Afternoon Tea at Caffe Concerto - 29/31 Piccadilly
I booked easily for an Afternoon Tea..
Even if it didn't follow the classic recipes that the UK etiquette requires (no traditional little sandwiches and pastries as wonderful mousses rather than the traditional UK tea cakes/biscuits) all the experience has been highly enjoyable and I will definitively recommend it anyway (4stars on 5 for the Afternoon High tea). The waiters were courteous and paying continuous attention that everything was going well, they gave us room and time to decide and chat and so everything has been really enjoyable. The level of patisserie is HIGH so it worths for sure to go and try even outside the strict idea of the Afternoon Tea. I saw gorgeous salads cause they work as a whole restaurant not only as Tea Saloon, so I will go back exploring the variety of offer as Restaurant as well, being sure on the quality of the product used and how they prepare it..there is the technique for sure! 5 stars to the Picadilly one and overall to all this chain!
Staff were very inattentive, rude and not bothered. They need more training on how to treat customers. When I arrive I gave a polite Hello and said I had a booking for 2 people. Instead of getting some greetings I was just rudely and strangely asked : DID YOU BOOK HERE? Well, of course, that's why I'm here. I used to love your salads but unfortunately now they're well below average. Not coming back gain.
We were treated kindly and efficiently at a busy time on a Saturday. Staff were well dressed, clean and very friendly. Highly recommended. It is our second visit this year!
The food was not very good and very expensive (£4 for a cup of tea!), the staff were not helpful or unfriendly, and the restaurant was quite small and airless!
I had gluten free pasta and it wasn't very nice. The serving staff were a bit bizarre too. Really not impressed,
This was a first experience and it was fine. I had the chicken escalope and it was just a bit too dry/overcooked. The place itself was very nice and the members of staff who served us were very pleasant and helpful. I would go there again.
At first glance Caffe Concerto looks elegant and upper-class. The red and gold is a real nice touch. Its nice and cosy and is a great spot to catch up with a friend.
However, I found the staff unfriendly and unwelcoming. The restaurant was also grubby on closer inspection. The seats were stained and my saucer had stained tea marks on it before I even had my tea.
The afternoon tea was standard. The sandwhiches were generous portion and the scones were lovely. The various pastries on top were only serves for one, so we found ourselves splitting little tarts to share.
Overall, get bubblier staff and give the place a good cleaning!
Terrible assistance to customers, it made all terrible.
The staff were efficient and polite. The afternoon tea was delicious but we would have liked to be asked what sandwiches we wanted due to allergy issues. This was a gift so we could not mention it while booking. Overall an enjoyable experience.
My daughter and I enjoyed our visit to the cafe but felt there was room for improvement. The array of cakes looks delicious and the décor and surroundings are charming. After a lovely welcome our waiter didn't listen when we requested no fish in our sandwiches and duly brought us fish which had to be returned. Some of our sandwiches weren't as fresh as others. The cakes and scones were gorgeous. A jug of hot water to go with the tiny teapot would have been helpful. Tables are a little close for comfort meaning that when the folk on the neighbouring table want to visit the loo, they brush past your cake plates ... not so nice. I would go again, but for a special occasion, I'd probably choose elsewhere. A lovely afternoon with a Wowcher deal!
After a very frosty welcome from a waiter or manager who turned out to be perfectly all right, my group of four were served with a lovely afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones with cream and jam followed with delicious cakes. The ambience is not as good as some of the London hotels but the bill, at less the £20 per head, somewhat lower!
Our waitress was rude, ruined our experience totally! We got help from another waitress Elaina who was absolutely brilliant it’s a shame we didnt have her through the whole experience! As soon as our waitress sat us down she was awful would not go back because of her! She could not be bothered in helping us at all huffing and puffing rolling eyes avoiding us when we where trying to get attention just absolutely awful
Very pleased with service and afternoon tea itself . Only let down.... my friend & I hadn't eaten all the cakes supplied. I asked a waitress if she could pack everything except last sandwich into a box. This was duly done . However , on arriving home I discovered that all the scones were missing 😢
Average at best. food and service were not special.
It is birthday occasion.
Our initial afternoon tea experience was well underway until we encounter a waiter. We ask him to take & pack the remainder cakes on the tray. However, the waiter misheard or misunderstood that he took the tray and never came back.
We ask the waiter, where is our box of the remaining cakes , He replied, we ask him to removed it & unapologetic.
We don’t like to make a scene. So we left disappointed & feeling miserable.
We hope they will train their staff better when it comes to customer service.
An excellent place for dessert lovers and couples of course!!!!!
As it was my first time in London for holidays with my fiance, our visit at Concerto Cafe was was great!!!
I strongly recommend it!!!! :)
Booking a table for later than 17.30 was not possible, though it was half empty later. We were told "we don't accept bookings."
Service was inefficient, inattentive and unpleasant. Food less than mediocre. Definately not to be repeated
Waiters were not welcoming. We booked online and arrived 30 minutes early and asked if it was okay. The waiter asked if we were late and I think he was assuming that we were someone else. I told him I booked an afternoon the for three peopl and he came to the table after we sat to ask if we were very hungry ?? I said that we would like to be served what it's normally served on the afternoon tea and his reaction was unapologetic and said "okay"
We got the impression that the staff didn't want be there except for one female waitres that was very pleasant and smiley.
One of the waiters went to the bar which is open and started eating from a plate where everybody could see.
It wasn't the first time my mother had afternoon tea as she had never been in the UK before and I believe her experience could have been a lot better if the service standards of Caffe Concerto - Picadilly, were higher and better managed.
Great location - very close to Piccadilly Circus and Green Park.
It's very business so service was slightly slow.
Not many cakes selection when compared to other branches.
We had afternoon tea which was nice enough but the sandwiches were abit too firm (as in were obviously not made fresh) and the scones were very hard. We had to send some back to be replaced. The cakes were nice enough. Overall it was an ok experience but would not go back
the staff were just tired, couldn't be bothered, forgot our water and their food was a bit uncooked as well, I have been to other branches of this cafe and its great but this one is the worst possibly in london
the food was good, the only annoying thing is that different branches have different menus, I wanted burger but this branch wasnt doing steak,
the staff could be more attentive I guess but all an all good
