About Adam's Café
Run by Abdel and Frances Boukraa – he hailing from Djerba, Tunisia, she English born and bred – Adam’s Café is a thriving family affair which has grown over the years to become one of Shepherds Bush’s most popular restaurants. A café by day and a restaurant serving North African cuisine by night, Adam’s Café is a bustling local hub, informal and authentic, decorated in mosaics and cheerful colours. It may serve the biggest and best breakfast on Askew Road but this is no greasy spoon. Visit in the evening and find yourself greeted by the spice infused aromas of Tunisia and Morocco. The menu consists simply of couscous dishes alongside grills and tagines, each based precisely on Abdel’s experience of home cooking. You really won’t find a more authentic taste of North Africa in the capital.

Adam's Café Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful Tunisian and Moroccan food, exquisite in taste and beautifully served. We had unforgettable dishes such as chicken pastilla, brik au thon with tuna and potato encasing a soft molten egg and perched on a lemon which one can squeeze onto the brik, couscous Royale and a delicious lamb and prune tagine. The 2-dish Menu Gourmet is excellent value.
Gorgeous Mediterranean food, genuinely spoiled for choice. A variety of their starters and mains were ordered and each one was thoroughly enjoyed.
Calling it a cafe doesn't do it justice, a lovely evening meal on a special occasion can be had here (and would be reccomended!).
Service was wonderful and friendly too.
I go to Adam's cafe fairly often and have never been disappointed. The service is always excellent and friendly and the food is superb. Their tagines are to die for and it is hard to make up ones's mind about any of the starters as they are all delicious. The portions are generous and the wine list is varied and interesting. Long have they been going and long may they continue.
Great authentic Tunisian meal in a very relaxed and romantic candle light atmosphere. The fish soup as a starter was packed full of sea flavour. The tagines were very succulent. And the almond tart to finish off with was a real treat for the senses. Attentive and personal service, will be back!
Excellent food and service, the bread and meatballs to share are a great idea. Starters were delicious and our main meals of chicken tagine and cous cous royale were fab. The BYO policy and pricing is perfect for couples like us who like different wines eg red for my wife and white for me. Overall fantastic experience and pricing was superb value.
A lovely neighbourhood eatery which swaps its outstanding daytime breakfast/brunch/lunch menu for a more exotic North African one in the evenings. This switch works really well and the very high standard of food, both in its preparation and presentation, is maintained throughout. The welcome is very warm and the service friendly and prompt. It is also wonderfully informal making the diner feel very relaxed, but never ignored. Thank you !
First review, far from first meal at Adams. We have become regulars over the past year or so and Frances and Abdul can pretty well predict our choices! Lovely people, they serve lovely food in a quiet, intimate atmosphere. It is noticeable how many diners are "old friends". Heartily recommended.
I have been dining at Adam's Café for over 20 years. In all that time, I have never experienced service that was anything less than polite and efficient, and I have never had food and drink that were anything less than good to excellent.
My favourites: to begin, the grilled sardines; as a main course: the mixed grill with rice and garlic spinach; as a dessert, the orange, walnut, and date salad; and to round things off, mint tea with pine kernels.
The full couscous is exceedingly fine.
Portions are generous, so don't be surprised if you find yourself struggling.
Good for a quite meal, e.g. a date or a small group of friends (the layout means that a table for six people is about as much as can be handled).
Not good for wheelchair users and others with moderate to severe mobility problems (no disabled access + the toilets involve stairs). However, Adam's Café does offer a takeaway service through Deliveroo, which may be an alternative way of sampling the eatery's excellent goodies.
A small, quiet, friendly, well-run restaurant of which the quality of food, drink, and service would put grander establishments to shame.
I came here for date night with my boyfriend. I was very glad we booked as it's a small place and on a Friday evening, the tables fill up.
I've spent time in Morocco and so picked my favourite dish from the trip: lamb tagine with prunes. It was heavenly, I would highly recommend it
Adam's Cafe went one step further than other North African restaurants I have been to by offering a decent selection of mainly European desserts. We both went for the tarte au citron- perfect way to finish a meal!
Went based on the cuisine style and good reviews. I had the Gargoulette Tunisienne served in an individual tagine. I cook a lot myself with fresh herbs and spices including traditional Indian and Greek, and I was absolutely blown away by the quality and flavours - three days later I'm still dreaming about it.
We have been here once before and knew it was lovely, and we weren't disappointed! It's very cosy with a lovely atmosphere and you feel as if you have discovered a local secret. Food is simply fantastic and good value (complementary appetizers!) And the service is polite and attentive. Could not recommend more!
