   I am not sure what this restaurant is trying to be. As Allium, which I remember fondly, it was stunning but now it seems to be a sort of weird cross between expensive (and I suspect pre-frozen) small plates and sort of middle-Eastern -meets- European cooking in a very odd mix. What the hell is the point of a Flatbread Margherita - which turned out to be a soggy flatbread topped with a sloppy mixture which I think contained some tomatoes mushed up with a bit of mozzarella and possibly a bit of anchovy, with mozzarella, fresh tomato and a few basil leaves on top - it was tasteless and had the texture of a dishcloth. The staff were lovely and incredibly pleased to see me - the only diner in the place - and I honestly felt like running out (having paid much too much for 5 panko breadcrumbed prawns and the aforementioned pizza/flatbread mess) yelling that nobody who likes food should ever go there … and only restored myself with a welcome gelato from the wonderful proper Italian ice cream parlour just around the corner. Sorry, but this restaurant has really lost its way and needs to do a major overhaul, find its identity and stop wasting a stunning position in this beautiful city.

   Think the bar area with painted chairs and wooden tables not a success. On our last visit it was cosier with comfy seating and a more sedate atmosphere. Staff and food/drink excellent

   We had an excellent afternoon tea yesterday, we were very impressed with the service especially when I mentioned that my daughter had some dietary issues and the chef made her individual sandwiches and cake. The two staff at the bar in the art restaurant were so attentive and pleasant they made it a very pleasant experience. I would not hesitate in recommending you.

    The starters and desserts were very good, but the Main (Venison) was very salty and could only eat a small portion of it. I did inform the waitress who said she would tell the chef, but I did not hear anything from the kitchen. Would be a little hesitant to go back to the restaurant

    I've eaten there a couple of times and have found the fish to be wonderful and the food to be generally very good. However, yesterday the steak I ordered was overcooked and very very chewy, and I couldn't eat it. I complained and they didn't acknowledge that, nor did they take it off the bill at the end of my dinner.

    Visited for Sunday lunch. Only people in the restaurant- now know why. Very overpriced with a limited menu. Despite being the only people in the restaurant- plates from starters weren’t cleared before mains came out. Plates then not cleared for a long time. Wine corked- but not given a chance to taste wine. Overall very disappointing.

    The service was good and the food was excellent. A real eye-opener. Think they could do something about the decor to create a bit of ambience, but otherwise very happy with the restaurant and will return.

    It’s so difficult to book a table for dinner in Bath on Christmas Day. We were so fortunate to get a booking and was surprised that despite it’s a bar snacks, everything was better than we expected. Thank you so much to the servers who were very polite. They made the day memorable!

    We was very cold in the room yesterday, we was advised the heating was on but it was cold air coming out of the heater! Apart from that the meal was fantastic! I made a mistake and didn't see you had to pre order the Xmas menu but nethertheless the food was beautiful! Definitely will return again in the future :)

    Well, we arrived planning a spa visit in the morning but we got tickets for the afternoon so we had to very quickly change our lunch reservation from a local French restaurant to this Abbey Hotel kitchen!?!?… We had low expectations as a late available booking and from the outside it looked very quiet. But we were so impressed. It was warm, cosy, fab art, amazing service and delicious food. A great price and very friendly service! We left feeling very happy.

    Food was good quality although menu limited. There were only 3 tables in on the Saturday night and all 3 were crammed in together whilst the rest of the restaurant was completely empty and the atmosphere was not great.

    The worst dining experience I have had in a very long time. The room we were eating in was cold there was no background music which created an uncomfortable dinning experience as we could hear other tables conversations. Absolutely no atmosphere at all, in fact seemed rather a tense atmosphere in the place. Tables far to close to one another. When we paid cash for our dinner we were informed she could not give us change as they didn’t have any resulting in her getting nearly £10.00 in a tip. Are they saying g this to every customer who pays cash. Couldn’t wait to finish our meal and leave quite frankly.

    It was a last minute booking at random, but I think we lucked out, food was great and the service was perfect. Slight minus that we couldn't order any cocktails because the barman wasn't working, but other than that I would definitely recommend

    Would definitely recommend this hotel bar. Lovely view when sitting outside and facilities inside are high standard. Plenty of seating, good food and drink options. We visited to celebrate our trip to Bath following our wedding the day before and were treated to a very nice chocolate cake with macaroons, strawberries and chocolates. They definitely went all out for it and was much more than we expected! Service was decent, no delays and enjoyed our refreshing drinks and tasty food (croquettes, spring rolls).
