Afternoon Tea at Caffe Concerto - Shaftsbury Av
There was no sign on the restaurant that said they were closed. When I showed up, I saw that the venue had been closed down and went somewhere else. Therefore I'd recommend going to a Caffe Concerto, but maybe not this exact location.
Nice place to have afternoon tea
Staff was polite
Selections could have been more
Overall I would recommend
The staff made sure me and my friends were comfortable and that we liked our spot. They also gave us a bit more time to wait for one friend who came in late. They're very friendly.
Great service and loved the food. Would definitely recommend
food was excellent, service was good. My friend was vegetarian, she was happy about it too
We were looking for a place to have afternoon tea in central London and this was perfect! The tea was delicious and the presentation was on point
The customer service was very good and they tended to us quickly when we needed something. The small desserts and cakes were very tasty as well as the smoked salmon and cream cheese in brioche buns. I personally don’t like tea so they allowed me to have one cup of coffee of my choice (latte) with my afternoon tea. There were a couple of downsides such as the cleanliness of some of the cutlery and plates. My fork looked as though there was cake smears as if someone had used it and it had not been cleaned. My sisters plate was also not very clean looking. These were replaced quickly when asked to be changed though. I would also suggest that a bigger pot of clotted cream is supplied with the scones as there was only one small pot of clotted cream to be shared between two people. I believe most people who go for afternoon tea are probably clotted cream lovers so I highly suggest supplying much more than what was supplied! The bread was also very dry as if it had been left out for a while. Overall my experience was ok and couldn’t fault the customer service but I think a few changed would make it so much better!
My only complaint that out Groupon was meant to be for afternoon tea, optional Prosecco. When we asked for the Prosecco afterwards we were told it was only for afternoon tea, no Prosecco.
We arrived 5 minutes before our table was booked and were seated quickly. We ordered in the next 5 minutes - 35 minutes later we still didn't have our starter - which was a cold platter that simply needed serving on a plate. We complained and when it seemed that nothing was going to appear, we left the restaurant as we knew we didn't have enough time to eat and enjoy the meal. There were only 2 waitresses who were rushing around to take orders and also sell cakes from the counter. The woman next to us waited 30 minutes for a waffle with ice cream. we will never go there again for a pre-theatre meal and probably not at all.
Never been here before and was suitably impressed when I walked in. Spacious, light, attractive layout. Food was decent, though chicken was overcooked and dry. It was adequate so I didn't complain. My service was reasonable, with the exception of the bill taking a long time. There appeared to be only 2 staff on the floor. The man taking the orders was clearly under pressure. He had zero customer service skills - no smile, greeting, asking if things were ok.... I witnessed clients leaving because they were kept waiting at the door, one couple seated at a dirty table (cleared later), another pair kept waiting at least 15 mins once seated. Overall it was ok but I probably won't go back. I also felt it was expensive and can get better quality and service elsewhere.
I booked this venue for a small family reunion in London. I chose this venue amongst all because 4 years ago, me and my wife had a fantastic time after our Thriller musical show. The food and the service then was fantastic and we kept a good memory/experience of our time in the restaurant.
I am afraid, I cannot say the same about our experience this time around. I don't know if the management has changed but the experience was poor.
1) I don't think the menu on the day was the same as the one I saw on the website at time of booking
2) I was challenged by the supervisor when asking for the bottle of white wine to be ice cold. She was quite rude, albeit she tried to make up for it afterwards.
3) Whilst the desserts were nice, the main course was not up to standards and certainly not as I remember it the first time.
It's not my first time having afternoon tea there but 9n this ocation I am disappointed
Even though I made an online booking and had a copy of my reservation,
the restaurant said they had no record of my booking and that set the tone
for the whole evening
Food warm warm and dry
Prompt service and lovely food of massive proportions !! Thank you for making my daughters 16th so special
We had lunch and dinner and we had two really nice meals . The staff Chrissy and Kane were lovely.
