We had excellent service. They initially sat us at a table for two that was packed very tightly between a large and loud group and another couple on a date who seemed to be having a disagreement. We couldn’t hear each other so we asked to move and they moved us to a great table. They were very accommodating and helpful. And we had a great night because of it. Food, wine, and waiter also excellent.
Fabulous birthday dinner for restaurant week. Got the blueberry steak and pear & cheese ravioli as entrees. Both sound so bizarre in name, but were mouthwateringly delicious. The mozzarella in the caprese salad was incredible as well. Been in Florence and DC both and am a big fan!
Visited DC for the long weekend, just happen to be restaurant week! A few friend recommended this place and it did not disappoint. I got the mushroom fusilli recommended by our waiter and it was delicious, big portion as well. My boyfriend got the famous steak with blueberry reduction, if you go you HAVE to try it. Also, if you're visiting the area the bar next door Tunnicliff's is a fun local place to grab a drink before or after dinner!
excellent service and superb food. Every dish --start to finish-- was equally excellent. Highly recommend Acqua Al 2!!
I did a reservation for restaurant week for 5 people for Sunday 1/20. When I was in the table, they told me that they don't offer restaurant week menu on the weekends. I didn't find any information about this policy on their website. They advertise their restaurant week menu but when you arrive, they change the rule. We didn't leave because it was too cold outside and I am pregnant, but it was not a good experience at all.
Food great. But OpenTable & Acqua al2 have a problem. Resturant Wk OT web site indicates they particate for lunch Sun20Jan but upon arrival I'm told No... only brunch on Sun. They had info but didn't tell me until I showed up. Poor.
The restaurant is really nice and cozy. Not too happy with the Restaurant week menu, not much Italian on it, the Filet in Blueberry reduction great idea, but not a good idea serve it by itself; good Garzanzo cream soup, and Dessert was good as well. Server was not too friendly, and forget my Sparkling water. I might give the restaurant a second chance for a full menu Italian experience because of the decor and ambiance.
Delicious - but no GF pasta. Service was as excellent.
Not as good a value for Restaurant Week as the restaurant where I'd gone for dinner the night before (La Piquette): small selection of options (only 2 desserts offered) and small portions. That said, the quality was very good, so if you find the average 3 course meal (especially at an Italian restaurant) to over-stuff you, Al Acqua 2 may be the perfect choice.
Friend from out of town came to visit and we tried the restaurant together for the first time. Did the restaurant Prix Fixe. 100% recommend this place.
We wish we had known about it (& the one in Florence) earlier, since we have missed out on many great meals. In a recent conversation with a GWU graduate student about favorite restaurants in D.C., she raved about it and said it was the very best restaurant of the many she has patronized. So we checked it out for lunch ASAP.... & we agree with her rave reviews!
The food was awesome. If possible, I hope to give 10 stars!
Visited for Restaurant Week. Some dishes were great; others were disappointing.
If you're looking for better-than-average Italian food, this is your place. Great cheese plate and good pastas. We went for a birthday, however, and they did nothing to make the occasion stand out. No candles, no dessert on the house, no elements that would make the occasion memorable. We expected more.
Went to Acqua Al 2 for restaurant week and was disappointed in the menu. The only two red meat entrees are upcharged 10.00. Portion for the Fish option was Rediculously small. Salads were skimpy as well. I understand the cost is good at 35.00 but you can do better with the menu selection for restaurant week!
Everything was excellent! We love Acqua Al 2, and it was a perfect experience to celebrate my husband’s birthday!
Ido was fantastic! Filet & Ribeye were outstanding. Pasta tasting was plentiful
Boyfriend and old boss. Enjoyed not being rushed after we were done. All of the food delicious and beautifully presented. My ragu was fabulous as was the Greek salad. So many good options. Hope to go back soon. Just a bit pricy but that’s normal for this type of meal and service. Oh - and they have very good wine :)
Celebrated my birthday here & it’s as close to teleporting to Italy that I have found! I studied abroad in Florence where the original is & it makes me feel like I’m around the corner from the Duomo or could catch a train to Venice after- both in experience and quality. The Gnocchi is a MUST.
