A great experience having afternoon tea at the Corinthia, booked as a surprise for my wife and lived up to expectations. Staff were attentive without being overbearing and the food was delicious. Overall a great warm-up for Christmas.

We had a lovely time, enjoying the afternoon tea. We didn't get to complete it all as there were an abundance of options and so we took some away.
We would definitely recommend this to those who would like a quality afternoon tea experience in beautiful surroundings.

Although I enjoyed the afternoon tea I do feel that the layout was not as good as it could have been as I felt I was in a walkway and of course I was as people were walking back and forth past us all the time. I did find the leather armchairs and their sideways positioning quite uncomfortable most of the time as I couldn't sit right back and relax. Maybe that was because I am only 5' 2". I would have preferred being seated on one of the comfortable looking sofas instead in the middle area.

I would only recommend the tea if the occasion is a very special one as it was, in my opinion, extremely expensive, when comparing to other afternoon teas I have enjoyed elsewhere. I would recommend having the glass of bubbly not with the tea but rather go somewhere else afterwards where it will be cheaper and you can probably have 2 glasses each. However, the best thing was that we were not rushed in any way and spent way over our allotted 2 hour slot. It wasn't until we were brought the bill that we realised how long we had been there. Overall a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

We went for afternoon tea last Wednesday 5 December. The service was first class, friendly, and attentive, but not intrusive. The selection of sandwiches and pastries was fine, and if extras were required, no problem. The ambience, tableware and comfort were what one would expect of a top London hotel. The pianist played a nice selection of music, and not so loud that conversation was difficult.
The only criticism, is that the dining area is situated in the 'flight path' between the back entrance and reception. this resulted in people walking through continuously, many with luggage. This was disruptive for the staff and the guests.

From the moment you walk through the revolving lobby doors you are greeted with opulence but it’s not overbearing ... the calming scent, the soft piano playing, the attentive staff made us feel very welcomed, even though we were only there to sample the delicious afternoon tea! The Sandwiches were delicious especially the beef, the Champagne served in the crystal flute added another dimension to the Tea - all served in the presence of the huge chandelier that takes center stage of the impressively designed room. The scones arrived fresh from the oven in a wooden box, I would have to say that they were the best I’ve ever tasted. Unfortunately I was unable to taste all the cakes , as I have an allergy to chocolate but those that I tasted were absolutely sublime! Thank you all for such a lovely afternoon - Your staff are an asset to your hotel...

The experience could have been so much better. My wife and I were celebrating, but unfortunately we were given a table where the staff and other customers cut through constantly - to be honest you can have all the glitz, crystal and decor but it still felt like Waterloo station. I had to drag a chair from the table to attempt to reduce traffic.
As a returning customer I was very disappointed, perhaps I had built up the expectations for my wife too much.
It could have been so much more!

Such a special Afternoon Tea at Corinthia Hotel. Excellent food, the sandwiches were delicious, and the cakes were sublime. Such care and attention given to all the food and teas on offer. The waiters were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable throughout the experience. They were also attentive and did not rush us through the service. It was a magical experience, especially with the beautiful Christmas decorations on show, and the piano master playing festive tunes. It was busy, but the waiters were never too far away if we had any questions or needed more tea! The food and service received makes us want to go back again for another special occasion. Definitely recommend.

Lovely food, probably the best scones. Beautiful room, nice china, impressive Baccarat champagne glasses. Service somewhat unattentive, as no tea top ups were offered and then I was left to wait for my coat for 10 minutes and then my scarf was lost somewhere on the way.

Had Afternoon Tea, seated in what seemed like a corridor with a lot of people walking passed all having a look at what we were eating.
Had veggie selection of sandwiches, very odd combinations, scones were nice but cakes only average.

We arrived at the time of our reservation, but our table was not ready yet. We waited for almost 15minutes before being seated, while the hostess told us it would take 2 seconds. That was a little bit upsetting. However, the afternoon tea was delicious.

