Afternoon Tea at Park Plaza County Hall London
Afternoon tea is served every day at Spectrum Bar and Café located on the ground floor.
They really were not prepared to serve an afternoon tea, and we waited 45 minutes for our food. The server said it’s because we did not “pre-order,” but I said that we made a reservation for afternoon tea for two, and that should be sufficient toserve them notice that the food should be prepared.
The scones and sandwiches were excellent! Service was a bit slow at first, but picked up quickly. Desserts didn't seem like anything special, but were still decent. Small tea selection, but the tea was still lovely. The decorations and utensils were super cute!
I chose to have afternoon tea here because compared to other places it was cheap - and we got what we paid for. There was less food than usually offered at afternoon tea, sandwiches had been made a while ago and were not fresh, scones very small. We were put upstairs in the empty restaurant but that was better as the bar downstairs was noisy & packed. I wouldn’t go again.
It was my partner's birthday and we were going t the theatre to celebrate it. I chose Afternoon Tea at the Park Plaza County Hall because it was convenient for the theatre. The hotel is very modern and we were seated in a brightly lit cocktail bar: not the most romantic of settings. However, the food and the service - after a shaky start - were good. I would recommend Afternoon Tea at the Park Plaza County Hall for a pre-theatre meal, but not a cosy romantic tete-a-tete.
Its good fun for a catch up with sober friends. Plenty of sweet foods, could do with a bigger selection of savory.
Lovely gentleman greeted us he was very nice. Thank you
There was no afternoon tea. Hotel Lobbie bar with crowds of people checking in. They offered us tea-we left
Awful, we arrived early and they did not have our booking.
We were hastily seated in the bar ( which was like a lobby) as they rushed to see if the chef could prepare our afternoon tea.
After asking what tea we wanted - without receiving a menu, we decided to leave without eating as they felt unprepared for our booking.
Such a shame and spoiled our bank holiday day out. - They shouldn't take bookie if the chef isn't in!
The venue were not expecting us and we had to wait an hour for our food. There were only two varieties of sandwiches and the scones were extremely small. Definitely not value for money at all. Not to mention the £20 service charge that I didn't realise had been applied until after I had paid. Overall a very disappointing experience.
I booked afternoon tea at this particular hotel, as I had a room booking there. I arrived at afternoon tea a little earlier than expected, about 20mins. The waitress who was dealing with us had placed our table near the stairs/ buffet queue, which at the same time there was a conference lunch and the queue was behind us, I asked to be moved as we were celebrating a 40th birthday, and the thought of a queue behind you is really frustrating. The waitress moved us to our desired seating so thank you for that.
Ordering afternoon tea was a little tricky as they had a variety of tea flavours which she told us, and we forgot, would of been a lot easier if she gave us a menu to begin with which she did after our request. We decided the type of tea we were going for. I personally felt, they were not prepared for a group of 5 people for afternoon tea, we had to ask the waitress how long the sandwiches would take. It finally arrived after 10-15mins and I must say the sandwiches was ok, not anything special compared to other afternoon teas I have had before. There was no refills of the sandwiches which was a disappointment. I would not be going back in a while, as I felt if I had booked somewhere else, the experience would have been a lot better.
Tea was fine. Felt a bit like being in the hotel reception.
One of staff was very rude. He served coffee, and just put the coffee in front of him not in front of the customers. so we had to move the coffee from where he was standing. Foods: not fresh. I am not really foodie person but you can clearly tell all foods were pre-made and probably delivered in packages. There weren't many people in the area and there were more than 3 waiters when I was there, but it was really hard to catch waiter's attention to order something.
Food delicious but they wasn't prepared for our arrival even though it had been booked in advance....apparently they hadn't been told of our booking until the last minute, they then tried to shove us on a table and dragged another table up next to it.
Eventually they did put us in the restaurant which was superb and I would recommend doing all the afternoon teas up there.
Anyway, food was 100% okay
The afternoon tea is served in the bar area, where the music is quite loud and not the right style for a relaxing time. We also had several waves of chilled air coming from the hotel door nearby.
Food was good and price cheaper than usual afternoon teas, but I didn't have the relaxing experience I was looking for: quite a disappointment overall.
We (a group of 3 girls) had an enjoyable afternoon tea here on Valentine's Day. The tea/selection was good & top-ups were available. The sandwiches, scones & cakes were both plentiful & tasty. So I would say all around very good value for money!
we went for afternoon tea. It was a lovely spread and service was very attentive. But the restaurant is not actually in County Hall (we thought it was and booked as mum had worked there)
For a day out was very nice. There tea, cakes abd homemade scones was delicious, it was a nice experience. I would not do the afternoon tea again not that anything was wrong but worth doing a least once. going there for lunch and drinks would be fab as thier menu looked appetising. Staff were very polite and approachable.
This is not the typical afternoon tea venue of velvet sofas and stuffy service. Perfect for relaxing in a casual and relaxed environment after visiting London Eye and other attractions in the South Bank. Pastries were good, especially the lemon tart. Scones could have been a bit warmer but there really nice with the cream and jam. Great value with a glass of champagne if you book the special offer.