Nothing but good to say about this place. Was recommended to me by someone and loved it. I try to go Whenever I’m in DC For business. Friendly and professional as soon as you walk through the door. Food is excellent and the price is right.
I was really excited to go to Acqua2 on a friends recommendation. It was a good solid restaurant, but lacked the flavor I enjoy in top end Italian restaurants. The desserts were the best part and I would say they were very good.
Absolutely solid for almost any occasion.
My husband and I have been wanting to do dinner here for a while and we finally made it. Let’s just say it did not disappoint. The service was wonderful, and the food was even better. We did the salad tasting, as well as the vegetarian pasta tasting and steak. It was all amazing. I’d highly recommend this place for a date night or special occasion. They have great wine selections as well.
Excellent dinner! All three entrees were outstanding: a fabulous veal chop; a filet mignon with balsamic reduction that was prepared exactly as ordered; and a ribeye steak teaming with flavor. Appetizers and the dessert plate were mouth watering. Professional service and warm ambience completed the great experience.
Positively delicious....every single thing our group of four ordered. Pasta sampler. Filet sampler. The steak Florentine for 2 was to die for! Cannot wait to go back!!
I’ve had cocktails here and can definitely recommend them for that. However, my experience eating there was not good. The food was fine (nothing special, honestly) but the service ruined the meal. I had made reservations (not needed early in the evening on a Saturday) and was given a seat for myself and my guest in the very back of the restaurant, literally in the middle of where the servers were going back and forth to take care of their business, even though there was plenty of seating elsewhere where we would not have felt so in-the-way and unwelcome. To top it off, we were then joined by 2 families with crying children. Not the families’ faults, but especially with a reservation I think we should have been offered something other than the equivalent of the kids’ table. What really soured the experience, though, was our server. We had never had dinner there and were enjoying chatting and looking through the menu but felt rushed the entire time—multiple times he asked if we were ready, and fairly aggressively. I’ve never felt so rushed in a restaurant, especially a half-empty Italian restaurant. He was also very rude to the busboy who had come to kindly refill our waters and watched me like a hawk while I was completing my bill. I’ll return for the bar but not to eat.
Everything about this place is fantastic. The ambiance, the food, the service, could not have been better. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and provided excellent recommendations. The food was spectacular and very authentic - if you’re looking for a true Italian experience come here.
I LOVED this restaurant! The reason for my 4 stars is because I ordered chicken breast, and I unfortunately had to send it for some extra time in the oven. When I first cut into it, it was very pink and underdone. I love a good medium-rare steak, but chicken has to be cooked through or it can make people sick. Once I brought it up to our waiter, he promptly took it back to the kitchen, and then shortly returned with it perfectly cooked.
My daughter picked this place as choice# 1 to celebrate with my wife our 33rd year anniversary. The food was really great and the service outstanding, we had a great time.
I love their stake and pasta menu. I ordered the course menu. Food is tasty and the price is reasonable.
One of my favorite DC restaurants (and Florence!). We were here New Year’s Eve and had a wonderful time - and looked like everyone else did as well. Food and service were exceptional as always.
The New Year's Eve pre-fix dinner was nice- all the food was done very well and beautifully served. Our waiter was excellent. The only down side was that we felt a little rushed; one of our courses came while we were still eating our current one.
Otherwise, would definitely go back to try some of their Italian specialties. Very atmosphere!
Excellent restaurant, one of our regular staples
Acqua al Due is still one of my favorites in DC and it certainly did not disappoint. I wish I had known about the set menu for NYE, but it was still wonderful!
Absolutely amazing food!
Great place! Fantastic food
Excellent, had a problem with a bottle of wine and they made it all good with a replacement. Excellent food and ambiance. Nice bar for drinks ahead of time. I will be back!
Wonderful food and great service! Spinach ball appetizer is outstanding.
Delicious. Cozy. Great spot for a date or a family meal, as well.
