Afternoon Tea at Caffe Concerto - Northumberland Av
HORRIBLE! They told me I made my reservations too late and they almost didn’t sit us, even though there were so many tables open. Service wasn’t great as well. When I asked for the check they made it seem like I was asking too much out of them. Do NOT go here.
Slow in acknowledging and there seemed to be no booking system in place, I had to prompt the manager to ensure the booking was verified on Opentable. Although food was good one plate was incorrect and observed to be returned for rectification. This resulted in one plate being lukewarm whilst the other was hot. When challenged the manager denied this, but subsequently our server confirmed this. Service charge was therefore deducted, at our request, from the bill.
Was a little sceptical after reading other reviews but gave it a try regardless. Staff a little abrupt and a smile would have gone a long way. It felt like some of the staff were new and had to check everything with other staff members.
Decor a little strange. At seating level it’s looks lovely but when your eyes go above the panelling you see bare dirty walls and pipework.
Food was mediocre. Had to ask for extra water in what must be the smallest tea pot in the world. Refills of sandwiches etc not offered but there was enough to fill you up if you aren’t very hungry. You get what you pay for. If you’re after the full afternoon tea experience then I’d strongly recommend you book something a little more up market. Ambiance is everything and sadly this venue comes up a little short.
Can not believe they only give you 1 small cup of tea with afternoon tea, they want to charge you for another cup ???
Lovely food and atmosphere. However our drinks arrived after our food came, and I was very disappointed to see they all came with plastic straws, which are not recyclable and can harm marine life. It would be wonderful if this restaurant changed this like other restaurants are doing, then I would be more than happy to return.
Lovely place I will definitely recommend this place
We had afternoon tea. Family of four. Returning guests.
Everything for OK but some of the cake was lacking taste. Not so unusual but a pity.
We got their on a busy Sunday afternoon. And the restaurant was packed and a little chaotic.
Two or three staff asked if we waiting for a table. Food was served before bubbles and tea.
But all in all OK and we will probable be back.
Generally everything was good but our waitress was, bluntly said, just rude. It did ruin our experience especially at the end. Some other guests has the same problem. We will definitely not come back to that particular cafe.
A good value for money deal . Good choice of foods but would have liked a choice of teas.
We had a fabulous lunch on Saturday and the choice and quality were superb. The food came quickly, the staff efficient - all really lovely. And on top of that the most gorgeous cakes which we couldn't resist, the hardest thing was choosing which cakes to get..
Unfortunately the cafe team hadn’t received our booking although I had received confirmation. Therefore they hadn’t been able to set the table up.
We were able to work around that and had a successful celebration
Very welcoming and attentive staff who allowed for a late guest, good came quickly and was very tasty
Honestly, kinda gross. Tea sandwiches stale. Scones stale. Teabags in little metal 'diner' pots. I can't resist sweets or savorys when it comes to tea and left almost everything on the plate. So sorry to report. Definitely in need of some attention.
