Afternoon Tea
Grade II listed, our 18th century lodge is full of character and set back along a meandering drive, amongst eight acres of beautiful gardens. From an afternoon on the terrace, in the Orangery or in the Baronial Hall with oak-panelling, grand chandeliers and large-light spilling windows, we provide the perfect setting for enjoying afternoon tea – with a delightful savoury tier, freshly baked scones, accompanied by preserves and brightly coloured sweets to top of your three-tiered stand.

It was a nice setting although quite expensive for what you got and because it was only us in the restaurant didn’t see staff to ask for more tea.

This was our third visit at Bartley lodge having afternoon tea. I can’t fault the first two visits but the last visit (Sunday 4th jan 2020) will probably be the last. The food wasn’t great, didn’t taste fresh, the sandwiches a little dry and the cakes were scruffy looking and the choice not good. Also the cream and preserves that were already on the table when we arrived were warm and looked as if it had been sat out for some time? The waitress did apologise and change these for us. Definitely not worth the price. It’s disappointing as this was a gift to my mum and like I said the first few visits were great, which is why I’ve returned, I’m guessing it’s not the same chef?,. We weren’t sat in a picturesque setting or nice part of the hotel which I guess was due to a wedding that was also going on at the time, we were sat in a small side area which was cramped and had very busy guest traffic from the wedding which was loud. Bartley lodge please take these small afternoon tea bookings into consideration when you have big events booked at the same time, if you can’t offer a nice setting and service then maybe not take these bookings at all?!. Remember we’re paid customers too.
