Afternoon Tea @1449 Restaurant, Bar & Grill - Crowne Plaza
Myself and my friend went for Afternoon tea at the Crowne Plaza Basingstoke on Sunday 29th September.
We walked into the hotel which i have not been too since it has become the Crowne Plaza and has been refurbished. The hotel itself was stylish and smart and looks a lot better inside than out.
First impressions of the service wasnt great the reason being is when i went to check in they had no booking under my name even though i had email confirmation of the date and time of my booking, they said that it wasnt put in their diary so organisation could be a bit better. Luckily as the restaurant was completely empty they managed to squeeze us in!! I would like to know what they would of done if they were fully booked on that day would they have turned us away? I'm hoping not as it was a mistake made on their part and not mine.
After that drama was over we had a very pleasant Afternoon tea with Prosecco- it was definitely worth the money.
This is not the hotels fault but i would of liked a few more people to have been around to create an atmosphere as it was just myself and my friend in a room by ourself.
My friends and I have had afternoon tea several times at Crowne Plaza. Whilst it was enjoyable we all commented that it wasn't as good as before. The sandwiches were a little boring and there seemed to be less scones and cakes. We used a Groupon deal, which made it good value but I would have been disappointed if I'd paid full price.
A nice way to have an afternoon tea. Plenty of food and we didn't need dinner.
Took my husband for Afternoon Tea and it was just perfect. Got a wonderful table near the window, friendly staff and quiet. Will definitely return
A lovely venue with very polite friendly staff. The afternoon tea was very good value for money and we will be returning.
We've been for afternoon tea many times over the years as it's convenient for meeting up with friends. The staff have always been friendly and attentive but not overly so, which is nice when you're trying to catch up with friends. The afternoon tea contents are fine for us - not posh but great value for money with a Groupon deal.
I’d wouldn’t particularly recommend it wasn’t amazing really!
Staff were friendly but over attentive! Kept interrupting us every 5 minutes!
As for opentable to book, never again!
Our table hadn’t been booked at all it was lucky they could fit us in!
Lovely setting food good staff very helpful and attentive
Last minute booking so they were not expecting us. We didn’t use the groupon code but didn’t seem to get anything more for full price. Cakes had to be shared between us and there are many other afternoon tea settings in the area which offer more for your money so I wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.
Cannot fault the excellent food and service on the day - unfortunately the admin side leading up to it made the experience less enjoyable and more stressful than it should have been for me hence only 3 stars awarded for service. If you don't need to pay beforehand then the afternoon tea at the Crown Plaza is a must.
Excellent Food. Lovely ambience. Presentation was great. Staff very attentive and polite. Prosecco Tea for 2 was a great gift for my 60th Birthday.
Amazing place 2nd time of going just half way point for myself and best mate to meet will defently keep going back for a treat
