it was waters down). We told them the sambar was cold, and they were like OH, we actually advised them to take them back and at least put it in the microwave and give. They took it back and bought back the same cups and it was only lukewarm. Best time I guess to go is when it’s not a holiday or weekday when they are not sooo busy. I don’t think they were equipped to handle a crowd and so the food lacked in taste.
No safety precautions!! None of the serving employees and order taking employees didn't wear gloves!!! Sefty wise I don't recommend
We ordered entree and appetizers at the same time. The appetizers came after we were done with our dinner
Couple of things to improve:
1. Appetizers came last
2. We felt the medhu vadai was not cooked well. We had the same experience with mysore bonda last time.
The service could be better though as we got our food from 1st person until 6th person with 30 minutes of difference. Some people were already done with their food when the last person's food arrived. This put a dent in my overall rating.
Food was good , but the outdoor tent was very dirty and spoilt the mood for eating .. prefer to dine in than outdoors but we were denied entry inside ... took a long timed or food to arrive ... being a Adayar guy I have huge respect for the franchise , but this one in Virginia did not do justice to the legacy of A2B as a brand ... sorry
Service is very poor and for the amount of money paying for the food they are hesitant to provide extra chutney and the sides with out which the main dish can't be eaten. Pleasee provide it without making the customers asking for it again and again and waiting for ever.
Great meal as always!!!
The service is excellent . We have been to this place 3-4 times with different family members since the pandemic started. Our first experience was great so we returned;however, the issue is the serving of cold food, especially the dosa. They took it back; we did not receive the paper dosa that we ordered by regular dosa. We were kind of bummed, but oh well.
We will return, but start with we need our food served extra hot (temperature).
We have been to A2B in Herndon a few times since it has opened. We feel the south indian sidedishes like sambar, chutney, kurma have gotten bland. Main dishes like dosai, fried rice, poori, Gobi 65 were great.
Had a good experience and meal. would recommend to friends
Great socially distanced protocols in place in the main dining room. Food was delicious!
Good for South Indian dishes. Outside Tent Seating in Back Parking lot is well distanced.
The food was marvelous and the service was kind and gracious. Dealing with Covid challenges is still being worked out but this is now my local India food go to.
Went for breakfast -had a craving for South Indian food.
Excellent food. Service was great.
Would highly recommend the food.
Food was good.. service was quick..
Excellent Vegetarian Food... Just Yummy at Right Price Cost
We love this place! The food is top notch and reminds me of the A2B locations I’ve been to in India. The sambar vada is always amazing and you can’t go wrong with any kind of dosa. The madras filter coffee is a perfect finisher to any meal as well.
They’ve done a great job with outdoor seating during these times of COVID, putting up tents in the back parking lot and even adding decor. I’d come back every weekend if I didn’t live 80 minutes away, though we do make it out every few months anyways!
We came with 4 kids and we requested to get the kids food first and it was kind of them to be prompt. The kids loved the ghee roast with Sambhar chutney and positive. They loved the Sambhar . Then they ordered for paper roast . They loved it too. My husband ordered for Chole batura unfortunately it was not that good. The batura was more like a dead balloon. I ordered latcha parotta and navarathna korma. Navarathna korma was good but expected to see some authenticity but it was more of a simplified version of the navarathna korma . Vadacurry was not as expected . Chilly parotta was good . Gobi 65 and chilli corn was good. Kids loved the food happy and satisfied . Indoor dining is available and outdoor dining is also available. Social distancing is well maintained and all staffs were wearing mask and social distancing was maintained. No paper menus were provided . U need to scan a a code on the table and can view the menu on your phones . Each restaurant had its own speciality and I think they are good at dosas
Tiffins are the best here. Especially pongal. The parottas with korma are a delight. Paneer pulao with cauliflower 65 would be a great choice.
The South Indian dishes such as idli, dosa and vadai were authentic and simply delicious. I ordered the aviyal and it was nothing like what it should be- quite a miss! The chole-batura is also recommended!
Horrible service. Waited too long for the one single waiter for over 20 tables outside, even after making a reservation. Later seaters got better service than us. Go figure that one out.
Food was very good. However, service needs improvement. Main food came way before appetizer. Also, no one came to ask how things were going during the lunch.
Service was slower than I would have liked. I think they are short of experienced staff.
