Afternoon Tea at Caffe Concerto - 45 Haymarket
Compared to the branch in High Street Kensington I felt that this venue needed some TLC. A little bit dated compared to what I am normally used to going to.
We loved the food and the beautiful decor with the upstairs Japanese seating area.
Service was excellent and food delicious. Will definitely come again
The service was amazing and they were super friendly.
Lovely afternoon tea on Easter Saturday. Staff were very attentive and helpful. My friend is veggie and she had a great sandwich selection which is often poor with an afternoon tea. Lots of food (more than we could eat despite not having lunch), tea in abundance and good service. Was really impressed
Excellent tea for the price. Waiting staff were very accommodating and helpful.
Would visit again.
It was lovely as usual ☺️
Very professional and lovely staff. Selection cakes, scones and desserts was spot on. Tea and Prosecco was lovely
The environment was nice too, would come again 😁
Friendly members of staff with eye on detail. Our group of 4 was pleasantly received and treated with care. Afternoon Tea selection very tasty with variety of treats and very fresh. The ambience was warm and nicely decorated. Service was very well and what made the difference was when my friend (who was our guest) asked for the bill Ahmed politely replied that the bill is handed to the host for settlement. This treatment made the difference.
On arrival it appeared that they had no knowledge of our reservation. It was just lucky that a table for 4 was available as it was packed. All tables seemed very close to each other which is not ideal. Most afternoon teas include unlimited tea but you are charged £4 for each extra cup which is extortionate for a tea bag and hot water.
Otherwise the food was acceptable
Met friends for lunch. Plenty of room and very accomodating for my friends pram though no actual baby changing facilities. Service was spot on. Attentive but not intrusive. Food was delicious
Upon arrival I was stopped prior to entering the restaurant by a waitress so I said I had a table booked (I usually expect to at least enter the premises). I was given a table of my choice. The service was terribly slow, it took over half an hour to bring a cup of coffee and we were not asked for a food order for over 45 minutes by which time it was too late to order given that we had a later appointment. We tried to pay for our drinks at the bar but were told we would have to wait for a bill at our table, which took over 20 minutes to arrive. We wanted to leave so I paid cash at the bar. The staff member apologised for the poor service as there were only two of them working.
I've eaten in many branches of Caffe Concerto before, Westfield London, Piccadilly, Bond Street, One New Change all multiple times and this was my second time at this branch. I forgave the poor service the first time as it was late on a Saturday but at 6pm on a Thursday evening I expect better than this. It's a pity because it brings down the reputation of the company as a whole.
Was disappointed to be asked to pay in full for the DISCRETIONARY gratuity charge. (Bill was £63 plus discretionary gratuity making £71.67, we left £70 and was asked to pay the further £1.67). Was also not offered my change when I paid the extra requested money. I wouldn't mind but the service had been incredibly poor!
Well placed and easy to find , very close to Piccadilly Circus. Not much choice for dinner as they are geared up for Afternoon Tea, however the quality and portion size was very good.
Table was pre-booked online but when the first two guests arrived, one of whom was frail and elderly, the restaurant staff were unaware of the reservation and the whole arrival experience at the restaurant was very disorganised, with the first two guests having to be moved from table to table.
When the bill arrived we had been charged for double measures rather than single in the gin and tonics that had been ordered.
Good food and glam ambience
The restaurant was fine but 'OPEN TABLE' reservations are a shambles. I booked for lunch but 'OPEN TABLE' advised I was booked in for afternoon tea. 'Open table' did not advise the restaurant I was booked, neither for lunch nor afternoon tea.
Would not use 'OPEN TABLE' again.
Good food but a bit pricey given the cafe environment. Service was superb. Staff very attentive.
Tables were a bit close to each other.
Personally I did not enjoy the high tea experience. The bread was old. The fillings in the bread was bland. The scones was really dry and I tried one of the desserts, but it wasn’t very tasty either. The tea which was served was really good even though my tea pot was smeared with jam. We had to request clean plates as the plates the waiter gave us were dirty. The manager was very unfriendly and we felt very rushed. The tables are way too close together. When we tried to move the between the tables next to us, cutlery etc. was bumped off because of the tiny little space we had to squeeze through.
A lovely Afternoon Tea with friends. Staff were pleasant and food swiftly served.
service was nice , nice staff .
However quality of food served is rather industrial and not so good (scones and macaroons very dry )
maybe it was because of the lack of air-con but there was a lot of flies around of table and around the food which was not hygienic and annoying .
Hot drinks such as the tea or coffee was not bottomless which is quite unpleasant and surprising for an afternoon tea .
Nice location and nice staff .
OMG the most AMAZING Black Forest gateau. Seriously. Hamamamamamaaaaaa.
Good coffee too... and the scones were excellent. But that Black Forest gateau... invaded my dreams, I tell you!
Very pleasant meal and location with an old friend I seldom get to see. Will use it again for similar occasions.
When we arrived there was only another couple in the restaurant yet we were shown to a dirty table and had to wait for it to be cleaned!!! We had booked afternoon tea, yet were handed menus and had to wait another 10 minutes for the waitress to come back and ask us what we wanted.
When the afternoon tea arrived it looked lovely. Looks can be deceptive.
The bread on half the sandwiches was hard and dry as if it had been left out in the sun.
The cream of the cakes was also hard as if they had been made days ago.
The only decent food item was the scones.
From what I could see there was only 2 waiting staff on duty and they were more concerned in serving the customers who were sitting outside, so couldn't even get someones attention to complain.
Left the money on the table in the end and walked out .
Would not recommend this place to anyone wanting afternoon tea, go to Browns or patisserie valerie instead.
Great food! really enjoyed the afternoon tea with my sister. I only wish the staff would put in a little bit more effort. they all looked like they didnt want to be there and did not care.