The Perfect London Afternoon Tea. A very elegant refined afternoon tea with gracious attentive staff & service. Light filled room with beautiful furnishings plants & floral arrangements & soft piano music. Beautiful confections, delicious finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream jam served on lovely tea set. We treated ourselves to a glass of Champaign & it arrived in stunning Baccarat crystal. Expensive but a once in a lifetime experience!

I was treated to afternoon tea as a birthday gift. We had a wonderful afternoon and felt truly spoilt. The service was impeccable and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the cakes were mini works of art! The surroundings were so beautiful and comfortable, I honestly didn't want to leave and could have sat there all night. It made an already special occasion even more so and I hope to come back again in the near future. It really was splendid!

A lovely setting and excellent presentation of the afternoon tea with stylish crockery. Only very minor quibbles, one was that tea refills were not as forthcoming as I have experienced at other equivalent establishments and were then confused, meaning we had to do a taste test to rectify which was which. However the music complimented the mood and a great time was had by all.

They were considerate to my partner who has a nut allergy, swapping out some cakes for non nut-based ones, however she was disappointed to not get a turkey sandwich as part of her festive tea due to the nut in the bread with the turkey sandwiches. We thought the bread could have been swapped and the sandwich made fresh but we didn't complain, so it wasn't to be.

A good afternoon tea in a classy setting. Still a way to go to rival Claridge's and Fortnum and Mason's.

I took the family for afternoon tea at the Corinthia as a special treat for my daughter who'd had a tough year medically. It was utterly delightful and we were completely spoilt but the wonderful and attentive staff. The food was great and the atmosphere was very special. It's pricey but well worth it. A gorgeous setting and a proper treat.

Don't try and re-invent the wheel. Afternoon Tea is a tradition. My guests were stunned at having all their sandwiches served in large strips, at once, on an individual plate in front of them, as opposed to being able to choose themselves, the tea that arrived was lukewarm, the scones arrived in a box??? and the pastries were brought on a trolley and again dished out on individual plates put in front of each of us. That is not a traditional afternoon tea. We had to wait endlessly between 'courses' and two of my guests changed their choice of tea because it had been made so weak, with the bag/leaves, removed and no hot water was provided to top up the tea. It was all just a 'modern' mess. They don't know what their doing anymore which is such a shame because when I took guests there a while back the afternoon tea was done properly and was superb. I'll never go back now.

Experience started well, sandwiches, scones and pastries were very tasty. On the other side, service was very slow. When I made a comment on how we waited for over 20mn for a green tea (that I know is best when brewed for 1.30mn), waiter barely apologized and instead kind of got defensive towards us by telling me that we were not done with our scones so we couldnt say anything (he checked in the box to see if I were lying when I say we were done with them, and it is true we still had some but we did not want to eat them anymore as we were quite full), that the standards was of 25mn for the teas to be delivered (which I had appreciated been advised then at the beginning of the service) and that apparently order was taken "9mn ago" (even though I had checked time when I started to feel that we were waiting for long time and was for sure at least more than 10mn). All of this made us feel quite uncomfortable and confused.
Drinks were made complimentary which was nice however the first response to the complaint was quite unexpected. I have to say on the other hand, I appreciated that after the waiter did not change is attitude towards us even though we made a comment.

This is classy and beautifully styled hotel for afternoon tea. Clean, spacious and wonderfully furnished. The service was incredibly courteous and professional. The quality of the afternoon tea was good with the hotel’s special tea blends the highlight. There was one slight hiccup in that my friend had booked and confirmed twice about having a gluten free afternoon tea service. When we were served, she noticed that our finger sandwiches looked identical. On querying, they realised they had served her the wrong plate. As a celiac, my friend could have been very ill as a result. They were very apologetic and professional but co-ordination could be improved. Overall however I would definitely recommend this place for an enjoyable and classy dining experience.
