Acqua Al 2
Lovely outdoor dining and very rich flavors. Our server was all but absent and was the antithesis of good service when present. The only down side of the experience, too bad that can make or break the whole deal!
The mushroom panini was delicious -- as was the carrot soup. Our server was prompt and attentive. We all enjoyed a birthday lunch very much.
We live in the neighborhood and stop going to Acqua al duae ca. three years ago because the kitchen was not Italian and not very good. We decided to give the kitchen another chance. It had not improved. Spagetti al vongole tasted more like salt than clams. Fussuli with artichokes had far too much cheese. The Buratta starter was OK if not great. I wish they were better. I love authentic Italian food and do not have a restaurant on Capitol Hill that serves it.
I just love this place. Great food, great service and great atmosphere! Thank you for staying so consistent.
Note: the wine list is great as well!
Wonderful food and friendly, attentive service. Loved the October specials!
I love Acqua Al 2- My husband and I attend for every event we can (if there's a table available.) The service is outstanding and the food is even better. It's a little noisy in there so you may need to speak up when talking at the table- but it doesn't really matter because once the food gets there you won't be speaking- it's THAT good. Try the blueberry steak! It's one of the best things I've eaten in my entire life.
The food was good, but the service was absolutely atrocious. I’m not sure if the waiter was trying to emulate the European way with no niceties, no table touches, and never cracking a smile but it didn’t work. Really put a damper on what could’ve been a lovely meal.
As always the food was exceptional. Shariff was our waiter and took such good care of us.
I had the best birthday dinner at Acqua al 2. If I am comparing it to the original in Florence, the details made me feel like I was in Italy. From the traditional unsalted bread, the paper placemats, and the plates on the wall- everything was perfect. The food was amazing as well. We split the cheese and charcuterie platter, and clam linguine and balsamic steak. For dessert we had the hazelnut semi frozen dish. Again, everything was perfect. I will definitely be back.
Very authentic Italian food!! Always a good time!
From out of town, but whenever we come to DC we make sure to eat here. Food and wine are very good. This time we had the steak and the herbed chicken. Both delicious.. Our server Sharif was outstanding. All in all, a very nice evening.
I usually LOVE this restaurant. Great food and atmosphere, but this last time we had horrible service. We waited about 30 minutes before someone approached our table to welcome us and take drink orders. Then it was another 30+ minutes before anyone returned, a different person, and took drink orders again. It took a long time for drinks to come from there. Then we ended we waited for the check for quite some time and finally had to get up and ask for it.
Food was excellent. But we felt rushed. Also restaurant is extremely loud so conversation was difficult. Last, we ordered 1 take out meal (pasta) to bring back to our hotel to a member of our party who wasn’t feeling well and it came with no bread, cheese or utensils- wth?!
Fun and cute with delicious steaks. Recommend the first steak in the cream sauce, asparagus, spinach, and the chocolate mousse and lemon custard.
Maybe the most authentic Italian restaurant in DC. I have only been to Italy once, but this meal transported me there. I swear there is an old Italian grandma in the kitchen making this stuff. The staff was kind and attentive and worked well as a team. The vegetarian pasta tasting menu was a great deal and very delicious, although there was a little bit of a wait between a few dishes. I took my parents and they were very impressed. Plus it has a great location right across the street from Eastern Market.
Brunch menu was not very extensive and unimaginative. Although the restaurant wasn’t crowded, service was slow.
Going to be honest the Washington location doesn’t hold a candle to the Florence Italy one. Our service was sporadic. The food was fine but nothing special.
Wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the door. The food was reasonably priced and the wine selection is abundant. The waitress was engaging and informative. We would highly recommend Acqua.
Always the best.
The food was amazing- but it’s not a romantic location. It’s bright and the service staff are mediocre.
Really a great date-night spot. Super-cute restaurant with authentic good. The wine list was great, with lots of options. We loved the tuna tartar and the burrata apps. Steak was great as was the pasta dish. Can't wait to go back!
The food was incredible — hard to beat — but unfortunately, the restaurant lost our orders and our dinner lasted almost 3 hours as a result. Our waiter was great about it and the manager compensated us with some free wine. Although the food was delicious, the long wait was a bit of a bummer. I will definitely be back and hopefully it’ll be quicker.
The burrata is a must, and you cannot go wrong with any pasta dish
Salads were very plain for 11 bucks nothing to write home about. Fish was very tasty. All and All just Okay
Delicious food, excellent service. We went for a bachelorette and they surprised us with lemoncello after our meal! So sweet!
Carpaccio was a little over chilled and needed shaved Parmesan. Otherwise delicious. Server was nice but seemed to pay less attention to me as a single female than other diners who were couples. Overall very satisfied.
This place is fantastic. But both our pastas arrived and they were not very hot (almost left out for a bit too long). Been here many times and this is a first
Wonderful dinner!! Atmosphere was charming, food delicious (especially dessert) and service exemplary!!
The waitress was nice and suggested a watermelon salad which was good. I ordered pasta and it was so salty that every bite I cringed. It seemed the waitress got busy with other tables and didn’t check on me until I had eaten part of the pasta. I boxed up the rest but threw it away. I was so thirsty from all of the salt and really regretted going to this restaurant.
Worst dining experience so far.
I’ve been in the one in Firenze many years ago and I wanted to repeat that good moment from my past. I’ve never been so deceived!
Their “assaggio di primi”, their “specialità”, was a bad joke! Disgusting! Store bought dry pasta, undercooked lumpy “gnocchi” and lousy sauces; my ten year old daughter has done a better job.
Save yourself from a disappointment, don’t go there!
My husband and I loved Acqua Al 2! We ordered a bottle of wine based on our waiter’s recommendation - it was the perfect red to accompany our meal & well priced. Everyone who passed our table would stop to ensure our glasses were filled and our meal was to our liking. We each ordered a pasta entree and shared the trio of steaks. We finished with the hazelnut crunch bar for dessert. You can’t go wrong with anything you order off their menu! We will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely date night!
Awesome food closet place to Italy I’ve found in the city
We did the tasting of the five vegetarian pastas and one of the NY strips. Two of the five pasta dishes were really good. The strip was delicious.
I went to the original restaurant in Florence Italy. So glad there is one state side to enjoy. The food is AMAZING!!! Get the trio salad, trio pasta and trio steak. You won’t regret it.
Was in town for brothers wedding. Was given recommendation from good friend to eat here. May have been the best dinning out food I have ever had. Calling it restaurant food would be and insult to this place.
I LOVE ACQUA AL 2!
We loved it!!!! Special experience with exceptional service, excellent food, and phenomenal ambiance. My fifth time there and I’ll be back next time I’m in town. Thank you AA2!!!!
Wonderful experience, as always!
Our server, Anastasia, was fantastic and truly made a memorable experience for our group. We had a wonderful time with great food and vino!
My husband and I had the best meal here! Our children have been to this location and the one in Florence. They raved about it and now we know why! The food was outstanding! The blueberry steak was phenomenal! The pasta sampler platter... out of this world! The wine was lovely. What made this meal even more special was our beautiful waitress Amirah. She was so knowledgeable and professional. She gave us great recommendations and was so friendly. She made our special night even more memorable! We’ll be back next time we’re in town. 5 stars for sure.
