The food was excellent but the acoustics in the venue were awful. It was way too loud to easily have a conversation and there was a band setting up next door which made the noise levels way worse. Also, the staff only told us on arrival that we’d have to leave by 9pm as they had another event booked in that night and had to clear the venue. All in all a bit of a disappointment and a real shame as the food itself was first class and we’d been really looking forward to visiting.
Waited ages to go here and I wasn’t disappointed. Food was amazing and I can’t wait to go back
Great food, really friendly informative staff and a nice atmosphere
Top quality food in a cool space / atmosphere. I’d definitely recommend
The food was delicious and service was we had was brilliant. Thanks!
The food was really tasty and something a bit different from usual brunch offerings. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Love the setting too.
No issue with the venue, and had wonderful meals there previously with Ka Pao. Julie’s Kopitiam’s is grossly overrated. The food is lazily hashed together, inauthentic and not true Malaysian cuisine. Who would use ready made frozen roti canai, fold it over and call it a murtabak for example. Overpriced for teeny prawns. So disappointing and no idea who is leaving these glowing reviews.
The food was really poor quality for the hype of the dumpling night. One dish that was served was wontons in a noodle soup, and the noodles were stuck together, as if they were pot noodles. Dim Sum, Opium and Dumpling Monkey offer far better dumplings, and if you really want a benchmark of what they should taste like, try Din Tai Fung (currently only in London).
The set menu cost approx. £25 per person which is extortionate for Malay / Asian food!!!
I wouldn’t recommend and nor would I waste my time trying another pop up at SWG3. Go mainstream if in Finnieston!
Wonderful experience, would highly recommend to anyone wanting a special night out!
Food was cold and mediocre at best. Braised aubergine: literally half of the massive aubergine in the soup of soya sauce, no cutlery given with it. Its impossible to eat it with the chopsticks folks!!! The best part of our meal was a bottle of portuguesse wine. Dessert nice, but lacked sweetness for me, personally. I was so disappointed I dont even want to try their venue on the South side.. £70 out of the window, had to make sandwiches when got back home.. not impressed at all, although heard amazing things about South side venue..
We had a fab time on a first date. Discussing Aristocats vs Lizzo was obvs a bonus 😃
Food was incredible and service did not disappoint. Would definitely return
Amazing meal and good value. Fantastic space to spend time and enjoy a meal.
Food was amazing! Such great value for money too. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Shall definitely return Xx
Lovely unusual food with good service and great ambiance. Will definitely be back.
Vibrant atmosphere, great Malaysian inspired food and drinks
I didnt like the food. Thers was no option to eat other than Malaysian so total waste of money and i found it very expensive
Amazing food, and love being able to book Julie's in advance. Service could be improved, as we didn't get plates to share food, and servers could be more attentive. Brilliant experience though
What a great evening! Staff very attentive coupled with exquisite food options made this a delightful dining experience.
I was there for my friend's 40th and the food was delicious. Great cocktails too. The only thing was the menu change. When I booked the table for 1:30pm the menu on the website showed an extensive choice. When we got there we were presented with a brunch/lunch menu which was predominantly brunch with not much lunch at 1:30pm on a Saturday. I usually wouldn't mind but I'd already had breakfast and was looking forward to choosing from the menu I'd seen online. My friend who's birthday it was had also been expecting the bigger choice menu. So a little disappointment that could have been avoided. Overall though, food was great and service was great. Small things to elevate service - would suggest only clearing plates away when everyone has finished eating. And I had to ask for a bowl from my prawn peelings. No bowl of water/lemon to clean my hands either. Little touches that could be considered...
Really great staff, fantastic food. Thank you for a great night out.
Everything about Julie’s at the Acid Bar was brilliant. The food is next level good; the venue is cool and modern and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Each dish was so tasty and unique; the team behind Julie’s have accomplished something really special. I’m already planning my visit back.
This has to have been the best food my partner and I have eaten in a looooong time in Glasgow.
We ordered 5 different dishes and all were so tasty we hardly spoke through the meal!
The staff were attentive but not too much and they were all very well presented.
I will recommend endlessly!
Great menu and atmosphere! Would definitely come back.
Food,drinks and overall atmosphere 10/10
Presentation was excellent too
Overall the experience was ok - not as good as I was led to expect. We arrived on time for our table but were seated at the bar to wait for another party to finish - this was ok but seems quite unnecessary as there were lots of empty seats that didn't get filled in the time we were there. The front of house staff also checked my name several times and I felt like my booking hadn't gone through, so I felt a little bit out of place at the start, as though they weren't expecting my booking. The waitress also only gave us one menu and seated us in the middle of a bit long communal table, which was noisy and not ideal, especially as there were still free seats at other tables and in one case the whole table was free. The food was good but the menu wasn't discussed with us as I expected and I think the menu needed that extra touch, which we saw other people, in bigger groups, get when they arrived.
We had a great night at Julie’s. Food and service was brilliant.
Wonderful menu and everything we had was delicious. Nice selection of cocktails and cool venue. Service could have been a bit quicker, especially on drinks, but was generally good and friendly. Will definitely return.
Food was excellent, service was good and timely and prices very reasonable.
Location was a disappointment having previously been to Julie’s in Shawlands. The venue had no atmosphere, felt very clinical. Seating arrangements were very uncomfortable, it felt very squashed in and unnecessary given the size of the room, could very easily fit in plenty of smaller tables which offer more privacy.
Overall if I visit Julie’s again it would definitely be the Shawlands one, which was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had.
Was a little noisy but it’s an open casual friendly place conducive to chat and bonhomie .
Bar was cold. Food was mostly pretty good and tasty but none of it was very warm, even the fried chicken, discounting the dishes with were intentionally cold. There were quite a lot of little things with the food and service like the mango being really unripe, cucumber being pre-sliced and obviously not kept in water which was a bit disappointing. There was a fly in my noodle salad, but I chose not to kick up a fuss about it as I work in hospitality too, and suppose it could have got there after leaving the pass. Nice to be able to see in the kitchen but it was all looking pretty inactive and was a bit disconcerting to see Julie running her hands through her hair before plating up. Staff and service were good enough, not especially friendly or with any energy which was surprising with it being the opening weekend of the pop up and I was expecting it to be a bit more buzzing. Didn't seem particularly keen on being there, so were just milling around chatting to each other, and were forgetting to explain the menu or specials to tables.
Pretty dissapointing as had been meaning to try the food for a long time but the whole experience was bad. Price was good.
Loved the food here. Knew what to expect from southside kopitam but felt like it was extra special. Service was fine, the first person who attended to us was fab attentive, knowledgable and responsive. Others were more varied but friendly-couple of prompts needed. Atmosphere was odd but that’s our fault for booking at 6. We will 100% be back. Amazing food.
Julie was absolutely amazing! She was so lovely and accommodating to me and my friends who had some food allergies. Some of the best food I’ve ever had in Glasgow! Would highly recommend.
Wonderful exciting new quality food in Finnieston. A must visit for all foodies. Could not fault the service - Happy bubbly people. Sadly background noise prevented us from having perfect evening.
