Had bottomless brunch, paid £35 for 2 courses. My 'Absurd Eggs Benedict' sounded like a dream on paper however in reality it was one tiny quarter of a waffle(?!) with what looked like a large piece of chicken but turned out to be 80% batter. Really disappointing. Not worth the money.
Overall pretty good and was pleased with the experience. French fries could have been cooked a tad bit longer but everything else was good. Did mention it was a birthday booking but this wasn't reflected.
We booked a table for 6 on a Saturday evening. Had a rubbish table downstairs near the kitchen. Not only was it so tucked away the waiters forgot we were there, they'd have had trouble hearing us calling given the tinny speaker in the ceiling above this great table, blaring out some 90s stuff, so loud we couldn't really hear each other.
When we finally captured a waiter, he took drink order, and only 5 of the 6 drinks arrived after 20 mins.
We then ordered a bottle of prosecco and got something completely different, some rose sparkling stuff that wasn't even on the menu.
We waited and waited for another bottle, gave up and went to the bar to ask for it directly.
Food service was quicker, food was really good.
Waiter was a nice guy, total service shambles. We didn't pay the 12.5% service charge as there was no service to speak of.
Nice people, nice food, awful service.
Great food, very reasonably priced and service was pleasant and efficient
Good food & pleasant, helpful service with a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Server was awesome and engaging.
The chicken was to die for! Not recommended for slimmers. The corn pudding was lush but couldn't finish the dish due to the large portion.
They didn't have our reservation in their system though which may be due to an issue with the link to Open Table? Luckily they were able to accommodate us.
Not bad. Drink was a rip off
Come here for the chicken & waffles! Plenty of other good chicken items as well but the waffles combination is exceptionally good.
Oh yes - their mac and cheese also pretty tasty!
Good, attentive friendly staff made for a good experience
Quick service and great food
Love the food, been a while since Ive enjoyed good food. My new favourite spot
We went for a bottomless brunch, food was good, the staff a little slow considering it wasn't very busy. Portions are so big if you do the £35 bottomless brunch special so go in with a big appetite. Instead of topping up your glass they take them away once you finish then give you a new glass with a new top up, it was a strange rule. Overall quite pleasant.
The photos of the food on the website was the main selling point.
The starter of chicken wings and the sweet potato fries were tasty.
My main meal of crispy chicken burger was okay, but not worth the money, especially as you have to buy a side order separately as the burger comes with nothing but a kitchen knife in it!
The service was not great as a few mistakes were made with the order and one of the party's order was forgotten and some items were missed.
The only reason I would recommend this restaurant is for the food, which was generally good.
The burger needs to be improved though as the bun fell apart before I could finish it.
We really enjoyed the Absurd Bird. Went on Friday evening and it was busy but not mad. Good service, very nice food - not a huge choice but it is basically all about chicken. A nice relaxed atmosphere and good value for money. Would definitely go there again.
Went with my wife and 2 friends for a meal on saturday night
Food was very good - although the portion sizes were enormous. Excellent wings and starters. Main courses were all really enjoyed by all of us.
The beer was good as well!
We will definitely be returning
Had a fab night on Saturday, great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. Can't wait to return to try more dishes!
Food excellent, though portions larger than described so order carefully. Service by wait staff was excellent friendly and prompt. Only area for improvement would be in the drinks service. It took them 20mins to bring over a bottle of beer and the restaurant was only 1/3 full at best. Not great if you're thirsty! Food served in excellent time. Highly recommend the artichoke and spinach dip.
Average absurd bird. Food is fine and reasonably good value but this place won't wow you. There are better alternatives in the market currently with tastier side dishes.
Poor quality food
Slow service without a smile
I know it seems an odd choice for a vegetarian but I was very impressed with the options at Absurd Bird, particularly the delicious spinach dip. The lunch deal for £16 is amazing and would definitely recommend it. Check out the lights in the shape of binoculars too.
Loud room, absent service, poor choice
Great food and service. Good happy hour cocoktails.
The unusual decor was quite different and made the place stand out. Food was good and the service was ok staff were friendly.
It's southern, comfort food and heavy on the fried chicken avenue so there is limited choice for vegetarians and those who calorie count.
That aside, the food is delicious and they certainly know how to make their fried chicken. The ambience for a Friday night was a little muted but we did eat slightly before 8. Drinks menu is somewhat limited but competitively priced.
Overall good experience and food but if you want to clog your arteries, I wouldn't go there frequently.
Sorry to be so brutal - but honestly it was the worst chicken we have ever had. The chicken wings were covered in a tasteless batter (no seasoning or herbs or anything) fried but not particularly pleasant to eat. The sides came ages after my friends finished their burgers. Again, the crispy chicken burger tasted of nothing. I would never return here.
The service was very slow. We waited about half hour for starters and no one came to the table after we ordered. I had to ask after 20 minutes what was going on with the food. The excuse was they had a lot of orders. The restaurant wasn't full but there were a lot of Uber eat and Deliveroo drivers picking up orders. I think they put the delivery orders ahead of the dine in orders. The wings and jalapeno mac weren't that good but the artichoke dip, blue cheese dip, and corn bread were very good. The chicken was fine, ordered sliders and chicken burger.
I had the chicken and waffles which was delicious. The fried chicken was still moist inside and the spicy sweet potatoe fries were good too. Service was good. The only bad thing was the number of Deliveroo and Uber drivers blocking the doors waiting for their orders.
Super tasty and good service I would recomend this place
