I am not an easy person to please, but I could find no fault with our birthday cream tea outing to Oakley Court. We were given such personal service, attentive but not overbearing, and were seated around a welcoming log fire whilst enjoying the tasty sandwiches, scones and exquisitely crafted cakes. We had a quick stroll beforehand by the river through the manicured grounds at the rear of the hotel, a lovely setting, to add an edge to our appetites. A wonderful experience.
We had such a lovely festive afternoon tea as a family. Sitting by the fire in a beautiful setting, decorated for Christmas. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and my husband was particularly impressed with his mainly savoury ‘gentleman’s’ tea. We took our 2 daughters (11 and 15) with us and they loved it too.
Lovely experience, the cakes were exceptional
Pleasant surroundings, tasty food, well presented. Attentive, helpful staff but not over the top. Covid measures clear. A very enjoyable afternoon. Thank you.
Bloody marvelous, free hot drink top ups and we had the table for 2 hours
Lovely food, served in a really nice room by very friendly and attentive staff. The kids afternoon tea is a great option. Our table was slightly uncomfortably low for eating at, but otherwise it was a great experience and we will be back! Thank you.
Lovely room, friendly service & good value for money.
We enjoyed the setting for afternoon tea and the food was presented well. The only downside was not having the scones on the tiered stand from the start. The plates looked silly with just 4 tiny cakes on them with the scones being brought out afterwards because they were still in the oven. This is the first time I've seen afternoon tea done like this and for me that didn't work. By all means put the scones in the oven but have them ready to go out with the cakes and sandwiches.
In all the staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful and the grounds were too. Lots of tea and coffee brought as when needed.
This was our first trip to Oakley Court. We enjoyed our afternoon tea however we were not wowed!
Very much enjoyed our afternoon tea experience at Oakley Court & will most certainly be back. In our present climate it was wonderful to run away somewhere & forget all our present circumstances. If I had to make one slight criticism, it would be that I booked the table for two, as there was only two in the party & therefore the staff presumed that we would be requiring two full afternoon teas, they found this quite strange & got quite perturbed over the fact they I wanted too order one, plus additional sandwiches & another pot of tea. This outing was supposed to be a little treat for myself & husband on a wet, miserable Saturday afternoon & seeing as I’m trying to loss some weight I didn’t wish to consume a full afternoon tea. So questioning our order made me feel rather uncomfortable.
This is a gorgeous location with some very polite staff. The food is nice enough but nothing amazing and it's slightly disappointing that no extras are offered for free and the children afternoon tea comes with the icecream straight away so by the time they get round to eating it, it has mostly melted.
Good service, excellent food. Would be nice to have a few more sandwiches though.
Absolutely fantastic way to spend an Afternoon. Even in these covid times, they know what they are doing and made tea special.
Excellent. Lovely Setting. Very aware staff, not intrusive but always ready. Food was elegant, well thought out and well presented.
Had a lovely tea. The food was good and beautifully served. The service was attentive without being intrusive. However, we were surprised and disappointed at the casual, bordering on sloppy, dress of the staff. Given the overall atmosphere I would have expected a better and more professional dressed staff. It let your establishment down which is a pity, as everything else was what one would expect from having afternoon tea at what is probably a very international location.
The lack of a smartly dressed staff pulled down the overall standard.
Best afternoon I’ve had for a while! Cakes were the best I’ve had on an afternoon tea!
Only thing is I would have liked the option to be given more sandwiches as 4 per person went very quickly!
Excellent relaxing enjoyable experience. T was friends 40th. She said she really enjoyed the quality time we had together with beautiful surroundings. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too trouble.
Thank you
Wonderful place, wonderful food and wonderful service. Very reasonably priced too.
ANOTHER EXCELLENT AFTERNOON TEA AT OAKLEY COURT LOVELY SETTING AND WONDERFUL VIEWS TO THE RIVER THAMES AND RAPHAEL LOOKED AFTER US FIRST CLASS
It was amazing! Beautiful ambiance, delicious cakes and beautiful garden outdoor. We just loved it !
Lovely service and hotel. It was a treat for a birthday and would highly recommend.