And her 2 sisters
Booking with Open Table online was a problem for the staff and they hadn't reserved my table which caused delay, discomfort and problems with providing the food. Fortunately I had called in and was able to show my booking in their diary. They pulled it back and did their best. I heard them ask someone else about an Open Table booking with a problem. Don't let it put you off but to avoid disappointment give them a ring to confirm your booking.
Had to wait for table despite booking. My food never arrived even though we asked for it 3 times!! Lovely place but shocking service .
The waiter didn't smile once. We felt a nuisance for showing theatre tickets for our discount. The toilets were FILTHY. The sanitary bin was overflowing, the floor was covered in empty toilet paper rolls and it smelt. When we decided not to pay the discretionary service charge we were made to feel that WE were the rude ones
Service was really good and the food was delicious would definitely go there again
Staff had no record of our booking when we arrived and they weren’t very friendly. Told me that I’d probably booked the wrong restaurant when I hadn’t. Food was average, nothing special.
Food was staile it felt like coz we had a groupon it felt like we wasnt welcome
We had an pre theatre evening meal, not afternoon tea. The girls serving at the tables were very busy but polite and smiling the whole time. The food was very nice and well presented. There were vegan options on the menu.
We used a Groupon. There was a lot of food. Great location great service..
The food is very nice and the restaurAnt, very near the theatres
And a good price would recommend
Nice food and awesome cakes something for everyone. Only downside no disabled toilet I have bad knees but managed slowly up and downstairs however others may be unable to do so.
Great attentive service and first class food. Good value for money, and ideal for a pre theatre meal.
The person serving us was brilliant, helpful and really knowledgeable. An asset to the shop.
A nice venue with a aimable ambiance. Not too much noice considering that it is a busy spot. The afternoon tea was delicious. The stad very friendly. Overall a very nice experience😁
Convenient location opposite Guilgud theatre and lovely food.
Amazing afternoon tea and service. Was really nice to relax and not feel rushed or against the clock. Good quality and quantity of sandwiches and cakes.
Superb friends birthday celebration, staff most attentive - wonderful ambiance - thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
We like Caffe Concerto, not this branch though. They didn’t have a table for us, even though we booked, they had to move some people to accommodate us. The food was below average. The sandwiches on the afternoon tea were poor. Bland and cumbersome. The cakes were average but the Millionaires sandwich was dreadful. Service was unremarkable. Won’t recommend and won’t return. If you want afternoon tea, go somewhere better. Spoiled my daughters 16th Birthday celebrations. The tea was ok, but a teabag and not loose leaf, at an afternoon “tea” ???
Service was amazing, couldn't fault the food or atmosphere. Would visit again in a heartbeat.
We had lunch there. Food was excellent and large portions so we did not have room for their lovely cakes .
It was ok. You get what you pay for. The sandwiches were very basic and the scones were terrible. They were not homemade and were warmed up in the microwsve. By the time I went to eat mine it was really hard. The quality of food was not good. I also had grisel in my chicken sandwich. There were no brown bread options either. What I did enjoy was the Macarone cake filled with mango cream centre. The others were not great. The cold coffee drink option was also very good. Overall it was ok.
Lovely afternoon tea with a group of friends in a beautiful setting. Food was all nicely presented and tasted great. Plenty of it too. The restaurant was busy so it was difficult to attract the attention of the staff at times. The final bill was expensive as extra drinks came at a premium. I'd definitely return next time we're in London.
Excellent afternoon tea, staff exceptional, thoroughly enjoyed and will be returning soon
Excellent location close to theatres, good menu choices, good food and very good service even though very busy and apparent shortage of staff.
We had a lovely experience I took my mum for a treat before going to the theatre. She loved it. Great food.
Perfect place to meet pre theatre. Our 6pm booking was intended for a quick, pre theatre supper and we got exactly what we wanted. Friendly and efficient service, a good ambience, and a broad choice of dishes (including afternoon tea if we'd wanted). Delicious pasta, generous salads, and a wide range of other choices: salmon, fish and chips, meat and chicken dishes. Lots of smaller options if you didn't want a main course. And a one minute walk from the Apollo theatre. Ideal
