The staff were great and did all the y could to accomodate a fussy eater in our party. What we did have was very tasty, but I can't convince myself that it was worth £24 pounds. There was only 3 small finger sandwiches per person. The cakes were tasty but at least 2 would have been a traybake cut up, rather than individually baked so it was a bit pricey for what we got. Can't fault the setting or the staff though.
The scones on the afternoon tea were absolutely wonderful - warm and moist, and really delicious. There was a lovely Bakewell tart, but one small tart was cut into four so we had the tiniest piece imaginable - maybe they only had one left?
The sandwiches were quite nice - cheese and pickle, ham and mustard, and a mini bagel with cream cheese. All were very fresh. We were able to ask for mustard on the side. We had been told that we could e-mail ahead and ask to change the fillings as some of our group didn't like cheese/salmon. The restaurant was able to add egg to the platter. We got the impression that any changes were quite complex for them, so best if you like what's offered. A few more sandwiches would have been great but, as with many afternoon teas, there are always more desserts than sandwiches. We weren't offered more as you are in some places. Have to say the mini bagels were super cute.
Music too loud for us, and the lady serving wasn't too happy when we asked if it could be turned down.
Good value for money, and a good location. Not at all stuffy.
I was excited to try a new place for afternoon tea with my family however that excitement was short lived.
As there was a wedding on at the venue, it seemed staffing was short and we were an inconvenience. Our waitress was pleasant enough, minimal interaction.
Sandwich selection lacked the wow factor, cake selection was fair.
Fantastic afternoon tea at Cantley House Hotel. The sandwiches were really fresh, the scones were light and delicious, and there was a fantastic range of little sweet treats, all of which were very tasty. Great atmosphere and service from the staff.
It could only have been better if able to have a choice of coffee rather than just regular (e.g. a latte) without having to pay extra.
I will definitely book again though! Recommended.
The setting is lovely & very clean. The food was very nice and plentiful. I will definitely book again and highly recommend.
Delicious cream tea. Such a lovely afternoon thank you
It was lovely afternoon for my friends birthday, staff were so helpful.
Food was good (especially the scones), but the teapots were small so could only get 1-2 cups of tea out of it. Cups and saucers looked like the ones you get at a conference ie a bit basic (as was the afternoon tea food frame). Service was ok, to be hit with a 12.5% service charge didn’t feel like great value for money.
Me & my sister had a lovely afternoon tea sitting in the garden, the staff were friendly and welcoming and we will definitely return
I haven't visited Cantley House for an Afternoon Tea before, but we took my Mother-In-Law for her 89th birthday and it was a great success. The food was outstanding, and the staff were very helpful.
I would definitely recommend this venue for an Afternoon Tea .
Nice food but no table cloth and only paper serviettes/Napkins. For the price charged plus a service charge expected better surroundings
From first meeting Dianne at Hotel reception to all the staff at the tables we had an fabulous experience of the Sparkling Afternoon Tea last week. Booking was very easy and plenty of parking available. All the staff at the stables were very polite and helpful. They took into account dietary requirements and we had a very relaxing afternoon.
Thankyou all - we will book again.
A pleasant afternoon tea for a friends' Birthday. I felt the sandwich ends were a little dry, my wife thought it was OK! It was a lovely day and we had a good time, I find the fact that people can smoke as it's outside a pity, there was someone near us smoking and it seemed very strong. Service was OK but not outstanding, staff were sitting talking to friends (?) or speaking among themselves and not paying attention to purchasers.
We booked Afternoon Tea at Cantley to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, we were not disappointed, the staff were wry helpful and friendly, we were given a plate with Happy Anniversary written on it in Chocolate plus 4 strawberry truffles, so kind. We will definitely return 😁
Had the most gorgeous afternoon tea celebrating my mother’s birthday. As we are in December the menu has been given a slight festive feel which got us all feeling very Christmassy. A lovely day, great tea and lovely atmosphere
A really lovely afternoon tea at a very newly refurbed venue. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. We enjoyed the prosecco option too. Service was great.
I was not told it was Halloween afternoon tea. I do not celebrate Halloween
The tea pot was tiny and no too up offered
The afternoon tea was very small in relation to the price charged
Lovely afternoon tea and great service
Lovely garden which make perfect place to have arvo tea.
Lovely afternoon tea with a good selection of cakes and sandwiches. Service was a little slow.
Quite pricey but food was ok. Cream cheese on the salmon rolls was dry and cracked. Quite loud music with a beat that was too intrusive. Cakes and scones very tasty and service pleasant too
Lovely setting, very attentive staff and delicious food.
Good food and service. Nice seating and courtyard surroundings. One star off because of persistent wasp we eventually whacked with our wooden spoon table number 😂
Great cakes and sandwiches. Service was very good. We will definitely be back.
Last day of eat out to help out, so was busier than usual. Service however was shocking. Dirty table, no staff wearing PPE or making any effort to distance themselves from each other or customers. Afternoon tea food was very tasty though. Disappointed with the lack of atmosphere, and we had to ask for almost everything (table to be cleaned, milk for tea, bill took 15mins to arrive). Shame as we are regulars and it is usually our go to for special occasions. We did email rather than post a negative review, but 5 days later and we still haven’t had a reply.
Lovely afternoon - given our own private room as well!
It was lovely and relaxing! Would go back again! X
Milton's is an attractive part of the Cantley House Hotel, and you have the afternoon tea either outside in the newly done up courtyard or inside in the barn bar area. We were inside as it was a bit windy.
It was very pleasant and you got tea of your choice, I had Earl Grey, a glass of prosecco ( we chose the sparkling afternoon tea) a good selection of finger sandwiches, petite fours with carrot cake, and of course scones with cream and strawberry jam. Two scones each, one with fruit and one plain.
There is certainly enough food to fill you up and they were pretty tasty.
It was sometimes tricky to catch the waiters eye if we needed something but overall the service was good.
It was advertised at £25 per head but after service charge was included it came to £31.50 per head. We were there about 3 hours. Tea was bottomless and we had two lots but this was included in the price.
Had a lovely afternoon, afternoon tea was great!!
Superb food. All tasted delicious and seemed freshly made. Much too much for us to eat it all, but we happily took home a doggy bag!
Weather was a little drizzly, but manager moved an extra parasol over to shelter us.
We were a party of 8 (2 tables of 4) and it would have been nicer if the tables could have been in closer proximity to each other, but we managed.
A lovely afternoon. Thank you.
A very civilised and value for money afternoon tea in pleasant surroundings with attentive staff, a treat to savor and share with others.
Went for afternoon tea, only sandwich choice was coronation chicken or cheese and pickle, neither are a traditional afternoon tea sandwich. Ordered from main menu, all very heavy options for lunch in mid summer, no light options or salads. Won’t go back.
Service not great , no serviettes and we were not offered any more tea .
Food was average , not all home made
I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with our service. You should have been provided with more tea indeed and we always are happy to top it up. I can assure you that all our cakes ans scones are freshly made on site by our Pastry Chef. Perhaps next time you will have a better experience?
Lovely location. Eating in the courtyard garden on a beautiful sunny day
Thank you for your feedback. We look forward to seeing you back again soon.
The venue is ideal for Afternoon Tea and meeting friends the tables and area were clean in line with the Government instructions for Covid 19. The service was very good together with the food nothing was a problem for the staff. I would recommend the venue.
We had a lovely afternoon. The service was fantastic (think the lady said she usually does wedding coordination) the music was great. Reminded me of being on holiday in turkey
Food was fab