This was the best afternoon tea I have had this summer
A beautiful setting, because of the weather was able to sit out on the lawn and have views of the river.
In the main the food was good, and the warm scones were delightful.
Everything was perfect! Beautiful location ( we were sitting outdoor), amazing food and service! I wouldn’t change anything and definitely will go back!
We were given a gift voucher for our 30th wedding anniversary as had our reception at Oakley Court. My husband hadn’t been back since so was amazed at all the changes they had made. We sat in the garden as was a beautiful sunny afternoon, we watched the boats going past on the river while the staff couldn’t have done any more for us. We weren’t rushed in the least but also weren’t left waiting on anything. The tea was delicious and plentiful and there was a wide choice of teas to enjoy with the delicate cakes and pastries. Will definitely return and not leave it another 30 years!!?
Utterly gorgeous venue and fabulous afternoon tea. Really great food and service in a beautiful gothic setting. Alfresco afternoon tea in the glorious sunshine is just a perfect memory we will treasure.
Nothing too special about the afternoon tea itself. The place is stunning!
Best afternoon tea we have been to, beautiful setting , friendly attentive staff and lovely food, will be going back for sure
Had bought a voucher for my husband's birthday for a Gentleman's Tea so disappointed when at the table to find it wasn't available untill October so we had to settle for the usual afternoon tea but that said was still very enjoyable and lucky we both liked cakes !
Service was great. Lovely sunny day so sat outside.
Was disappointed by the amount of sandwiches basically 4 this slices which would make one whole sandwich albeit different fillings.
Tiny yummy cakes.
In my opinion not enough for the £65 for 2 after VAT and service.
Very nice experience, friendly staff, unclear if we could have had more sandwiches as there not too many, some hotels do for the same price, some don't.
Lacklustre welcome, lovely table setting overlooking grounds. Good range of teas, order as many hot drinks as you want. Sandwiches were very good, scones were good but a lack of decent jam and stingy cream, cakes were disappointing and the service was inconsistent. Price increase when they added 5% VAT on bill. Such a shame as had been looking forward to it.
They team were working very hard due to the poor weather. We were the last booking of the day so we were sadly forgotten about. No offer for additional drinks and we had to ask for bill as room being cleared around us. Not the standard we have had in the past. Nice team, but sadly forgotten given it was my birthday treat
Delicious, filling but not overly so, and lovely place and service.
It was a beautiful day so we had afternoon tea on the lawn by the river which was stunning. The food was good but we have one vegetarian and one vegan and they seem to think they are the same thing as we were brought two vegan. I also found a large fruit stone in one of my pastries. I would have preferred a pot of coffee but was told it was from a machine so had to have a cup. This meant that the two girls waiting on us were were running in and out frantically which didn't seem to bother them even though they must have walked miles! I was particularly impressed with Charlotte as nothing was too much for her and she would go above and beyond to help us enjoy our afternoon. The other girl Sam was also very helpful. I would definitely do this again.
With the weather All sunshine it was the perfect afternoon tea on the lawn staff were very attentive so all in all was a very nice day ,thank you Oakley court.Regards Alan.
Overall the experience of Afternoon tea was great. The weather for the day was forecast for thunderstorms. Our afternoon tea was catered to be outside. On arrival people were outside eating. When we were approached to be seated I asked could we sit outside, the young lady said the weather may turn, so she took us inside. Now after us other people were seating outside, this was for lunch and afternoon tea. This was slightly some what disappointing as we wanted to experience the lakeviews etc. Our young 70yr Spanish waiter was very attentive and made us feel relaxed and unhurried and made it very personal with a touch, bringing over a plate inscribed with a Birthday message for my wife.
The only drawback was that we didn't get to sit outside eventhough other people who came after us did. We will return again to Oakley Courts as the grounds are very picturesque.
Lovely set up outside. Service from the two members of staff was the best I have ever experienced from afternoon tea.
Afternoon tea is a must! From level of service to the setting and the overall atmosphere was first class. Drinks by the river in the evening from the riverside bar was perfect
Attended for a celebration event. It was outstanding.
